After I heard about somerecent activity in our town andheard all the gossiping about howdreadful it is here, I thought I’d check it out.

The UK Crime stats report crimes broken down intocategories: Anti-Social, Burglary, Robbery, Vehicle Crime,Violent Crime and others, (although I’m not too sure whatthat is). It appears that in all areas of the country mostcrimes are made up in almost equal proportions with anti-social or other, and form between 65% – 75% of all crimes.Although we have considerably smaller population thanother parts of the UK, the fact is, we actually have a reallysmall crime rate in Towcester compared to other parts of thecountry, although the figures are steadily increasing.Back in December 2010 South Northamptonshire had atotal just 261 crimes but in July 2011 a total 409. That’s agrowth of 36% in just 8 months, surely we can’t continue atthis rate.Is it true I wonder - if the recession has anything to do withit, and yes I can accept that maybe it can, does that meanthat when this “recession” is over our crime rate will reduceagain by 38%? I wonder…

The "Indian Chief” Narrowboat will be sailingalong the grand union canal again thisyear on Saturdays and Sundays throughoutDecember for the famous Santa Cruises.

Sitwell who has just completed writing a book “AHistory of Food in 100 Recipes” to be published byHarper Collins in March next year.Aldo, in his address, commented on the size of theonions and carrots on display and praised bothexhibitors and organizers for their hard work in puttingon such a brilliant show. Local growers and producers find new outlet at...The Running Bean is a community market thatsupports and promotes locally grown produceincluding meats, vegetables, fruits and cakes. Its aimis to serve the area to promote the community andenable local producers to have a secure retail outlet.

An extra hour – the thought of anextra hour delights me and then mademe wonder if we really need all that sleep, when I startedto think about this, it all seemed like a waste of time!

The average person sleeps about 7 or 8 hours anight: An average of 49 hours each week – that’smore than most people work in a week. There areonly 168 hours in a complete week - so we actuallyspend 30% of our lives sleeping. I can’t think of asingle thing I do that takes up 30% of my time!

Maybe it’s just me, but how many of you say, there aren’tenough hours in the day or enough days in the week. Wellit’s hardly surprising is it because by the time we reach 40we have spent an average of 11.5 years just sleeping!
