Laboratory Mechanical Testing DNV has state-of-the art mechanical testing equipment that can provide both standard and custom tests. We specialize in testing in corrosive service environments and offer two hydrogen sulfide laboratories that allow us to test in environments that other facilities cannot handle. Our specialized capabilities include: Slow strain rate and compact tension specimen testing in corrosive solutions and supporting analysis Crack growth rate (CGR) and crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) measurement and analysis Hydrotesting of full size lengths of pipe Proof ring testing to study stress corrosion cracking or sulfide stress cracking Autoclave bend testing with various gas mixtures and pressures up to 5,000 psi and/or temperatures up to 500°C. Metallography and SEM fractography Fracture Mechanics and Failure Analysis In addition to our state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, we provide leading experts in fracture mechanics and failure analysis. Experimental design, statistical analyses, failure analysis, and software development are all part of the services we offer. Our familiarity with ASME and API standards also allows us to perform fitness-for-service assessments. Finite Element Modeling In many cases our mechanical testing and analysis can be supported by finite element modeling. The stress concentrations experienced in unusually shaped engineering parts or those subjected to unusual loading conditions cannot always be analyzed by simple textbook equations. Finite element modeling allows us to better understand stress distributions, or calculate stress intensity factors, which can lead to better designs of parts or better understanding of the root causes of failures. These can also be used in support of fracture toughness research efforts, integrity assessments or failure analyses. DNV provides you with mechanical and fracture mechanic testing expertise that can reduce the risk of failures and improve the design of engineering parts. Laboratory Mechanical Testing

DNV has state-of-the art mechanical testing equipment that can provide both standard and custom tests. We specialize in testing in corrosive service environments and offer two hydrogen sulfide laboratories that allow us to test in environments that other facilities cannot handle. Our specialized capabilities include: • Slow strain rate and compact tension specimen testing in

corrosive solutions and supporting analysis • Crack growth rate (CGR) and crack mouth opening

displacement (CMOD) measurement and analysis • Hydrotesting of full size lengths of pipe • Proof ring testing to study stress corrosion cracking or sulfide

stress cracking • Autoclave bend testing with various gas mixtures and

pressures up to 5,000 psi and/or temperatures up to 500°C. • Metallography and SEM fractography

Fracture Mechanics and Failure Analysis

In addition to our state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, we provide leading experts in fracture mechanics and failure analysis. Experimental design, statistical analyses, failure analysis, and software development are all part of the services we offer. Our familiarity with ASME and API standards also allows us to perform fitness-for-service assessments.

Finite Element Modeling

In many cases our mechanical testing and analysis can be supported by finite element modeling.
