1 Newsletter No. 11 - Term 2 Week 2 Thursday 27 April 2017 From the Acting Principal……… It has been a fabulous start to Term 2. Children (and teachers) have all settled back in beautifully. We have enjoyed welcoming Lochie Anderson, a new teacher in Grade 5/6, and just this week, appointed Mitchell Peacock as the teacher replacing Jo Ross for her maternity leave. Both Lochie and Mitchell have already embraced their new roles, eagerly learning all they can about Kalinda and our specific approach to educating your children. As I write this newsletter, Lochie and Mitchell are participating in the first of a two-day THRASS workshop. I would like to say a very big thank you to Mrs Karen Johns and the School Leadership Team, Mason, Charlie, Zack and Jess for their organisation and presentation of a wonderful ANZAC Day reflection during Monday morning’s assembly. It was clear that their presentation was influenced by the emotions stirred in all of them at the ANZAC Day commemoration ceremony they attended on the previous Friday at the Shrine of Remembrance. The behaviour and maturity of these students representing Kalinda Primary School on this occasion, and at the Ringwood Clock Tower on the morning of ANZAC Day, speaks so much about the capable and confident students we have at Kalinda. Congratulations to Mr Steve Harvey and Mr Tim Gooley for their organisation of a most wonderful opportunity for all our students to participate in today’s whole school cross country running event. It was a terrific display of house colours and school spirit. Again, it was affirming to watch our Grade 5/6 students as leaders, encouraging and modelling participation.
