Press the front control panel switch

Removing the power supply (PP1/PP2) from the unit

For checking the switchover of the clock system can be done by:

1. Testing the control with the front panel switch (FCTRL), and

2. Removing the power supply connection (PP1/PP2) from the unit.

Do this first to the active and then to the passive unit.

Step 6 – Clock Equipment CheckChecking the Synchronization unit

• CL3TGs have four synchronisation inputs. The clock synchronisation unit switches over to use the input 2M1 first, then 2M2, 2M3, and 2M4 respectively, within the time TR.

• The default values of ET16s are 368, 640, 256, and 524• The default time value is 10 minutes.• On both CL3TG plug-in units, the indicator lamp for the synchronisation input in

question is lit.• Checking the synchronization unit can be done by doing:• Simulating the synchronization input:

– Make a loop-back: 1 4; 2 5– Connect the loop-backs to the ETs– Set all synchronisation inputs to the state CONNECTED.– Open new synchronisation input (DRC). ZDRC:2M2;– Delete the synchronisation inputs (DRD). ZDRD:2M2;– The synchronisation input 2M1 should be in the state CONNECTED and in use (USED

INPUT). Check this with the DRI command: ZDRI;– The other synchronisation inputs should also be in the CONNECTED state.

• Checking the synchronisation unit with a changeover– Check the indicator lamp.– Make a changeover to the backup connection (DRS, DRI).– Disconnect the second loop-back.– Make a changeover to internal oscillator (DRI).– Make a synchronisation with external clock.

When disconnecting the first (and the other) loop-back, the following messages are displayed on the alarm printer:

2641 FAILURE IN SYNCHRONISATION SIGNAL

0630 SYNCHRONISATION SIGNAL CHANGED

Step 9 – ESB Switch CheckingLocal reset and the Hotswap button in the ESB switch

• The ESB switches are located in the MCMU and LANU units.

• The ESB switch can be disconnected without switching the power off from other PIUs in the MCMU or LANU.

The tests are:

1. Local reset and the Hotswap button in the ESB switch

– Check the Operation Indicator.▪ Green indicates that the unit is operational.

▪ Red is lit during the power up and in fault conditions.

▪ Blinking, it means that no image software is loaded.

▪ No light, it means that the power is off.

– Perform the local restart (press reset button) and the hotswap.

– Repeat for each ESB

ESB24

The ESB switch gets power from the MCMU or LANU unit. The ESB switch can be disconnected without switching the power off from other PIUs in the MCMU or LANU.

Steps

Expand/collapse all

Check the Operation Indicator.

The Operation Indicator (OPR) is a single two-colour led (green/red) in the front panel of the ESB switch.

Explanations on the indicator light:

Green indicates that the unit is operational.

Red is lit during the power up and in fault conditions.

If the light is blinking, it means that no image software is loaded.

If there is no light, it means that the power is off.

Green is the default colour for the OPR.

Perform the local restart and the hotswap.

To perform the hotswap, press the Hotswap reset button (RST) twice within two seconds before removing the card. The power is turned off for 20 seconds, during which the card can be removed safely.

Set the ESB switch.

Set the ESB switch back to its position. The OPR should be first red and after a while change to green.

Repeat steps 1 to 3 with every ESB switch.
