INTRODUCTION Thomson Reuters Eikon is your go-to source for all Thomson Reuters Content, Analytics, Trading and Collaboration tools that you need to perform your job. This course will show you how to get the most from this powerful suite of tools. After completing this workbook you should be able to:

Save your workspace ABOUT THIS WORKBOOK This workbook is designed to be used alongside Thomson Reuters Eikon. On the following pages you‟ll find a series of exercises that will introduce you to the breadth of information available in Thomson Reuters Eikon.

Each exercise is marked with this icon, along with a summary of the exercise. Just follow the instructions in the left hand column to complete the exercise. Visuals are provided in the right hand column to guide you and to show you what your screen should look like.

BEFORE YOU START The Thomson Reuters Eikon Home Page displays the most relevant information based on your job role. Some of the examples in this workbook are based on a Home Page tailored for Fixed Income markets. If you want to follow our examples exactly then you should set your Home Page to display Fixed Income information.

1. Navigate to My Eikon My Profile. 2. Click the Edit link in the Professional Profile section. 3. Select Fixed Income Portfolio Manager from the list of Job Roles. 4. Click Save.

Your Home Page will update to display Fixed Income information.

ABOUT THE HOME PAGE The Thomson Reuters Eikon Home Page is your gateway to finding Thomson Reuters data and news, pre-built screens, and much more …all in an intuitive browser-based interface.

In this activity you will learn how to access the wide array of information available through your Thomson Reuters Eikon Home page.

If the Home Page is not instantly visible when you start Eikon, just click the + located to the right of the document tabs. . .

The Home Page is customized, according to your profile. The example at right shows the Home Page of a Fixed Income Portfolio Manager. At the top of the page you‟ll find market moving news headlines. Click a headline to view the full story.

From the news story page you can open the Related fly out to view relevant related headlines, quotes and links.

Click the back button to return to the Home Page.

In the middle of the Home page is a selection of Quick Links tailored to your job role.

Coming further down the page you‟ll find a selection of Top News categories. Click the gear icon to change the content displayed to display news categories of interest to you. Try changing one or two of these categories now. Select your category, then click Save.

The menu on the left side of the homepage gives you instant access to other Asset Class pages. The column on the right side of the Home Page contains charts, rates and prices relevant to your workflow. The chart will display hourly data for a key benchmark, depending on your profile

Scroll down to view key data for other asset classes. Click any Benchmark to view detailed information, or click the View Real-Time icon to view real-time data in a pop-up window.

Thomson Reuters Eikon is constantly evolving and improving. To keep up to date, look out for notifications about new features in the Product Messages section.

FINDING CONTENT BY ASSET CLASS The Asset Class guide uses intuitive browser menus and filters to help you find the information you need.

Use the Asset Class guide to explore Thomson Reuters Eikon.

Let‟s browse by Asset Class to find information on US Government bonds. Open the Asset Class menu. Select Fixed Income>Bonds> Government to open the Fixed Income Overview for Government Bonds.

Next, open the dropdown menu, and select United States. Note that G7 countries are displayed at the top of the list.

Use the tabs to related information: News and Events displays recent headlines and events. Instruments tab lists all bonds in the selected category. Market Data and Tools contains charts, calculators, models and market data. New Issues Library lists recent new issues. Government Auctions contains information on government bond auctions.

USING THE COUNTRIES MENU TO FIND INFORMATION You can use Thomson Reuters Eikon to browse all the asset class data for a single country.

Use the countries menu to quickly locate information on Japan.

Let‟s open the Countries menu and select Japan. Note: the menu also contains links to Overview pages for World and the Eurozone.

The Japan Country Overview Page displays news, key data and events related to Japan. Use the tabs to locate other country-specific information, including:

News and Events

Financial Markets: including benchmark index data, and an Exchange Holidays page.

Debt Structure

Central Bank: economic and fundamental data, rates, and headlines.

Economics

Research

Country Comparison

To get real-time quotes or charts for any asset, click the View Real-Time icon in the asset title bar. For example, from the Overview tab you can open a Quote object displaying real-time spot rates for US Dollar/Yen.

SEARCHING FOR FIXED INCOME INFORMATION You can use Eikon Search to quickly locate Fixed Income information.

Find bond information using Eikon Search.

To find information on a bond, enter a ticker and a coupon. We‟ll search for a Ford 5% coupon bond. To do this, type F5. A list of matching bonds will appear in auto suggest. Select a bond to view the details. Once you‟ve done this try the following searches:

Refine the display by adding a maturity year: F5 2021.

Search for an Issuer Name: Ontario 6.25 2028.

Search by an identifier: 912828.

Then add a keyword to the search: 912828 price.

The quote will appear in a pop-out window. With the powerful Thomson Reuters Eikon search tool it‟s easy to find the exact fixed income information you are looking for.

FINDING NEWS

The News and Research menu at the top of your screen gives you access to award-winning Reuters news coverage.

Use the News and Research menu to quickly find news stories.

Let‟s look at the News and Research menu.

Select Reuters Top News to display the News front page.

Top News is an overview of the most important stories. Click a headline to read the full story. To search News stories, type a keyword. For example, type “Bernanke.” Click your keyword when it comes up in auto suggest.

Click the Search icon. This will return a list of relevant headlines, with the dateline and source.

To save your search for later use, click Save Search. You can then retrieve your search from the My News page.

For commentary and analysis from Reuters experts, click Breakingviews at left. You can then further refine for a specific category. Use the links at upper right to view news in a pop-up, share, or Print the story.

SEARCH FOR INFORMATION ON A COMPANY OR ISSUER Finding company information is easy in Thomson Reuters Eikon.

Use Search to find different types of information on a company or issuer.

If you know exactly what you're looking for, you can type in a keyword to quickly find the relevant information. We‟ll search for information on Diageo using the company name as the keyword. As we type, Auto Suggest displays matching companies and instruments. Click Diageo PLC to view the Company Overview.

The Company Overview displays a summary of the information available for Diageo, including charts, price and trading information, and news and research. The most recent share price is listed under the company name at the top of the screen. Click a tab to view corporate information, real-time and historical prices, research, debt structure, and more. Take a few minutes now to explore the information that is available.

Thomson Reuters Eikon also allows you to search by descriptive terms. You‟ll usually find what you are looking for by entering just the start of an instrument or app. For example, type Diageo Q in the search box and Auto Suggest will place a link to the quote at the top of the list.

Click the link to view the quote in a pop up browser.

The same method can be used to view a real-time chart or streaming news. Type Diageo Ch to access the chart

Type Diageo N to access the news.

SEARCHING USING DESCRIPTIVE TERMS OR CODES Thomson Reuters Eikon allows you to search by descriptive terms such as „Brent Futures‟ or „Microsoft Balance Sheet‟.

Search for information using descriptive terms and codes.

To begin type Microsoft Warrants in the Search field. As we type, Auto Suggest

updates. Click the link to view the Warrant

Overview page.

Use the filters to set specific criteria. For example, click Expiry Date. Select Next 30 Days. Then click Update View.

Click a column heading to sort the results. For example, try clicking Expiry.

You can click the icon at upper right to export the list as an Excel document. Or click the real-time icon to view a real-time quote.

Now let‟s search for a company using an ISIN code. Enter GB00B16GWD56 in the Search box. Then click Other results....

The search instantly identifies the code as the ISIN for the Vodafone Group, and displays the Company Overview page.

You can also access the Search Results screen whenever you perform a search by pressing Enter at the end of your search term. For example, type Apple into Search. Then press Enter. This will take you directly to the Search Results.

USING THE ADVANCED SEARCH Advanced Searches in the Content Explorer allow you to set strict criteria when you need to make a more precise search.

Use the Advanced Search tool to find information on government bonds.

To start an Advanced Search, click the Advanced Search button in the Content Explorer toolbar. Then select an asset category. We‟ll select Government and Corporate Bonds. If the Content Explorer toolbar is not visible, open the Main menu and select View>Document Toolbar.

We‟ll search for bonds with a maturity date between January 2015 and January 2018. To do this, open the Maturity Date menu and select Between. Then type 01-JAN-2016 and 01-JAN-2018 in the Maturity Date fields. Then click Principal Currency. A dialog will appear. Select the Euro and click Add, then OK.

Now click Country of Issue. Choose Euro Zone as the Country of Issue. Then click Add and OK.

Select Investment Grade. Then click Add Criteria and select Putable from the Redemption category. Finally, click Search.

The search results are returned. Click the Issuer Name to display the bond‟s terms and conditions. We can sort the results by clicking the column headings. Click Coupon to sort the results into ascending Coupon values.

We can further filter the results. Click Analyze Results to display a set of filters in the column on the left.

Click the figure underneath the filter name to activate it. For example, click the figure under Coupon > Greater than to view returned Bonds with a Coupon value greater than 3.

To remove the filter, click Clear in the Search criteria details.

You can click Create List, and use the check boxes to choose components. Then use the links view your selections in a Quote List, copy them to another application or open the full search results in a Quote list

To save your search, return to the Search

Criteria tab. Then click Save Search. To retrieve your search, click My Searches.

The Manage Documents screen lists all your saved data searches.

Click on the search name to rerun the

search.

The Set as Default link will store your criteria as the default Advanced search for this category. Click Clear Form to remove the criteria.

FINDING THE DATA YOU NEED USING EIKON ANSWERS Eikon Answers is a natural language search providing quick and direct answers to your questions regarding equities and equity indices.

Use Eikon Answers to quickly find information on equities and equity indices.

Type Microsoft revenues into the search box and press Enter.

The information is presented for easy consumption. Scroll down and click More examples and details to learn more about Eikon Answers.

Click the i icon to view information about the fundamental measure.

We‟ll now add a specific date period to our search. Our original search term is still visible. We‟ll change it to Microsoft Revenues Q1 2001 to Q1 2012.

Click Export to Excel to view the underlying chart data in an Excel spreadsheet.

Now update the search to: Microsoft revenues marketcap Q1 2001 to Q1 2012.

Now you can see both revenues and market cap for the specified period.

Eikon Answers has information on the performance of equity indices. For example, type FTSE 100 constituents into the search box. Then press Enter.

Eikon Answers will return the top 10 ordered by weight. Click More to view the full 100 Constituents.

Now ask Eikon Answers for information on the Dow Jones Industrial Average leavers and joiners. Type DJI leavers and joiners in the search box. Then press Enter.

Eikon Answers provides direct answers to crude oil spots searches. For example, type World Oil Prices to view live streaming prices.

You can also compare crude oil prices against other crude oil commodities. For example, type Azeri Light versus FTSE 2012 to view the comparison on a rebase chart.

You can also use Eikon Answers to compare companies or view technical charts. For example, type Microsoft vs Apple marketcap 2005 to 2013 into the Search tool.

A chart displays, making it easy to see when the change happened.

Click Show chart data to view the underlying chart data. Then scroll down to view it in a table. Click Hide Chart data to remove the data from the display.

If you want to view the results in a different currency, just add the currency code to the end of the question. For example, try adding GBP to the search term. The results will be displayed in terms of the British Pound.

Eikon Answers also gives you quick access to our technical charting capability. We‟ll type IBM sma 20 to view the IBM 20 day Simple moving average.

The chart will appear. Drag the slider to change the date range; or click on a tab below the chart to change the time period.

Roll your cursor over the chart to view the price for a specific day.

USEFUL SHORTCUTS There are a number of keyboard shortcuts available in Thomson Reuters Eikon.

Use keyboard shortcuts to simplify your workflow.

Let‟s take a look at some keyboard shortcuts.

For example, press F4 to open the Quote pop-up.

You‟ll notice that the Quote launches populated with data. The data displayed is for the Active Symbol. The Active Symbol is the last instrument that you have used.

The instrument code and real-time price for the Active Symbol is always visible at the top of the screen.

At left is a list of other keyboard shortcuts you may find useful.

F4: Opens a Quote pop-up

F5: Refreshes the selected object or Content Explorer document

F6: Maximizes or restores the selected object (toggle)

F9: Opens News pop-up

F10: Opens chart pop-up

F11: Toggles between full screen and regular views of the application

Shift+F1: Launches the Contact Us portal

Ctrl+F1: Opens the Favorites pane. Note: this is a toggle

Shift+F3: Displays a Content Explorer document in a new window

Ctrl+F6: Cycles between documents

Alt+F4: Closes the active window

Ctrl+F4: Closes the active document

Alt+F8: Opens the Macro dialog box

Shift+F9: Opens the Full Story Search in the news object

Shift+F12: Saves the selected Flex Sheet or book

SAVING YOUR FAVORITES Thomson Reuters Eikon allows you to save objects and Explorer views that you use regularly to your Favorites menu, so that you have quick and easy access at any time.

Save a page to your Favorites.

To complete this activity, you can add any page in Thomson Reuters Eikon to your Favorites.

To add a page to your Favorites, right-click and select Favorites>Add to Favorites.

Give the Favorite a name and click Add.

Click the Favorites icon to open your Favorites.

Click on your Favorite to open it.

SAVING YOUR WORKSPACE You can save any combination of screens as your default workspace, so that Thomson Reuters Eikon automatically opens them every time you log in.

Save a series of pages as your default startup workspace.

In the example at right, we’ll save our Home Page, and a Cross-Market Flex Document as our start up workspace. However, to complete this activity, you can save any series of pages as your default workspace.

First, make sure your screens are saved.

Open the main menu.

Select File, then Save Workspace.

The Save Workspace dialog lists all open screens.

Check the boxes next to the screens that you want to include in the workspace.

Check Set this workspace as the startup file, and click Save.

When you next log in to Thomson Reuters Eikon, your new start up workspace will open automatically.
