Parish News Feast of the Presenta on of the Lord
Luke 2:22-40 “Mary and Joseph took Jesus up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, just as it is wri en in the law of the Lord”
How was your Christmas? Did you get what you wanted? Was everybody happy with the gi s you gave them? Have you returned all of the presents you received that you did not want or that do not fit? Did you spend some me Jesus? Do you spend some me to reflect on and appreciate His role and im-portance in our lives? Do we understand that a constantly growing in mate rela onship with Jesus is a tremendous gi ? St. Luke tells us about Simeon, a righteous and devout man who awaited the consola-
on of Israel. Eight days a er the first Christmas, the Birth of Jesus, Joseph and Mary brought Him to the Temple to perform the custom of the law. Simeon realizes that the Lord had fulfilled His promise to let Simeon see Christ the Lord. When Simeon saw the child Jesus he knew he had received a tremen-dous gi . We have received the gi of awareness of who and what Jesus is in our lives. A constantly growing in mate rela onship with Jesus is the real gi of Christmas. It is a gi we should cherish and share with others every day of the year.

...What’s the process? Believe it or not, Jesus has made it somewhat clear to see how we form disciples. When we look at the Scriptures or the Church’s great documents on evangeliza on, as well as com-mon human experience, we will no ce five dimensions of spiritual matura on in Christ. They are: Connect, Encounter, Conversion, Grow, Mission.
How do we make a
disciple?...

“Lord, it is good that we are here.”
“My interest is in the future because I am going to spend the rest of my life there.” -Charles F. Ke ering
Ponder a moment this quote from an elementary student’s point of view. How seriously we must take our role in their future! We are here to touch that future, drama cally. We hope that you see
our school as an investment in the future.
