ACTION 1 – Competence Centre Gävle

Create an arena and a systematic process where Labour market and public sector stakeholders develop together a clear picture of future competence needs at local and regional level

ACTION 2 – Skills index

Develop a forecast of future skills needs in steel and engineering, forest and wood industry, tourism, ICT, green technologies, health care and education. Exchange and comparison with results from the Skills forecasting tool developed via ESIMeC

In total, about 35 billion will be allocated to Swedish counties from 2014 to 2020 to strengthen innovation, business and entrepreneurship, attractive environments, skills and international and cross-border cooperation

ACTION 3 – Labour market and education knowledge

Develop a systematic method to increase Labour market and education knowledge among students, personnel in schools and parents. From preschool to high school

Current mode In process. We have just employed a project leader

ACTION 4 – Information from the Employment Office on the labour market in Gävle and its region

Collect labour market information for grade 7 to 9

ACTION 5 – PRAO – work experience scheme

Develop the existing programs of practical working life experience, grades 4 to 9

ACTION 6 – Model for study visits in local businesses and workplaces for students, teachers and school principals

Develop a model from kindergarten to adult education to raise awareness of the workplace environment

Work has begun. From autumn 2013, a pilot initiative. Teachers from Years 7-9 makes a day's work experience program during the same week as the school's students have work experience program

ACTION 7 – Student Ambassadors from the University in secondary schools

Develop an engagement programme whereby university students inform secondary students about university studies

ACTION 12 – Feasibility study on a “Future Fair”

Examine the interest and feasibility of organising a Future Fair, where occupations and labour market are linked and exposed to educations. Ideas from Swedish SACO fair and ESIMeC partner Cherbourg. Start with showcase of municipal occupations (400 different ones) in 2013

Effective collaboration: how can the city ensure that all stakeholders show commitment, share responsibility and ownership of the LAP?

Sustainability: how can the city ensure that the Local Action Plan remains relevant to the city’s priorities?

Impact: how can the city effectively measure the results and impact of its Local Action Plan?
