Fun was had by all! CONGRATULATIONS Well done to Hannah Buggatto, Jayden Vidovic McCarthy, Masei Fetui and Steven Leului. These students all received Academic Scholarships in 2013 for Airds High School. The selection panel was very impressed with their applications and the supporting documentation from their teachers was equally impressive. SCOOTERS, BIKES ,SKATEBOARDS AND ROLLERBLADES Thank you to everyone for supporting the school’s stance on children riding the above to school with out a helmet. It has been quite calm over the past few days and we have had the children settled and safe in the mornings and ready for learning without disputes! Remember if your child does come to school without a helmet we will call you to come and collect their bike, scooters, skateboard or rollerblades. INAPPROPRIATE COMMENTS Over the past week I have had to deal with a spate of inappropriate racially based comments by students towards each other. All schools are required by policy to have an Anti Racism Officer. At Briar Road Ms Mair is our officer. Any comments that are of a racist nature are referred to her. Ms Mair follows a process that is set out by the Department of Education and Communities. The process involves writing up the incident and speaking with the children concerned. Consequences are put in place depending on the severity and consis- tency of the comments. This can range from discussions between students to resolve the conflict to referring the behavior through the schools welfare procedures for follow up. Every case is recorded and entered onto our behavior management system Risc. All cases of racism are dealt with on a individual basis and in accordance to the situation. Please reinforce to your children that it is not appropriate to refer to the colour of a persons skin, their ethnicity or culture. Parents of 3/6C Mr Chomicz will be on Long Service Leave for the next 3 weeks Mr Pudya will be taking his class during this time. If you have any concerns regarding your child please contact Mr Pudya in the first instance. Clubs Grant Award A huge thank you goes out to the Airds Bradbury Community Changemakers who have helped us to secure and fund our Attendance Reward for the next 12 months. This was obtained through their successful submission to Club Grants on our behalf. Our reward will be funded by the Campbelltown RSL Club. A very big thanks to the club and especially Natalee Bonnell from Community Changemakers for her continued efforts to support our school. 3M News This term, 3M have been looking at the Olympics. We

have been very excited and have been watching many

events and keeping a medal tally to support our

wonderful Australian athletes. We have also been

looking at information reports and practising general

statements to introduce a topic. 3M has been very

busy in Maths, doing maths raps and fast maths

nearly every day to help us with our times tables as

well as making arrays with counters.
