Reports School have flexibility in
reporting to parents this semester due
to Covid-19. Following the NSW
Department of Education guidelines,
your child’s Semester 1 report will
report on key skills in English and
Mathematics. Students will not be given
A-E gradings. Teachers are currently
assessing learning for every student on
essential skills in literacy and numeracy
and determining next steps in learning.
Reports will be distributed the first
week of Term 3 and parent teacher
interviews will follow early in the term.

For your calendar
Thank you to all our families for your continued support with the
staggered arrival and dismissal times. Please continue to work with us
as our processes have been very successful and ensure continued
safety for our whole school community. Some positive observations we
have seen are that many of our younger students have developed
more independence in taking themselves to the playground and
straight to their classrooms and our older students have assumed the
responsibility for their younger siblings and demonstrated leadership in
so many ways. The students and staff have really enjoyed being back
at school full time and we are hoping we receive updated advice from
the Department that allows us to return to our more regular
procedures.
Teacher communication with parents Our teachers are busy
teaching and assessing their students. As you have learnt, this is a
full-time task, leaving little time for other things. Our teachers get 2
hours per week free from face to face teaching for lesson preparation
and responding to parent questions. Unlike the remote learning
platforms during COVID-19, our teachers are unable to respond to
your questions as quickly as they were previously. We seek your
understanding and patience. Our teachers will respond to your
questions within 48 hours.
Supporting our Students Our teachers have been supporting all
students to re-learn our school expectations. They have been
conducting playground tours reminding children of where and how to
play safely and cooperatively, how to wear their school uniform with
pride and the importance of relationships. Teachers have prioritised
wellbeing lessons on gratitude and optimistic thinking. As children
begin to resettle into school, our teachers are also looking for evidence
of learning. We have employed additional casuals to release teachers
from face to face teaching (in addition to their preparation time) to
interview each student to gather current data about reading,
comprehension, writing and number. We realise that for some students
the absence from school may have had an impact on learning and it is
our priority to ensure that any gaps are identified and learning is
catered for.
Our home learning survey has been a great help with this! The information has been distributed to the Learning Support Team and class teachers, so we can use the data to support our students. A huge thank you to all the parents who took the time to fill out the survey.

The Kindergarten Echidnas have been learning how healthy food choices can promote well-being. We loved getting
creative with our impressive artworks!
We examined the artworks of Sally Morgan and read all about her journey to becoming one of Australia’s most
popular Aboriginal artists. We were inspired to do our own artwork that incorporates elements of Morgan’s
work and explored the theme of this year’s Reconciliation Week, ‘We Are All in This Together’.
The Rosellas have been practicing their dramatic flair with their Readers Theatre production.
