St. Bruno Parish is a mul -cultural community, founded in 1912, that welcomes everyone to worship God, especially through the Holy Eucharist and Perpetual Adora on, to grow in the faith and to serve the less fortunate in order to be light and truth for others.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK Fr. Michael B. Brillantes Círculos concéntricos Los círculos concéntricos son círculos con diferentes diámetros, pero con el mismo centro. Imagina tres círculos concéntricos; el más pequeño y más cercano al centro representa la hostia sagrada, el Cuerpo de Cristo. Representa la unidad con Cristo. Cuando recibimos el Cuerpo de Cristo (Corpus Christi) en la Sagrada Comunión, estamos unidos con Él de una manera muy singular e íntima. Jesús dijo: "El que come mi cuerpo permanece en mí y yo en él". Debido a que es una unión entre lo divino y lo humano, prevalece lo divino. En esta unión, no cambiamos a Cristo. El nos cambia. Nos convertimos en lo que recibimos. ¿No es eso lo que cantamos? El círculo medio representa la comunidad con los de‐más. Cristo no solo nos une a Él, sino que nos une. La ver‐dadera comunión construye la comunidad. Así como mu‐chos granos forman el pan y muchas uvas forman el vino, nosotros, aunque muchos, nos convertimos en uno. Esto es lo que dijo San Pablo: "Aunque muchos, nos convertimos en un solo cuerpo". En el cristianismo primitivo, no tenían pequeños anfitriones, sino una barra de pan entera que se partía en pedazos. Como todos recibieron del mismo pan, se convirtieron en uno. Si la Sagrada Comunión limita nuestra relación con Cristo sin tener en cuenta a los demás ni a la comunidad, entonces hacemos un gran daño al Cuerpo de Cristo. Lo empobrecemos. La Eucaristía es tan poderosa, es como una radiografía. Nos irradia y más allá de nosotros a la comunidad. Por lo tanto, deberíamos construir comunidades eucarísticas, comunidades que tengan a la Eucaristía como centro. A través de la Eucaristía, estamos el uno con el otro y el uno para el otro. El círculo más grande y más externo representa el mundo y el llamado a santificarlo. La Eucaristía no solo es el fundamento y la expresión de nuestra comunidad, sino que nos llama hacia adelante y hacia adelante. Al concluir la misa, el sacerdote o el diácono dice: "Salgan, la misa ha terminado". No significa "ir a casa". No, es una orden de ir al mundo y darle vida, nutrirlo, cambiarlo, llevarle los valores del evangelio, cristificarlo. Y digo que es el amor, simbolizado por el Sagrado Corazón, que se encuentra en el centro de la Eucaristía. Es ese amor divino que emana del Sagrado Corazón que nos lleva a una unión con Cristo, que nos llama a construir una comunidad entre nosotros y que nos reta a servir y cuidar el mundo.

Concentric Circles

Concentric circles are circles with different diameters, but with the same center. Imagine three concentric circles; the smallest and closest to the center stands for the sacred host, the Body of Christ. It represents unity with Christ. When we receive the Body of Christ (Corpus Christi) in Holy Communion, we are united with Him in a very unique and intimate way. Jesus said, “He who eats my body remains in me and I, in him.” Because it’s a union between the divine and the human, the divine prevails. In this union, we don’t change Christ. He changes us. We become what we receive. Isn’t that what we sing? The middle circle represents community with others. Not only does Christ unite us to Himself, He brings us together. True communion builds up the community. Just as many grains make up the bread and many grapes make up the wine, we, though many, become one. This is what St. Paul said, ‘Though many, we become one body.” In early Christianity, they did not have small hosts but one whole loaf of bread that was broken into pieces. Since they all received from the same loaf, they became one. If Holy Communion limits our relationship to Christ with no regards for others or community, then we do a great disservice to the Body of Christ. We impoverish it. The Eucharist is so powerful, it’s like an x‐ray. It irradiates us and beyond us to the community. Thus, we should be building Eucharistic communities, communities that has the Eucharist as the center. Through the Eucharist, we are with one another and for one another. The largest and outermost circle represents the world and the call to sanctify it. Not only is the Eucharist the foundation and expression of our community, it calls us forward and onward. At the conclusion of the mass, the priest or deacon says, “Go forth, the Mass is ended.” It doesn’t mean “go home.” No, it’s an order to go to the world and give it life, to nourish it, to change it, to bring the gospel values to it, to Christy it. I’m writing this on a Wednesday, three days after the Feast of Corpus Christi, and two days before the Feast of the Sacred Heart. And I say that it is love, as symbolized by the Sacred Heart, which lies at the very center of the Eucharist. It is that divine love that emanates from the Sacred Heart that draws us to a union with Christ, which calls us to build community among ourselves and which challenges us to serve and care for the world.

And challenges still: humanist-reformer, yet champion of Catholic faith and papal primacy. John Paul II named him Patron of Statesmen and Politicians, citing More’s generous work, both as a lawyer and in government service, on behalf of the poorest and most marginalized people of his time, as well as his promotion of education for all sectors of society. More’s decision for principle over politics, conscience over convenience prompted his final words: “I die the king’s good servant, but God’s first.” Alone among England’s bishops, John Fisher dared challenge Henry VIII’s divorce and repudiation of the papacy. When the Pope named the imprisoned Fisher a cardinal, Henry thundered: “Don’t bother sending Fisher’s red hat here; I’ll send Fisher’s head to Rome!” Whose “good servants” are we first? Catechism Corner by Kacey Carey , DRE Following Jesus is costly. In the sermon on the mount, he made it clear that living with him meant walking a road less traveled. "Enter through the narrow gate for wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it. " Jesus promises to give anyone who will follow him abundant life, but he makes it clear from the beginning that to follow him is difficult and costly. He calls us to follow him on the road less traveled. We see the two roads clearly in society with one wide road paved with material goods, golden streets of pleasure, crystal curbs of sin and beautiful people enticing us to come their way. The narrow less traveled road is strewn with debris, making navigation difficult. There are obstacles , sufferings, temptations, and crosses one must pick up in order to travel through the road. The wide road starts off with happy people gleefully encouraging our participation, but further down, we see, the faces become darken, and evil intent surfaces. The narrow road starts with peaceful people resigned to carry their crosses, even singing joyfully as they go through. They know the closer they get to the finish line, the lighter the cross becomes and the sweeter the burden. They have fear of the Lord known as wonder and awe at His magnificence and their own promised reward of mercy. Wonder and awe empowers us to live out the Christian life in a heroic way. The wide road also has fear , but more in the form of fearing an enemy , fearing God's wrath with justice awaiting at the end. "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil for you are with me." Psalm 23: 4
