Dear Students,

Take Warm Greetings. The year 2019 will be a special landmark of our

college as we are going to start NCC unit under 2nd Bengal Battalion, Fort

William, Kolkata. This NCC will enrich our college students with spirit of

Nationalism and discipline. I am also glad to announce that in the last Golden

Jubilee year 2018, we were proud with the Education World’s declaration that

Achayra Jagadish Chandra Bose College is among the top thirteen colleges

in Calcutta. According to the Education World survey 2019, we are ranked 15

among the Interdisciplinary colleges in Kolkata and we are elevated in

ranking from 95 to 71 among all such colleges in India. This recognition has

been long due to this premier Degree College named after the celebrated

Bengali scientist, Jagadish Chandra Bose.

Since its inception in 1968, the college has been relentlessly working in

imparting quality education to the diverse group learners coming from different

strata of the society. Our approach to education is holistic. We aim at all round

development of the students coming from multidimensional structures of society

to this college. Our motto is not to produce better professionals alone but also to

craft better human beings as deserve by the society. We aim to educate young

men and women within a framework of liberal and republican values to equip

them to excel in the service of the nation. To achieve our objective class-room

teaching is complemented with a wide range of co-curricular activities. Our

educators impart knowledge as well as work as trainers in the gym of mind.

In pursuit of excellence in learning we maintain transparency in the

admission process fully online where students need not require to physically

appearing at college premises as opted by Govt. of West Bengal, which is a

robust work culture and value discipline combined with freedom of thought and

expression. We have able, experienced, dedicated faculty in the college to

make our mission successful. The teachers are in the habit of maintaining a

great liaison with the students. They remain available within and without the

college hours to assist the students in every possible way. We have a bunch of

dedicated staff members in the office that go all out to help the students. We

have a Governing Body with optimum functionality and the members always

support the stakeholders in their pursuit of excellence in education.

We are the pioneer in the field of students’ based education in colleges

where each student has right to evaluate their teachers regarding quality based

teaching and learning at end of each class and to sign the diary of teachers with

comment of improvement if any. This will ensure regular teaching and learning

which will help us in reaching a centre of Educational Excellence. Besides,

students can be able to give fit back before the time of final examination. We

also arrange teachers-students-guardians meet to communicate regarding the

improvement and progress of students.

We are used to arrange Knowledge Exchange Programme with various

reputed colleges in all subjects with skilled teachers in various disciplines. We

are used to arrange Campus Recruitment Programme where various companies

offer their job suitable for our students. In last year only Tata Group has selected

18 students with a very attractive salary packages.

Besides, we have arranged to offer our beloved students to participate in

Free Employment Training in collaboration with the 361 Degree, An Institute of

Competitive Studies. This programme will lead our students to enhance their skill

in competitive examinations to obtain both central and state government job

including campus recruitment examinations taken over by various companies

and Banks.

The college has recorded an innumerable constant development in

infrastructure of learning to recognize itself as an educational excellence. The

college has started to construct its 2nd phase Building to solve the problem of

class rooms which will be completed shortly. The college has a green campus

with greenery plants and shrubs, modern canteen, clean drinking water supply in

all floors with aqua guards, with 24 hours CC TV observation. Besides, the

college has ICT class room, computer based Laboratory, N-listed Library,

internet based IT Laboratory etc.

We have some shortcomings on the infrastructural front, but we are

working day in and out to make up for that. We have installed different

technological tools in the class rooms to create better learning environment.

Very soon the college will have a new wing added to its existing facilities. The

space crunch we have will soon be over.

Wishing you all the best Dr. Purna Chandra Maity Principal
