As of now, Protection 1 is taking care of five of my facilities in my region. I’m extremely pleased with Protection 1’s overall service across my region. Others within our company, from other regions, speak very highly of Protection 1.

Our previous providers would take three to twenty one days to get a technician out, and at times would not fix the problem. AWhen it comes to data, the method of transport should be on everyone’s radar screen. IT and security departments

are converging as wireless capacity becomes more important. Businesses should have an eye to reliability and security along with a game plan that leverages their existing IT network. Video bandwidth is an issue that you must address as its use continues to expand. The cloud will drive data transport choices, and proper planning is critical.

Q Do you see the cloud playing an even bigger role in security?

A Definitely. The move to cloud-based solutions is accelerating because companies are no longer willing to

maintain hardware at their premises. They can now get these services from a third party at a lower cost. A move to the cloud lets companies subscribe to the required capacity as they grow. Enterprise-wide communication and collaboration will continue to push people to the cloud and that will result in a wider sharing of business intelligence.

Q How will companies manage this mountain of intelligence?

A Once companies move to a cloud-based solution, they will need to embrace data mining in order to maximize the

incredible amount of information derived from their security solution. This will let them share important data points, including video, across the enterprise. There is a huge appetite for data, and you can expect companies to share it on a much larger scale.

Q Do you see potential problems with the sharing of so much data?

A The distribution of data is absolutely going to be a security issue. When data flows

throughout a company, many times on handheld devices without adequate security, it is a big problem. The C-suite wants data shared and IT wants it secured—so there you have a challenge! The national account program of the future will need to lock down data without limiting its use.
