The School Family Education (SFE) journey started 10 years ago …
We wanted to make family life education
programmes and resources easily
accessible to parents,
students and staff in schools
i. Equip parents with the skills and knowledge to:
• Enrich and strengthen their family life; and
• Foster better parent-child understanding and relationship
ii. Equip students with:
• Life Skills;
• Skills to build healthy relationships with their peers and family; and
• Positive values and attitudes towards family, relationships and life in general

Education (SFE) programme in 4 schools:

.Role of MSF.
MSF offers funding and other support:
• Funding of $20,000 per year for FLE programmes and $12,000 per year for school coordinator honorarium fee
• FamilyMatters@School Programme Menu with a wide-array of FLE programmes to facilitate schools in programme planning and selection
• Recruitment, orientations, training etc. to support schools and other partners in programme implementation
• FLE resource materials

.Role of Schools and School Coordinators.
Schools appoint and work with appointed coordinator to:
● Conduct needs assessment to identify family life education (FLE) needs of their parents and students
● Design and develop a year-long FLE plan of at least 100 hours programmes
● Set up and manage family resource area
● Build a pool of trained parent facilitators who can conduct FLE programmes in the school;
● Implement FLE programmes (including coordination with service providers to ensure smooth programme delivery, publicity to engage parents etc.)
● Gather participant feedback and assess programme effectiveness
● Submit monthly programme evaluation and reimbursements to MSF

• Parent programmes, regardless in-house or from programme menu, should:
– equip parents with skills to enrich and strengthen their family life, and foster better parent-child understanding and relationship
– open to all parents in the schools
– a minimum attendance of 10 parents
• No clocking in of multiple sessions

Funding cannot be used for:
• Office & IT Equipments (such as computers/laptops, printers, cameras, memory cards, thumb drives, etc.)
• Prizes & door gifts
• Printing of collaterals (e.g. T-shirts, caps, etc.)
• Gift vouchers
• Venue rental or set up

.Staff Programmes.
It will be funded under:
Workplaces • For Families: 80-20 co-funding of family life education (FLE) programmes up to $600/hour (capped at 4hours /programme).
• For Singles: - Enrichment programmes: 80-20 co-funding up to
$600/hour (capped at 4 hours/ programme) - Social interaction opportunities: 80-20 co-funding up to
$50/pax (capped at $5,000/company/year)
• Applicable only for companies committing to fulfill 16 hours of FLE programmes /year: - Funding of $5,000 / year to cover the cost of engaging a
service provider to conduct needs assessment, plan and implement programmes.
Administration
• Briefing to service providers was held on 25 March
• Although the new funding quantum is effective from 1 April 2013, there will be a 2-month period for schools to adjust to the changes, which means:
– Programmes that have been agreed upon and scheduled with the schools for months of April and May 2013, they can still be implemented based on the old SFE guidelines.
– Schools can continue to submit April and May reimbursement through service providers.

• For programmes planned for June 2013 onwards, schools can conduct the programmes proposed and planned by the service providers, but the programmes:
– Must be submitted to MSF at least 30 days before the commencement of the programme, for MSF’s consideration to be included into the programme menu
– Abide by the new FamilyMatters@School guidelines

• Cover Letter for funding reimbursement has to be on school letterhead.
• While teachers-in-charge may certify reimbursement claims and supporting documents, we need Principals or Vice-Principals to endorse and sign on the cover letter.

What does Fathers@Schools offer?
$2,000 annual funding (for primary, secondary and SPED schools)* to run father-focused activities, including the following: – Father-child bonding activities
– Father-focussed workshops and training
Criteria – 50 fathers/16 hours for full funding (pri, sec, SPED)
– 15 fathers, minimum 2 hours for pre-schools
*Pre-schools receive $400 annual funding for the same.

will get families to bond and make family values stick, now’s the time
to let them ooze out.
National Family Council (NFC) is providing a grant of up to $10,000
or 70% of the total project cost (whichever is lower) for you to carry
out your family project idea.

Creativity and uniqueness
Who is Eligible?
Individuals or teams of individuals, who are:
