WOW! Twenty years of history for the Genetic Selection Sale. Many things have changed over these past twenty years… the sale’s date and location, contributor families, the cattle business, but most importantly for all of us — the value of registered Hereford cattle. The cow-calf business is the shining star of agriculture right now and the Hereford breed has regained its prominence. Hereford demand has brought excitement back and keeps pushing higher. Many factors have contributed to the resurgence in popularity; a focus on improvement, discipline in culling, perseverance and leadership, to name a few.

Another special reason — Wisconsin will be the home of the 2016 Junior National Hereford Expo, to be held at the all new Alliant Energy Center in Madison, July 9th-15th. This is an event that no junior (or adult) should miss; lifelong friendships to be forged, a myriad of contests and competitions and making great family memories. With this event on the horizon, our five families have brought our best, not just for showing, but also for a lifetime of productivity. Take advantage of the opportunities at you door.

One last special reason — make it a Northwest Wisconsin Hereford Weekend. You can attend two registered Hereford sales within 24 hours and five miles distance apart — Lamb Brothers’ “Built to Last” on Saturday, Oct. 3rd and immediately afterwards the Genetic Selection offering will be on display. Supper will be served at 5 p.m. and lunch on sale day Sunday at 11 a.m.

We look forward to sharing a special weekend with you!

Terms: Cash or check. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. The auctioneer will settle

any disputes as to bids. All cattle are to be paid for by the purchaser during or immediately after the sale and will not be released until settlement has been made. Each animal will be at purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold.

Registration Certificates: Registration certificates of the animal will be transferred to the buyer at the seller’s expense.

All calves born before the sale will be registered by the seller. All calves born after the sale will be registered by the buyer. Each buyer must be sure to give the clerks the proper name and address for making transfers. Your breeder number is helpful.

Breeding Guarantee: All cattle in this sale are guaranteed in accordance with the rules and regulations of the

American Hereford Association. Any female which is stated to be pregnancy checked safe in calf is guaranteed to be pregnant at the time of this sale. All females safe in calf or with a calf at side are thereby considered breeders with no further guarantee. All females who have been serviced but not checked safe in calf carry no guarantee of this breeding. If any open heifer fails to breed, the seller must be notified by Oct. 3, 2016. Otherwise, the animal is no longer guaranteed. Females cannot be guaranteed if they are subjected to estrus-synchronization or super-ovulation treatment. We understand that when something goes wrong that both the buyer and the seller have losses. We will make every attempt within reason to stand behind our cattle.

Frozen Embryos: Due to the uncertain viability and different procedures by technicians, consignors cannot

guarantee a pregnancy or a live embryo at time of thawing. Consignors will guarantee the number of embryos shipped. Consignors will provide the documentation to register calves with the exception of AI certificates for non-owned bulls. It is the buyer’s responsibility to pay all freight for shipping charges for embryos.

Flushes: Sellers reserve the right to flush any females sold in this sale. Sellers will pay all expenses

related to said flush and conduct the flush at the buyer’s convenience.

All females will be OCV. Per Wisconsin rule, ATCP 10.21, Animal Disease Control, all animals sold at this auction are not guaranteed of future Johne’s disease test status. Herds that are on whole herd Johne’s classification programs will disclose their test status. No animals that have ever tested positive for Johne’s will be sold.

Excitement abounds at Larson Hereford Farms. 2015 has been an exciting year for us and we’ve made a big effort to raise the quality “bar” for this year’s sale offering.

Obviously with the Junior National in our backyard, we put an emphasis on top heifer calves. We want to stress the maternal depth of these females and their future production capabilities — these heifers look good and bring strong EPDs to the table.

The bred heifers offer some diversity in genetics and type. Several are bred to cutting edge industry sires and the bulk are bred to Fireman, a truly impressive and problem — free sire with some very powerful genetics.

Finally, the cows. None of our offerings are over five-years-old. Make no mistake, these are cows that we will miss and will be hard to replace. We’ve tried to insure that their families are maintained through sisters or offspring. They truly represent quality and opportunity.

If we can do anything to make your visit more pleasant, please contact us. We look forward to your visit.

His dam is currently in our

Mile High Night Sale to Don Moler, Frans Polled Herefords and Tom Biglieni.

• Shown only once, FIREMAN was named the 2013 Minnesota State Fair Reserve Grand Champion.

• We’ve used him extensively on cows and heifers with great results on 53 recorded progeny. • Great feet and structure, easy moving with good fleshing ability and lots of dimension.• He is the service sire for all the bred heifers in the sale except Lots 6, 8 and 9.

The Merrys welcome you to the Genetic Selection Sale X. For 111 years and five generations Merrys have been Hereford breeders. We sincerely appreciate your support over these years. MGM dams have produced the first or second highest selling bulls at the WHA Sale for 12 of the last 13 years, including 2015. MGM has been Premier Breeder or Premier Exhibitor at the Wisconsin State Fair in three of the last five years. We are offering many sibs of these cattle. Many of the pregnant cows were able to have the sex determined by ultrasound. The vet states he has 90 % accuracy. If the footnotes do not mention the sex of the pregnancy, it was not able to be determined. We are excited to be part of the Genetic Selection Sale and to offer this set of cattle to you! She has two daughters that are now donors in Colorado for the Mrozinski’s and in Wisconsin for Otter Creek Polled Herefords. Ask Chuck Badertscher about his Gold Star daughter.

The Boettcher Family welcomes you to Genetic Selection X and our offering of powerful heifer calves and productive young females from the cow families that have built and sustained our breeding program. Brookview Acres has been breeding structurally correct, functionally sound and high production Herefords with balanced EPDs for nearly 50 years. Our program emphasizes cattle that have the ability to generate profits in a wide variety of production systems and environments. We select proven AI sires and natural service pasture sires that we feel best complement our cow families. Foundation herd sires, Vaquero and Missle, will appear in many pedigrees because they left the sons and daughters we critically selected for. More recently we have infused the influence of NJW Durango 64U, TH Mr Hereford 11X, TH Victor 719T, Brookview

Wisconsin 40W, WLB Lego 90X, Churchill Red Bull 200Z and NJW Hometown 10Y. Our breeding goals are substantiated through performance measurements of birth, weaning and yearling weights as well as calculated feedlot gains and strict reproductive evaluation. We are humbled by the success stories of how our cattle have performed for our customers and the number of repeat buyers that visit our farm and sales each year. Please visit www.brookviewacres.com to view videos of our sale animals.

• We are proud to lead off the Brookview cow offering with a powerful, broody Missle daughter that personifies the ideal Hereford cow we believe can headline nearly every breeding program. From our Anxiety cow family, 06U has proven herself in the showring and by bringing a top calf to the scale every year. She attracted lots of friends being named Reserve Champion Hereford Female at a very competitive Badger Kickoff Classic in 2008. She grew into all of her expectations with an ideal udder, deep chest and moving on a big foot with a correct leg set. Take note of the Lego heifer calf at her side and you will understand why we chose to breed her back the same way.

• Bred AI May 7, 2015, to WLB Lego 83T 90X, then pasture exposed May 13 to Aug. 8, 2015, to Brookview 100W Bellagio 44B. Vet checked safe to AI date.

• Selling choice of cow or heifer calf.

• This deep, dark red Hometown son has been a favorite of ours since he has born. We named him Cartwright because of his distinctive western range bull phenotype, but he has become known as “Hoss.” We have enjoyed his good-natured, laid back attitude as he continues to grow and pack on muscle. We plan to take him out to one show before the sale as we feel he represents the kind of herd sire prospect that will fit our customers’ criteria of wanting bulls that are safe to use on heifers and still have enough frame to breed cows. His dam is a highly productive young Missle daughter that is a full sister to the heifer selected by Ned and Jan Ward several years ago at our sale. She sports a 105 weaning ratio on her first two calves and will likely make Dam of Distinction after weaning Hoss. Act. BW 83 lb.

She has a great

profile and is passing that style on to her offspring. The Wisconsin daughters are doing very well for us and for others who have purchased them. It hurts to sell a smoking hot 2-year-old sired by a Missle son and out of the
