Christ in the tabernacle is burning this week in memory of Edward Iezzi by Family.

The 2021 Diocesan Lenten Appeal is offering parish-

ioners throughout the Diocese of Greensburg a chance to “Be the Light” for their faith community. The Lenten season is a reminder that Christ is the light in our lives and this is an opportunity to “Be the Light” for those in need. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone in some way and this includes the faithful of the dio-

cese. There is a way to help by supporting the 2021 Di-ocesan Lenten Appeal. Even a small gift can make a big difference in your parish. Donate to the “Be the Light” campaign to support God’s work that is being done in

the Diocese of Greensburg. Visit www.dioceseofgreensburg.org/BeTheLight.

Who are the Knights of Columbus? We are Catholic men

building a bridge back to Faith. Charity is at the heart of our work and our faith, and always has been. For the Knights of Columbus, charity means supporting a virtually boundless variety of projects. A little history of the Knights: Father Mi-

chael J. McGivney, the 29-year-old assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Conn., gathered a group of

men at his parish on October 2, 1881. He proposed establish-ing a lay organization to prevent Catholic men from entering secret societies antithetical to Church teaching, uniting Catho-lic men and helping families of deceased members. On June 14, 1954, Flag Day, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signs a law adding “under God” to the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance,

completing an effort Knights began three years earlier. If you are a Catholic male 18 or older you can join us and our mission by applying on-line at kofc.org/join, using the code

MCGIVNEY 2020 you can join for free until June 30th 2021. When signing up click on Council #1480 and when this is completed our Grand Knight Jeff Peterinelli will contact you

and get you to a degree (virtual or in person).

February 28, 2021, Second Sunday of Lent

Opening Hymn: Save Your People

(Refrain) Save your people, O Lord. Show us the way to come home. We have been wandering far from your love. Save your people, O Lord. One thing I ask, O Lord, this I seek: to dwell forever in your house, that I may gaze on your loveliness all the days of my life. (Refrain) Penitential Act (Recited)

I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my

most grievous fault, therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Responsorial Psalm: I will walk before the lord, in the land of the living. (Recited)

Gospel Acclamation (Sung): “praise to you Lord Jesus Christ, king of endless glory!”

Homily

Creed (Recited)

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things

were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was bur-ied, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,

who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the

resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful Response (recited): Lord, Hear our prayer

Communion Hymn: one love released

(Refrain) One bread, one body, one cup, one call, one faith, one Spirit present in us all. One prayer, one blessing, one hope, one peace, one church, one people, one love released. Is not this bread we share, the body of our Lord? Is not this wine we drink, the blood of Christ outpoured? (Refrain) Closing Prayer

CLOSING SONG: Lord, who throughout these forty days

Lord, who throughout these forty days, For us did fast and pray, Teach us with you to mourn our sins, And close by you to stay. As you with Satan did contend, And did the vict’ry win, O give us strength in you to fight, In you to conquer sin.
