    Golden Rule Driving Safely (Fatigue & seatbelts)

    Look what happened here, a man fell asleep whiledriving because he was too tired HE WASWEARING HIS SEAT BELT AND SURVIVED THISACCIDENT

    .IF YOU FEEL SLEEPY - STOP.

    It is recommended that the following guidelinesare adopted:

    1. Take a 5 min break every hour of driving. Getout of the vehicle, walk around the vehicle a

    couple of times, do some gentle stretching,windmilling of your arms, have a drink of water.

    2. Every couple of hours, stop for some lightrefreshment (food snack and drink/water), astretch and a little exercise. (30 minutes as aguide)

    3. Stop and eat your meals as you normally would.Breakfast at breakfast time, lunch at lunchtimeand dinner at dinnertime as per your usual routinevs driving on to get to the destination.

    4. In any 24hr period, you must have at least an 10hr break involving sleep.

    Take water and snacks with you in your vehicle.

    5. Be on the alert for signs of weariness and ifdetected, pull over and stop. Have a powernap, 15minutes of shut eye could be all the difference

    between getting to your destination 15 minuteslate and not getting there at all.
