Many of us think there is only little that we can contribute to this enormous world of ours. But we should change our attitude towards such thoughts and think of ways to improve our local environment bits by bits at the least that an individual can do. Reminding ourselves to adopt

and practice. “eco friendly” be-havior, we should also try to in-fluence the people around us to be more sensitive and work hand in hand towards the restoration of our environment. Thus, if we the Bronsonians put sincere efforts in this direction, we can reassure ourselves that

we can be exemplary to others with our prudent steps that need to start from our own home it-self.Just ponder and be the torchbear-er in this journey that speaks a change.

The Deepor Beel Biodiversity Carnival was organized by WWF –India on 17th of May, 2016. This event was organized to celebrate the World Bio-diversity Day with an aim to create awareness regarding ‘Saving Deepor Beel’, the only Wetland in Assam. The carnival was held in ‘Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan ME School’ at Chakradeo Village and around ten schools across Assam participated in the carnival. Our Miles Bronson Residential School was also one of them. Twenty nine students and three of our teach-

ers participated in the carnival that had a kick start at around 9:30 am. This carnival offered us a great opportunity to learn much about the wetland. The event started with a speech by the Forest Man of India, Padma Shri Jadav Payeng followed by a rally. There was also a plantation drive where two students from each school planted a sapling. Our participants in school uniform performed a street play carrying for-ward the theme ‘Independence of Ecological Balance in Deepor Beel’ for which they painted their faces with different images of animals. Deepor Beel’s awareness drive was carried out with the display of placards. Along with it a series of songs and dances were performed highlighting the carnival’s theme. The carnival programme ended with an enthusiastic and informative interactiive session with the noted Shri Jadav Payeng. We the students proposed ideas on ways to save the Biodiversity of the Sanctuary. This carnival boosted our knowledge about the need and hazards of ecological system and immensely motivated us to keep our sur-roundings clean, protect flora and fauna and prevent them from alarming hazards.

Session 2016-17 unfolds with new colour and texture. At every corner there’s a touch of something new and mid-day snacks is one of them. On 25th April 2016 it had its introduction. Students are served with juice and snacks. After two morning periods at around 11 am we get a chance to relish ourselves with Juices, Sandwiches, Buns, Patties etc. We are excited and are grateful too as it kills the monotonous routine that we had earlier. Although the lunch break is extended because of this short break, we are happy as af-ter lunch break we get sufficient time to take rest or come for remedial class and extra activities.

MBRS. The main objective is to offer maximum benefit to the in-house aspirants and the local stu-dents of Dharapur. A group of fifty students from both class XI and XII have joined presently. The coaching centre provides structured syllabus for both the Board exam and the en-trance for engineering and medical. The distance has cut short the long

journey to the city and also opened avenues for them as they get a scope to interact and learn from the stu-dents of other schools who share the same space and learning experi-ences. It’s anticipated, the record al-ready earned by the Aakash Institute by the exemplary results produced every year, will accelerate by the wide response and performance.

An interesting and attractive ac-tivity known as Brass Band has been introduced in our school on 23rd of March 2016. The term tells that only the Brass instru-ments are to be used (except for the percussion). No strings or reeds, only instruments where

the sound is produced by buzzing the lips into a cup-shaped mouthpiece. This eliminates the saxophone, which is generally constructed by brass but uses a single reed as the sound source. This was a new experience for the Bronsonians preparing themselves for the upcoming presentation for the IPSC. Participating in Band doesn’t only teach how to get the sound that comes out of the instrument but also the co-operation and co-ordination. This is what Bronsonians need in abudance, which Bronsonians have begun learning along with the beautiful flow of music. The instrument comprises of “1 Soprano Cornet, 10 Cornets, 1 Flugelhorn, 3 Tenor horns, 2 Baritone horns, 2 Tenor Trambones, 1 Bass Trombone, 2 Euphoniums, 4 Tubas, 3 Percussion and 2 Bass Drums”.Brass Bands are one of the world’s most widespread forms of amateur mu-sic performance. All the Bronsonians are giving their utmost and are trying to come up with the music terms.A week of practice had brought in a successful Brass Band at MBRS. Now these Bronsonians have a special flow of the music along with Sa re ga ma, general salute etc and many more.

The Interschool Swimming Championship was held on 28th and 29th May 2016 at the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education, Sonapur.Altogether fourteen schools of the city took part in the meet where competitions were organized in forty eight categories and twelve students of MBRS actively participated in it.We were highly elated by the ‘Opening Ceremony’ of the Swimming competition hosted by D.P.S, which showcased a series of well-organized programmes. Then we went to LNIPE, the venue for the competition. It started with the Junior Category, where Udipta Mazumdar of our school became the first and was rewarded with the Gold Medal.

The competition was very challenging but we all tried our best.On the second day it was our turn i.e. Senior Category. Unfortunately we couldn’t achieve any prize. But we are resolute to use this failure as our pillar of success for the upcoming events. We learned the reasons of our mis-takes. Even though we didn’t achieve any prize, we didn’t come empty handed for. we gained experiences that will surely help do the best in the upcoming IPSC Swimming Competition to be held in the month of july (19th - 21st July Boys and 3rd -5th Oct, Girls)

On 20th April 2016, we got our-selves introduced to the MBRS family. The day was full of new experiences in a new surrounding. Both the parents and their wards at-tended the orientation programme. It went on parellely in two differ-ent venues. We had a glimpse of the school’s policy, it’s long journey, achievements and the future plan. We had an ice-breaking session too and we all got a chance to get intro-duced to each other. I was looking with wonder at everything that my eyes caught sight of! I was amazed by it’s infrastructure and thanked my parents for selecting this school. I know by now, the two years stay here should be utilized fruitfully. Life is not ‘to eat the fish always but also learn how to catch the fish’! On the Induction Day itself I learnt I need to plunge myself into the sea if I need to catch the fish!

World Environment Day is celebrated on 5th June ev-ery year. People all over the world celebrate this day by planting saplings and organizing various functions in an attempt to raise awareness against the degrading environment. Just like the rest of the world, World Environment Day was celebrated in our school as well. The slogan for this year was, “USE DUSTBINS FOR LIFE” The day was celebrated by conducting various programmes like slo-gan writing, poster making and debating. There was also a programme of tree plantation in which two students

from each class planted saplings in the school compound. Besides, we were also blessed with the gracious presence of Mrs. Birubala Rabha, who is fighting against the despicable practice of witch hunting. After getting a glimpse of her life from her documentary film we were deeply impressed by her bravery and struggle. She made us all understand that one

needs neither home nor fame to make a change.World Envi-ronment Day is celebrated by everyone by displaying love and care towards Mother Nature. But our love and care should not be limited to these twenty four hours only. We should be eco-friendly in ev-ery step of our life. Only then can we hope for a cleaner, safer and greener environment.

MBRS observes the Yoga DayYoga is about awakening. It is about creating a life that brings more beauty and more love in the world. Yoga Day is celebrated annually on 21st June since its inception in 2015. The International Day for Yoga was declared by UNGA (United National General Assembly) on December 11, 2014 almost unanimously. Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice attributed mostly to India. The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his UN ad-dress suggested the date June 21st because it is the longest day of

the year in the Northern Hemisphere and share special significance to take forward the momentum created by the International Day of Yoga 2015 with greater and more active participation of Youth during the current year celebration The day dedicated to Yoga was observed by millions across the world which was the largest Yoga performance simultaneously performed by a single uniform youth organisation to bring it in the Limca Book of Records by performing it at multiple venues. In MBRS it was observed in the early morning from 5:15am to 5.45am. The day was observed very meticulously with the students from Tsangpo, Lohit and Mansarovor house in the Basketball court. It embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action, restrain and fulfilment, harmony between human and nature ; a holistic approach to health and well-being. Dubai round II Debate competition organized by World’s Scholar’s Cup, was held in GEMS World Academy, Dubai. Me and two of my friends Deepjyoti and Dani Pading along with our Teacher- in-charge started our journey on 25th May at around 12:45 p.m. We reached the LGBI airport, had our refreshment and started our flight journey. After reaching Dubai we went to a hotel named ‘Golden Sands 10’ at around 2 am early in the morning. We were tired and sleepy

and so we went to bed. After taking rest for some hours we woke up , took our breakfast and started practising for debate. We practised almost the whole day except for some hours enjoying in the kitchen making coffee and in the washroom washing clothes. The next day was the debate competition. We

were really nervous about it and we tried with our full effort but unfortu-nately we lost the first round. However we did not lose our heart and with confidence we tried the second round. Finally our hard work paid off as our school won four medals i.e. a gold and three silver medals. We were really very happy and the thing which made us more happy was when our school got selected for the Global round in Bangkok. We enjoyed the next day by visiting one of the sea beaches, Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa and many more. On the last day, we went to Abu Dhabi where we saw a grand mosque. After that we went to a park and then to Emirates’ palace. We

came back from the palace, had our lunch. Later we went back to the hotel, took our luggage and then straight to the airport. The trip was quite successful for it built in us the strength and confidence to participate and compete with the participants from around the globe. It was indeed a great reward and a moment of pride.

The programme got kick start on 15th June2016. It’s an elaborative pro-gramme divided into two components: theory and practical .Students are divided into groups and initially theoretical classes on the rules and tech-niques of the game are given. This is followed by actual practice classes which are conducted in the afternoon during the games period in the new-ly developed Mini Golf Course in our campus. It is really encouraging to see an overwhelming re-

sponse from students who are showing keen interest in develop-ing their golfing skills. In the present green area five holes have been made to teach putting skills which will be followed by chip-ping and driving. Through calculated shots and drives to meet the ultimate target in golf, students will improve their concentration, patience and life skills. Above all it’s a game which can be played at any age and health state of a person.

“Vision leads to change, change leads to difference, difference leads to progress and progress in my eyes is success.”With such a vision and passion, the foundation of their organization was laid. The Founder and President of the organization, Mr. Shreyansh Bha-lotia has attended over 60 Debates and MUNs and takes keen interest in training and educating the young minds.

In the North East, MBRS had the proud privilege to host the workshop and the debating competitions on 17th and 18th June. Being the North East Chapter the school witnessed an amalgamation of students from in and around the city and the outstation. The team gave lessons on differ-

ent debating skills. The students from Class VI to Class XII par-ticipated in different compe-titions and won prizes too. It was a great learning experience and quite encouraging too to see the students preparing themselves under headings like 1. The Rising Intelligentsia, 2. Mesmerize the Moment, 3. Environ-mental Responsibility, 4. Journalism and Photojournalism to name a few. The most exciting were 1. Turn coat and 2. Declamation. The buzz word

for the two days was ‘Vox Populi’ for both the students and the teachers were equally enthusiastic in the prepara-tion and performance. Whatsoever, now whenever such opportunities come, we need to grab and excel.

The Eco Club has been introduced in MBRS with the objec-tive to empower students to explore environmental concepts and actions beyond the confines of the curriculum. The club consists of teacher members along with a group of motivated students to learn about environment and take action to im-prove the environment quality. With this view a number of eco-Captains were selected from each class along with an eco-Secretary whose prime objective should be to make MBRS greener and cleaner which should start from within the class-room. The members were adorned with badges in the morning

Assembly by the revered Principal on 22/06/2016 followed by his speech where he specifically mentioned the six core areas that we all need to take care of. They are creating a pollution free land , air, water and saving electric-ity, water and no to wastage of food. With the IGBC Green Schools, Silver Award being the 1st Green School in Eastern and Northeast India the responsibility to maintain sustainable green environment has increased and hands joined together we would achieve more laudable targets. We hope the Eco Club will provide a wonderful opportunity to help generate awareness, build attitudes and enable students take up activities towards a clean and green world.
