The information in this guide will provide you an overview of Hampton Hall Club golf operations, amenities, organizations and activities.

The two main organizations within the Club are the Men’s Golf Society (MGS) and the Ladies’ Golf Society (LGS). Both organizations are vibrant and growing groups that work very hard to ensure there are multiple opportunities for all members to find a game to play in during the week. There are weekly games that are the staples of the MGS and LGS plus other special events throughout the year. The special events are shown on the MGS and LGS golf calendars that follow.

The Golf Staff works hand in hand with the membership to make sure you enjoy the game and experience camaraderie with your fellow members. We can recommend a particular game for you based on your handicap.

If there are any questions you have about golf, please feel free to stop by the Golf Shop or give us a call at (843) 815-8720.

Play Well!

ON BEHALF OF the Hampton Hall Men’s Golf Society (MGS), welcome to Hampton Hall Club. The MGS was established to enhance the golf member experience by stimulating camaraderie and sportsmanship through a golfing environment that offers friendly competition within the Society as well as in inter-club events.

Men’s Golf Society Membership

Membership in the MGS allows you to participate in all MGS events throughout the year. The annual membership fee $35 and is reduced by 50% for those joining after July 1. This annual fee may change as necessary. Please contact any board member or individual listed on page 11 for a Membership Application. Let us know if you have questions regarding MGS membership.

MGS Reserved Tee Times

The MGS reserves morning tee times for members on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. The preferred way to sign up for MGS events, as well as all tee times and events, is to register through the Hampton Hall Club website.

After entering your member login information, select Book a Tee Time, select the appropriate day and look for the MGS event. In addition to event and tee time registration, the website also provides other useful information such as cart path restriction, pin placement, and a schedule of upcoming events. You can also call the Golf Shop to sign up.

Brent Carlson, Head PGA Golf Professional, will reach out to each new member and schedule a general orientation. The orientation assists new members in navigating the handicap system, online tee time system, check in, group play and other useful information.

MGS Weekly Events

WEDNESDAY: Wednesday is the main MGS event of the week and is a great venue for meeting many of the other MGS members. Tee times typically start between 8:00 a.m. and 9:50 a.m. Sign up by adding your name to the MGS Wednesday event shown when you click on “Book a tee time” on the Hampton Hall website. A wide variety of games are played on Wednesday with groups determined by both tee preference and handicap. Our Golf Staff assigns foursomes based on your selected tees (white, combo, gold, forward) and handicap. There is a $10 entry fee for which winners will receive Golf Shop credit. If compatible with the weekly game, an optional $5 skins game and closest to the pin

may be available. Cancellations of tee times for the Wednesday event must be by noon on Tuesday as the teams are made up at that time. Late cancellations or no shows will result in the loss of the entry fee.

The fun group also plays on Wednesday morning. The fun group is designed for golfers who want to play less competitive golf. The game changes from week to week and the Golf Staff assigns foursomes based on tees and handicap.

SATURDAY: The low handicap group provides a more competitive playing environment for our membership. Sign up ends by noon on Friday. While any MGS member can sign up for the low handicap group, the maximum number of strokes given is 14 (i.e. no strokes are given on any par three holes).

THURSDAY: There is one group that plays on Thursday mornings at 11:00 a.m. Sign up by Wednesday at noon for that week’s event. Foursomes are determined on the driving range before the first tee time by a random selection of golf balls thrown down by participants; however, final teams are not determined until after play by drawing cards. Format is a “Stableford-like” points game.

Major Club Events

The MGS assists with the major Club wide events during the year including Member/Guest, Member/Member, Inter-Club and Hampton Hall leagues as well as a variety of other competitive and fun events including the Hole-in-One Club. The MGS also sponsors two Saturday pre-tournament breakfasts per year. All of these events are a great opportunities to meet other MGS members.

You will find a complete MGS member list, phone numbers, calendar of events for the year and other information relating to the golf experience on the Hampton Hall Club website.

1. “Burn lines” define the margins of Lateral Hazards and Water Hazards. RED stakes (Lateral) and YELLOW stakes (Water) are used to identify the hazards.

2. The “burn lines” marking the edges of hazards are to be played as Ground Under Repair.

3. Out of Bounds are defined by WHITE stakes and / or Property stakes (GREEN stakes with white tops).

4. A golf ball crossing a lateral lagoon hazard, which edges the fairway, and lands on the other side in or near an improved lot is deemed to be Out of Bounds even if it is not marked.

5. A golf ball crossing a community street or road is deemed to be Out of Bounds even if the ball lands on the golf course on the other side.

6. All sandy areas marked with BLUE stakes are designated as natural areas and therefore are played as “through the green”.

7. Free line-of-site relief may be taken from sprinkler heads around the green provided the heads are within two club-lengths of the green, and the ball is within two club-lengths of the sprinkler heads.

8. Free relief may be taken from any newly-sodded areas or areas being prepared for sodding.

9. Free relief may be taken for interference with stance or swing from stakes and /or wires supporting trees.

A “Ready Golf Guide” to Improving Your Golf ExperienceTo assist you in keeping up with the group in front of you, please follow the Ready Golf Rules outlined below. Each group should monitor themselves with respect to these guidelines.

On The Tee 1. The player who is ready should hit. 2. Shorter hitters should hit first. 3. Tee-off as soon as the group ahead is clear. 4. Carry an extra ball in your pocket.

On The Fairway 5. HIT WHEN READY & Safe 6. Take appropriate clubs (a good rule of thumb is to take the club you believe you will use along with one club more and one club less) to your ball and HIT WITHOUT DELAY. 7. Have your group watch where your shot goes. 8. Limit search for lost ball to 3 minutes.

On The Green 9. Place your clubs between green and next tee. 10. Study your putt while others are putting. 11. Continue putting until holed out. 12. If you are playing catch-up, leave the green immediately after holing out and proceed to the next tee. Complete your scorecard after you are off the green.

On Par 3 Greens 13. Upon reaching the green, if the group in front of you is waiting to hit on the next tee, stand in a safe area and have the group behind you hit.

Short Cuts 14. Mark your score on the way to the next tee. 15. When driving a cart, drop your partner at their ball, then continue to yours.

These are great local golf courses available to play for around $40 per match. Each club will host a match for the other clubs. The team for each match will consist of 10 players. Five teams of two, play better ball of partners for 1 point per hole (18 points, and a total of 90 points for the full team). This is a net game played off of the low handicap player in the group.

All of the money except league expenses will be payed out to the different teams based on how many points they accumulate during the season.
