Let me start this issue with a heartfelt Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! In recent years, some people have been trying to remove “Christ” from Christmas. So I say, why stop at Christmas? Why don’t we go ahead and take the “Thanks” out of Thanksgiving? That way we can skip that pesky Pilgrim and Indian story that obviously plays no relevance to our history; I mean, Plymouth Rock would have been settled eventually… right? While we’re at it, let’s nix the “Memorial” from Memorial Day. That way we won’t have to concern ourselves with having to take the time to remember all of those Americans who have died while protecting our right to not remember them. If Memorial Day is going, then we had better get rid of Labor Day as well. I mean, if we aren’t going to remember Christ, the pilgrims, or all of the people who died for our freedom, why would we want to remember regular people whose only accomplishment was building America from the ground up for the past 240 Individual Highlights: Poor Farmers RV Sales, Service & Campground Inc. 7211 N. Also in the group for Labor Day are our past presidents, ancestors, and all of the public figures that we remember from time to time, which would eliminate Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, President’s Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Now, some of you may feel that Christmas is a religious holiday and that is why it should not be a national holiday. If that is the case, you had better make different plans for: Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Halloween, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Yom Kippur because all of these holidays are based on some sort of religious figure(s). There you have it, the bottom of the slippery slope that is started by removing Christ from Christmas. By the time we finish all we will have left is New Years and April Fool’s Day… how ironic. When finished removing every ounce of history from our calendar, maybe they will finally be able to get started on destroying our museums and National Monuments. The Point of this article is not just so I can vent about ideals and actions that I don’t agree with. The point of this article is to remind everyone that being an American does not mean that you can have it your way; if you’re looking for that kind of treatment, hit Burger King. Being an American is about not being forced to have it someone else’s way. If you don’t want to celebrate Christmas, nobody is forcing you to, but don’t think you have to change it or eliminate it just because you feel you are free to do so, again, this is not Burger King. Just be happy in the fact that your American brothers and sisters are allowed to celebrate the birth of their savior and you have the choice to not celebrate. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Once again, the Recreational Vehicle Industry of America (RVIA) hosted the 2015 National RV Trade Show in Louisville, KY. This event is not open to the public. Only dealers, manufacturers, and related businesses are permitted to attend. This gives the entire industry a chance to see what the hot items were for 2015, as well as what is coming for 2016. Andrea and I were able to connect with many of our current business partners and make some new connections. One new connection that I think is worth mentioning is an organization named Tents for Troops. Tent for Troops is a non-profit organization that allows active duty military members the opportunity to camp with their families at no cost. Tents for Troops is also spearheading a program that will allow active duty military members access to RV’s all across the U.S. for nightly or weekend camping. Poor Farmer’s RV was officially the first RV dealership to sign up for this program. www.tentsfortroops.org

The show was held at the Kentucky Expo Center, which allows 1.2 million square foot of indoor space, and every inch was used for this show. After the first three hours of walking around on Wednesday, Andrea had all of her steps in. Those of you with FitBits will understand. All-in-all, the event gave us a chance to see new products, meet new people and above all else, restock on foam stress balls, mini samples, and other useful marketing items; and the kids like them, so we don’t have to buy anything extra for them.

It seems that everyone is doing ok. The weather has been relatively calm for us so far. Please remember to keep your sites free from clutter and if the grass gets wet and soft please park on the gravel. We hope that you all had a great Thanksgiving and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. The shelter is free for you to use for a fire or for wifi. Due to the lack of snow, the rest of the page will be white stuff related. Enjoy the snowman cartoons!

Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray! 2016 is almost here and we still have so much more to do before our millennium turns sweet 16. We have to shop for a sweet 16 dress, order the cake, invite the other millennia to the party and put up groovy decorations; but first, we have to watch Star Wars! I can’t think of a better preface to our millennium’s 16th birthday. Even though this Star Wars movie will have better special effects and more realistic appearing aliens, us old farts will claim that the first three episodes are far superior for the simple fact that George Lucas was well ahead of his time in 1977 and of course because we are old farts. Happy New Year and May the Force be with You!
