Asia’s World Entertainment Market FILMART just celebrated its 14th edition with great success in March 2010. As a leading event in Asia and an important film market in the global film calendar, it attracts renowned producers, distributors, investors and professionals from around the world to launch full scale promotion, network with key industry players and negotiate deals. 2010 Highlights Group pavilions organised by China Film Promotion International <China>, Unifrance <France>,

JETRO & UNIJAPAN <Japan>, KOFIC <Korea>, FINAS & MDeC <Malaysia>, Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions with the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc <Philippines>, Association of Independent Television Production Companies Singapore (AIPRO) <Singapore>, Taipei Film Commission & Taipei Audio-Video Production Association <Taiwan>, Department of Export Promotion <Thailand>, UK Film Council <UK>, Israel Export Institute <Israel>, PPFI <Indonesia> etc. New pavilions were also organised by Shanghai Zhangjiang Animation & Technology Co., Ltd. <China>, Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) <Korea>.

TV World: The thematic initiative was joined by 157 companies to explore global TV business

opportunities through various activities, including an elaborated International TV Forum. Animation & Digital Entertainment World: A total of 88

exhibitors from digital content hotbeds such as Chinese mainland, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

Equipment & Post-production Services Pavilion: A total of 37

leading companies from Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Ukraine showcased their state-of-the-art products and services. In particular, the Association of Motion Picture Post Production Professionals (AMP4) returned to FILMART with 13 member companies to form the Hong Kong

Motion Picture Post Production Pavilion which featured the latest service and technology of post production (in particularly on the 3D technology) provided by Hong Kong companies.

TV World Thematic Zone

FILMART breathed life into a new initiative in 2007 to keep up with the pace of an expanding TV industry worldwide. As a thematic platform co-organised by the Hong Kong Televisioners Association, TV World endeavours to drive more business opportunities for the small screen marketplace. Worldwide participants

157 exhibitors from 20 countries and regions grouped together to contribute to this initiative

90% of TV exhibitor respondents said they were able to achieve their objectives in FILMART, which top three objectives were: to establish new business contacts; to generate business; and to strengthen current business network.

47 different titles of TV dramas, animation and documentaries were showcased.

International Forum

Top-notch speakers were invited to share the latest market trends and development, attracting more than 200 international broadcasting professionals to participate in the event.

The pavilion was inaugurated in 2006 to facilitate dealings between producers, equipment firms and post houses. Concurrent Events

Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF)

Held concurrently with the FILMART for the fifth time, the 8th HAF was organised by The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS), co-organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Hong Kong Motion Picture Industry Association Ltd. (MPIA), and sponsored by Film Development Fund (FDF).

A core event of the Entertainment Expo Hong Kong, HAF is Asia's premier project market designed to connect Asian filmmakers with upcoming film projects with internationally prominent film financiers, producers, bankers, distributors, buyers, and funders for co-production ventures. HAF is the ideal venue for discovering and investing in emerging Asian talent, and for first-look opportunities of their latest projects. Attended by more than 1,000 filmmakers and financiers from 35 territories, around 25 projects are selected annually to participate in the three-day event.

Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF)

The Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) is one of Asia’s most reputable platforms for filmmakers, film professionals and filmgoers from all over the world to launch new works and experience outstanding films. Screening over 290 titles from more than 50 countries in 11 major cultural venues across the territory, the Festival is Hong Kong’s largest cultural event that reaches an audience of over 600,000 including 5,000 business executives who attend the Hong Kong Film and Television Market (FILMART), a concurrent event of the HKIFF. Committed to discovering new talent, the Festival premieres the breadth of Chinese cinema and showcases Asian talents. As a lifestyle event, festival-goers can enjoy world-class films, attend seminars hosted by leading filmmakers from around the world, visit film exhibitions, join celebration parties, and more. The Festival draws extensive media coverage from over 560 global press members and continues to grow in vital importance as the premier platform to launch films to Asia. Asian Film Awards (AFA)

Inaugurated in 2007, the Asian Film Awards (AFA) is an international pioneering programme, honoring filmmakers with outstanding achievements in the field of Asian cinema. Eminent filmmakers and superstars from around the world are invited to bestow awards upon winners of each category, making the ceremony an elaborate extravaganza. A panel of jury, comprised of international professionals and prominent members in the community of world cinema, will select among eligible films produced in the region in that year and decide the award winners.
