I have received emails, phone calls, and even a couple of threatening letters requesting the next issue of The Monthly Chatter. As most of you know, November was a very big month for me. On November 9 th , Andrea and I had our wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony, and best of all, it was short. The reception was amazing! Andrea and I would like to thank Marty & Melissa Bercot, Janice Werts, Jenny Till, Jimmy Weaver and our Mothers for all the work they did to make the evening great. The best part of a wedding is the Honeymoon. For our Honeymoon we were able to take our three boys on a Florida camping trip. We hit Mayfield Dairy, Disney World, Legoland, and we finished out the vacation at “No More Money Land. However, the trip was worth every cent and we got some great memories that will last a lifetime. We also got an eleven year old named Jaiden who will forever ask, “When are we going back?” Now that I am married and back from vacation, it’s time for Christmas; the only problem is that I am still sitting on the tea cup ride at “No More Money” Land. That’s okay though, Christmas isn’t about spending money; it’s about spending time with family and friends, sharing in the blessings of God, and eating good food. That’s what I’m trying to get across to the kids anyway. Once the hussle and bussle of Christmas is over, we will be ready for the year 2014. I know that number makes many of you look back at when you were a kid and thought 2014 was a date you would only see in a Sci-Fi movie, but it is here. We have sent rockets to Mars only 100 years after the invention of the plane. We have survived much in our lives and the best stuff we have yet to see. Well, I am back on track and will have these Chatters out monthly again so please stop sending the threatening letters; we all need a break sometimes. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. -Mike

Welcome to another season of Polar Farmer camping! Polar Farmer’s are those campers who spend the winter with us here at Poor Farmer’s Campground; whether it’s because your working, going to school, or because you just can’t bear to leave us. Here is a little info for you to remember. The front of the shelter is still available if you would like to start a fire and roast some marshmallows or just to keep your tootsie’s warm, feel free to get it fired up. Be respectful to your neighbors as you are much closer to each other than normal up by the shelter. This includes the restrooms; please be mindful of others when you are using the facilities by picking up after yourself and reporting any broken fixtures. Also, make sure that you leave the drive open next to the outside faucet so that everyone has plenty of room to access the water. On top of everything else, please make sure that you have enough propane to get you through the night. We close the parts, sales, and service on Sunday and don’t want you to run out while we are gone. Here is to you Polar Farmer’s, let us know if there is anything you need, short of a plane ticket to Florida, and we will do our best to help you through the winter. Thanks and stay warm!

Attention

Activity

Committee! I would like to start by throwing out a huge Thank You to our 2013 Activity Committee. Rick and Deb Levally, Denny and Jacque Shoenleben, Larry and Barb Slusser, Kenny and Alice Everett, Rick and Cindy Mangen, Dick and Nancy Hile, Frankie Morrow, Roy Steele, Larry and Cathy Brandyberry, Lee and Ruth Perkins, and all of the staff here at the campground. January 11, 2014 (4pm at the parts store) will be the first Activity Committee meeting of the New Year. We will go over the 2014 schedule, new activity ideas, and how to improve on activities from 2013. All of you who are interested in helping with campground activities are welcome. We have been dreaming up all kinds of new activities for 2014, such as a Golf Cart Rodeo, Minute-to-Win it, and one I’m pushing for… an earth worm eating contest; although I am meeting some heavy resistance so far. We also have some surprise awards and give-aways that are going to knock your socks off. Unfortunately, we will not be giving away new socks.

Welcome back readers! It has been a while since our last issue but it only means we will have lots of wonderful things to talk about in this article, the snow, the rain, the holidays, the food, the cold and all of the other wonderful things that come along with the winter months. I am so ready for Spring to get here so I can see you all again. I’m ready to open windows and plant flowers but until that happens we will be putting on extra layers for warmth. The holidays were amazing, lots of cookies, friends and family smiles and laughs. It sure does come and go faster and faster each year. Don’t you think it would be better to have one cold day a week all year instead of back to back cold for three months? Change approved! Let’s try that next year! The snow! We had some then rain and then some more snow. It was so much fun seeing all of the snowmen and forts built by the little ones around. All of the rain would have made some awesome snow for everyone but it would have been A LOT of snow so maybe it is a good thing it was rain there for a few days! Food Food Food!!! I do not want to see another cookie! Every time I look at one it whispers in an evil voice “EAT ME” and I eat it. Oh my belly hurts. Lots of delicious treats were brought in to the parts store to munch on and they were all amazing so THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! You may bring more in any time, don’t feel the need to wait till next Christmas! Spring will come soon enough and we will be busy running around this place making sure everyone has a super smile on their face! So enjoy the down time. Please stop in and see us at the parts store. We hope everyone had a great holiday season and hurry up and get back here to camp and enjoy the fellowship! Can’t wait to see you all!

1st Annual Golf Cart Rodeo

The date is not yet set in stone, but one thing you can be sure of is that the 1st Annual Golf Cart Rodeo is going to be a spectacular show. Rick Levally (pictured left) is hosting his first of many Golf Cart Rodeos. Gas and Electric carts will be competing for a plethora of prizes. He will have them drag racing, running through the mud and dirt at speeds you’ve never seen a from a golf cart in his uniquely designed o-course, and much more fast fun without the need for speed bumps or seatbelts. Watch the Chatter for updates on this event. Even if you don’t have a cart, this Golf Cart Rodeo will definitely be something you don’t want to miss.

Charlie’s Chat

Isaac Combs

How may I

help you?

You’ve seen him on our Facebook page; you’ve seen him on our website; you’ve seen him in the store; now get to know the real man behind the smile. Isaac Combs is the newest member to the parts store here at Poor Farmer’s RV. He is friendly, motivated, and willing to put up with the General Manager’s silliness. Now let me tell you a little bit about Isaac that he would probably not want anyone to know. Isaac is 21 years old and was born in the far away land of Troy, Ohio. He is a single father of a one year old angel, Maddison. Did you hear that girls… I said he is single; and in this writer’s opinion, is in need of a good woman to keep him in line. Therefore, I will be accepting applications here at the parts store if you are interested in hooking up with this fine young man. That’s right; all applications

must be approved by me before Isaac is allowed to take you on a date. As a member of the Poor Farmer’s Family, he must adhere to our strict dating policy. Isaac enjoys hunting, fishing, shooting pool, playing video games, and of course, spending time with his daughter. But most of all, he enjoys helping the campers at Poor Farmer’s with all of their RV needs. As Isaac learns the trade, he will be less likely to bug me for help so get into the store and give this kid something to do and remember, if he doesn’t greet you with a smile, he owes me ten push-ups. Be sure to let me know, because I love those little orange sherbet treats. BTW, Denise had to look up sherbet in a dictionary for me. How is it not spelled sherbert? Welcome to the family Isaac, I know you will do well and have fun. Not too much fun though, we still have a

lot of work to do. Now that I think about it, we should probably leave fun in the rear view. That way we don’t lose our train of thought. Now get back to work.

Camping check lists make every trip much more enjoyable

in several ways. Here are just a few:

1. First, the whole family gets involved in making out your camping check list.

Everyone’s excitement and anticipation will increase. Making out your check list

months ahead is one way of really starting your vacation early.

2. Second, check lists help you organize and pack your camping gear. The check list

reminds you what to bring, and where to pack it. When you are getting ready to go,

you can easily see what errands you need to run in order to pick up those last few

items.

3. Third, check lists help you remember to take everything with you. No one likes to get

to camp and find out they forgot some important item.

4. Fourth, check lists help you remember what not to bring next time. Every trip is a

little different, so make notes on your check list about what camping gear you used,

what you didn’t, and what you wished you had taken. This lets you plan to make your

next camping trip even better.

I know there have been headaches, worry, and a fair amount of frustration that has come from being a mother. Just be glad that between the three of us kids… at least you were able to have a perfect angel for a son.

Happy Birthday from all of us at Poor Farmer’s RV
