Preschool AquaticsLevel 1: Pike Ages 3-5 years - The first level of lessons is for beginning swimmers. Swimmers should be able to listen to instructions and follow directions. Swimmers will learn the basic paddle stroke on the front, back and sides. They will also be taught kicking skills and putting their face in the water.

Level 2: Eel Swimmers will learn to jump in without assistance, float on their front and back for 20 seconds with or without an IFD. Swimmers will also learn to paddle on front, back and side for 25 yards with an IFD and 15 feet without. Prerequisites: To enter this level, swimmers should be able to front and back float 20 seconds with an IFD. Swimmers should also paddle on their front, back and side for 10 yards with an IFD, and 5 feet without.

Level 3: Ray In this class swimmers will learn to front and back float 30 seconds without an IFD; front alternating paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without. Swimmers will also learn front symmetrical paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without; do a side alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; back alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; and back symmetrical paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without. Prerequisites: To enter this level, swimmers should be able to jump in without assistance, float on their front and back for 20 seconds with or without an IFD. Swimmers should also paddle on front, back and side for 25 yards with an IFD and 15 feet without.

Level 4: Starfish In this class swimmers will learn to do a standing dive; basic front crawl rotary breathing 25 yards; basic breaststroke 25 yards; backstroke 25 yards; elementary backstroke 25 yards; basic sidestroke 25 yards; and tread water 1 minute. Prerequisites: To enter this level, swimmers should be able to front and back float 30 seconds without an IFD; front alternating paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without. Swimmers also need to be able to front symmetrical paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without; do a side alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; back alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; and back symmetrical paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without.

Parent Child Kipper Shrimp/ Kipper/ Inia/ Perch This program is for children under age 3 and their parents (or a trusted adult). The primary objective is to get both the parent and child comfortable in the water. The child will become aware of the differences between moving through the water and on dry land, while the parent will become aware of how to teach his or her child to be safer in and around the water. Classes allow the child to have fun in the water, while the parent guides them to learn aquatic skills. Swim diapers must be worn with a bathing suit over. Shrimp: 6-8months / Kipper: 9-12months / Inia: 13-18months / Perch: 19-36months / Most times ages are combined but we may separate ages based on registration numbers.

Classes allow the child to have fun in the water, while the parent guides them to learn aquatic skills. Swim diapers must be worn with a bathing suit over. Child must be a member to get member rate. Swim lesson schedule available on-line or at front desk. One makeup lesson per session if space is available.

Youth AquaticsLevel 1: Polliwog - This is the beginning level for school age children and is appropriate for anyone new to the water or with little formal instruction. Children will learn the basic paddle stroke on their front, back and sides, kicking skills and will become comfortable putting their face in the water.

Level 2: Guppy - In this class swimmers will learn to front and back float 1-minute; front alternating paddle 25 yards with rhythmic breathing with and without an IFD; front symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back alternating paddle 25 yards; side alternating paddle 25 yards; and kneeling dive. Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to front and back float for 30 seconds with or without an IFD; paddle 25 yards on their front, back and side with an IFD, and 15 feet without an IFD; jump in without assistance; be comfortable in deep water.

Level 3: Minnow - In this class swimmers will learn to do a standing dive; basic front crawl rotary breathing 25 yards; basic breaststroke 25 yards; backstroke 25 yards; elementary backstroke 25 yards; basic sidestroke 25 yards; and tread water 1 minute. Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to front and back float 1-minute; front alternating paddle 25 yards with rhythmic breathing with and without an IFD; front symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back alternating paddle 25 yards; side alternating paddle 25 yards; and kneeling dive.

Level 4: Fish - In this class swimmers will learn to tread water for 3-minutes; swim 50 yards front crawl; swim 50 yards breaststroke with legal kick and arm pulls; swim 50 yards backstroke; swim 50 yards elementary backstroke with a glide; swim 50 yards sidestroke with a scissors kick; and swim 15 yards butterfly. Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to do a standing dive; basic front crawl rotary breathing 25 yards; basic breaststroke 25 yards; backstroke 25 yards; elementary backstroke 25 yards; basic sidestroke 25 yards; and tread water 1 minute.

Level 5: Flying Fish - In this class swimmers will learn to do a flip turn; swim 100 yards front crawl with bilateral breathing; swim 100 yards breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke; swim 100 yards elementary backstroke; swim 100 yards sidestroke alternating sides; swim 100 yards lifesaving sidestroke; and swim 15 yards butterfly. Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to tread water for 3-minutes; swim 50 yards front crawl; swim 50 yards breaststroke with legal kick and arm pulls; swim 50 yards backstroke; swim 50 yards elementary backstroke with a glide; swim 50 yards sidestroke with a scissors kick; and swim 15 yards butterfly.

Level 6: Shark -In this class swimmers will learn to take their own heart rate; learn about open water and backyard pool safety; swim 100 yards from crawl with flip turns; swim 100 yards breaststroke with pull-out; swim 50 yards inverted breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke with dolphin kick and pullout; swim 50 yards over arm side stroke; swim 25 yards butterfly with streamline; and swim 200 yards individual medley. Prerequisite: To enter this level, children should be able to do a flip turn; swim 100 yards front crawl with bilateral breathing; swim 100 yards breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke; swim 100 yards elementary backstroke; swim 100 yards sidestroke alternating sides; swim 100 yards lifesaving sidestroke; and swim 15 yards butterfly.

Adult AquaticsAdult Beginner 1, 2 & Intermediate This is for individuals age 16+ who have either not had formal swim lessons, are not comfortable in the water or know very little swimming technique. The class will focus on water adjustment and the basic fundamentals of breathing, kicking, floating and timing. This class is for those who might hold some fear and have trouble getting feet off the ground. (Family Pool)

Prenatal/Post Partum Water Fit Prenatal/ Postpartum Aqua Exercise This class is for prenatal and postpartum moms. It will help you tone, strengthen, increase flexibility, boost your energy and aid in delivery as well as postpartum recovery. Exercise right up to delivery and return as soon as possible after. Moms with infants are welcome to bring the baby to the pool during class. No swimming skills are needed. (Warm Water Pool)

ARC Lifeguard Recertification Participants must be currently certified or have successfully completed an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course within the last two years. Once certifications have expired, a full course must be taken again. Participants must also be able to pass the lifeguard prerequisites again.

Lifeguard There is a $50.00 non-refundable deposit on all lifeguard programs once you have signed up. All Participants must be able to swim 300 continuous yards of front crawl and breaststroke. Participants must also be able to swim to a depth of 7-10 feet and retrieve a 10 lb brick then swim with it kicking on their backs 20 yards. Lastly, participants must be able to tread water for 2 min without using hands. Failure to pass the pre-requisite class means you will be refunded minus the $50.00 deposit or credited the full amount towards another future class. Failure to pass the class will result in no refund. Once participants pass they will be certified in American Red Cross CPR, First Aid and Life guarding for 2 years.

Lunch And Fun Is your child ready for a longer preschool day but not quite ready for an enrichment class? Here’s your solution. Lunch & Fun is a program designed for those students currently in our preschool program that need/want an extended day but aren’t quite old enough for an enrichment class. This program includes lunch, time in our F.A.C., gym or playground, special activities (science, art, reading, math) and time to socialize.

Lunch Bunch Learn the proper etiquette of eating at a table; including manners and cleaning up after one’s self. When your child finishes lunch they may choose a center to rotate through. Choose a day that works for you or choose a day that coincides with their favorite enrichment class. Our staff will transfer your child to their enrichment class at no extra cost! Please alert staff to any food allergies or restrictions. This class is for currently enrolled preschool students only who will be transferred from their preschool classroom to the Lunch Bunch room.

Stepping Stones (Ages 2-3) This class is designed for that student who is new to Preschool. Your child will rotate through educational centers such as math, literacy, science, and art. This class meets two days per week.

Toddler Tumbles (Age 2.5-3.5 years) Your child will rotate through an obstacle course, play structured games with puppets and parachutes, sing songs, and develop both fine and gross motor skills.

Tot Time Through sing-a-longs with puppets, group games, parachutes, and time to play on the equipment your child will continue to develop their gross motor skills which are vital for physical development.

Travel Around the World Join us as we explore the world around us! We’ll travel to far off destinations, explore traditional customs, sample foreign cuisines, and make it back in time for pick up.

Beginning Spanish Here’s an exciting enrichment program where your child will learn the Spanish language through fun, exciting and engaging activities! Your child will be fully immersed in a Spanish language room and will learn through games, oral language development, listening skills through read-alouds, and arts and crafts.

Kindergarten Counts Children attending Kindergarten at District 15 schools including Hunting Ridge, Jane Addams, Lake Louise, Lincoln, Marion Jordan, Paddock, Pleasant Hill, Sanborn, Thomas Jefferson, Virginia Lake, Whitely, and Winston Campus can extend their school day to include the Kindergarten Counts Program at Buehler YMCA which provides educational and enrichment activities. Kindergarten Counts is a DCFS-licensed program taught by early childhood educators with a curriculum based on Illinois Common Core Learning Standards and includes Jolly Phonics and Guided Reading. Our program also includes weekly work which focuses on number and letter recognition and writing as well as simple math. Students participate in educational, physical, and social enrichment activities like music, CATCH, and swimming. Field trips and class parties are scheduled throughout the school year. AM Kindergarten Counts begins at 8am and students are transported from the YMCA to PM Kindergarten at participating District 15 schools. Care can be provided as early as 6:45am through enrollment in our Link Before School Care program. Additionally, students can be transported back to the YMCA for Link After School Care until 6pm. Preschool Full Day Buehler YMCA is proud to offer a new year-round play-based Full Day Preschool Program that provides care and education from 7am to 6pm Monday-Friday. Our Preschool Programs encourage children to explore their environment as they develop creativity, problem-solving, and skills related to cognitive, physical, and social/emotional growth. Students are introduced to literacy through a phonemic approach that includes the Jolly Phonics curriculum as well as math, science, and social studies concepts taught through hands-on activities. Additionally, children in our Full Day Preschool Program participate in special activities including music, games and fitness activities in the gym, and swim lessons taught by instructors in our Aquatics Department each week. Trained early childhood educators undergo continual professional development to ensure best practices are being used in the classroom. Teachers utilize the centers method of small-group instruction, and the curriculum is based on the Illinois Early Learning Standards. Our Preschool Programs are also licensed by DCFS. To be eligible for Full Day Preschool, students must be between 3 and 5 years old and potty trained. Children may enroll at any time assuming there are openings available. Please alert staff to any food allergies or restrictions. Minimum/Maximum: 5/15 Currently enrolled preschool participants will be transferred from their preschool classroom to the Lunch Bunch room. Currently enrolled preschool participants may choose days to sign up for lunch bunch at the cost of $3.00 per day. If you choose to sign up for a particular day please do so 24 hours in advance.

Mighty Math Come and explore the fundamentals of math! Children will understand the meanings, uses and representations of numbers as well as systems and processes of measurement. Through exciting hands-on activities, your child will be ready for kindergarten or will enhance their kindergarten knowledge of math. Minimum/Maximum: 5/10 (Downstairs Craft Room)

Music Makers Does your little one love to wiggle and move whenever music comes on? Do they love to play with musical instruments but the noise drives you insane? We have the perfect class! Your little one will be dancing, singing, and creating their own musical sound. Parents are welcome to stay but it’s not necessary. If a child is not fully potty trained, a parent/guardian must remain on call in the building. Minimum/Maximum: 5/10 (Downstairs Mat Room)

Once Upon A Story Join us as we bring two classic stories and bring them to life through dramatic play! Children will create costumes and scenery from the story, they’ll memorize lines, and put on a short play at the end of the session. This is one performance you won’t want to miss!

Pee Wee Energy Plus It’s gym time! A great introduction to the basics: getting ina circle, lining up, following the leader and taking turns. Class includes circle time,age-appropriate games and activities, and the use of basic equipment.

Prelude To Preschool (Age 2-3 1/2) Here’s a break for Mom or Dad and a chance for their child to be in a stimulating and developmental atmosphere. This mini-preschool class will include circle time, projects and activities, music, snack and many opportunities for socialization. Puppets and interactive stories will be presented to help children learn to express themselves using words. Parents will provide snack once each session.

Preschool Day Out (Age 3-5) Our 1/2 day preschool day out includes structured classroom based activities complete with a circle time, games, crafts, and the use of our facility. Please bring a sack lunch and beverage in an unbreakable container.

Preschool Spanish (Age 3-5) The best time to learn a second language is as a child. Your child will learn the Spanish language through fun, exciting and engaging activities! Your child will be fully immersed in a Spanish language room and will learn through real-life situation games, music, building vocabulary, and developing listening skills through read-alouds, and arts and crafts. Minimum/Maximum: 5/10. (Downstairs Craft Room)

Ready To Read (Age 3-5) This class will help students to recognize letters by sight and sound. Students will learn to recognize letters through crafts and hands-on activities. They will learn the sound of the a letter through the Jolly Phonics curriculum and will learn to read common sight words. Minimum/Maximum: 5/8 (Downstairs Craft Room)

Rhythm And Movement (Age 18mos-2 1/2years) Get your wiggles out in our rhythm and movement class! We’ll make music, sing songs, dance, and get our bodies grooving to the beat. Beginning Piano/Keyboarding (Age 4-5) Come learn the basics of piano/keyboarding with Ms. Natalie. Each class has a low number of students to allow for maximum retention. Your child will learn to read musical notes and play simple songs. Registration is limited to 2 students per class so register early!

Messy Creations Here is a chance for your child to get messy and discover the world of art. Your young artist will rotate through a variety of art stations and may bring home several works of art per day. Class will focus on the experience and emphasis on the process rather than the finished product. Smocks will be provided but please dress appropriately as we may get messy.

Mommy And Me 2 (Age 12-18mos) This parent-and-tot program uses the creative movement and exploration concepts to involve you and your child in new learning experiences. Class includes group time with songs and movement, musical instruments, bubbles, a guided introduction to new motor activities for your child, and plenty of time to socialize.

Preschool Dance and GymnasticsDance Li’l Movers Have fun learning the basics of dance with pre-ballet. In this Creative Dance based class, we will work on rhythms, coordination, flexibility, self-expression and confidence. It also teaches listening skills and dance class etiquette.

Gym And Swim This unique program will give a sample of a gymnastics class and a swim class all in 1 hour. Gymnastics begins at 2pm and children MUST wear their swim wear to gymnastics class. The instructors are not allowed to change their clothes. The gymnastics staff will take them to the pool and parents will pick up after swim at 3pm. Participants must sign up for both gym and swim.

Gymnastics Advanced Tiny Tykes (Age 4) For the girl who is more advanced in skill, strength, flexibility and social skills. Must have taken a minimum of four sessions of Tiny Tykes.

Gymnastics Parent/Child An introductory class to develop strength, flexibility, coordination and body awareness while learning gross motor skills for gymnastics. All equipment is introduced. Parents or caregivers are required to participate with their children.

Gymnastics Tiny Tykes (Age 3-4) An introductory class for preschool-age children ready to attend class without a parent or caregiver. Children will develop coordination, body awareness and gross motor skills while working on listening skills, following directions and social skills. Children will use all gymnastics equipment. Curriculum is progressive with a different gymnastics position and concentration each week.

Gymnastics Tyke Fit Introduce your child to exercise and a healthy lifestyle early with this gymnastics based program. We will teach how to exercise your heart, how to strengthen and stretch your muscles, and basic good nutrition.

Gymnastics Young Beginner (Age 5-6) Children will learn all gymnastics events in levels 1 and/or 2, in a group of their peers.

Gymnastics All Boys Our boys gymnastics program focuses on strength development, body positions,and gymnastics skills on all of the boys apparatus. We also work on listening skills and socialization within the group setting. Boys will be divided by age and skill level.

Youth Arts, Childcare and FamilyKids In The Kitchen (Age 6-10) Try on your chef’s hat in this fun kids’ cooking class. Each week we will make 3 items that revolve around a theme. Your child will learn to cook fun and nutritious snacks that even the pickiest eater will love! We will learn about good food choices, healthy living, and how food fuels our bodies. Spanish Here’s an exciting enrichment program where your child will learn the Spanish language through fun, exciting and engaging activities! Your child will be fully immersed in a Spanish language room and will learn through games, oral language development, listening skills through read-alouds, and arts and crafts.

After School Care Buehler YMCA operates an in-house, DCFS-licensed after-school care program throughout the school year. Students are transported from school to the YMCA and provided care until 6pm. A snack is provided daily. Activities offered during our Link After School Care Program include homework support, character development, games and fitness activities, arts and crafts, swimming, and much more. Additionally, staff will transfer children to and from other YMCA programs that operate during Link Program times. Kindergarten Counts Children attending Kindergarten at District 15 schools including Hunting Ridge, Jane Addams, Lake Louise, Lincoln, Marion Jordan, Paddock, Pleasant Hill, Sanborn, Thomas Jefferson, Virginia Lake, Whitely, and Winston Campus can extend their school day to include the Kindergarten Counts program at Buehler YMCA which provides educational and enrichment activities. Kindergarten Counts is a DCFS-licensed program taught by early childhood educators with a curriculum based on Illinois Common Core Learning Standards and includes Jolly Phonics and Guided Reading. Our program also includes weekly work which focuses on number and letter recognition and writing as well as simple math. Students participate in educational, physical, and social enrichment activities like music, CATCH, and swimming. Field trips and class parties are scheduled throughout the school year. Students in AM Kindergarten at participating District 15 schools are transported to the YMCA to attend the Kindergarten Counts program until 4pm. Care can be extended to 6pm through enrollment in our Kindergarten Link After School Care program. Mighty Math Come and explore the fundamentals of math! Children will understand the meanings, uses and representations of numbers as well as systems and processes of measurement. Through exciting hands-on activities, your child will be ready for kindergarten or will enhance their kindergarten knowledge of math. Minimum/Maximum: 5/10 (Downstairs Craft Room)

Once Upon A Story Join us as we bring two classic stories and bring them to life through dramatic play! Children will create costumes and scenery from the story, they’ll memorize lines, and put on a short play at the end of the session. This is one performance you won’t want to miss!

Preschool Spanish (Age 3-5) The best time to learn a second language is as a child. Your child will learn the Spanish language through fun, exciting and engaging activities! Science Discovery Your child loves to discover because kids are natural-born scientists. Let’s build the curiosity for the world they live in with this experimentation class. Children will use all their senses to learn in this hands-on class.

Where In The World Join us as we explore the world around us! We’ll travel to far off destinations, explore traditional customs, sample foreign cuisines, and make it back in time for pick up.

Messy Creations Here is a chance for your child to get messy and discover the world of art. Your young artist will rotate through a variety of art stations and may bring home several works of art per day. Class will focus on the experience and emphasis on the process rather than the finished product. Smocks will be provided but please dress appropriately as we may get messy.

Youth Dance and GymnasticsDance Ballet Ballet is the foundation for jazz, modern and lyrical dance and allows students to develop poise, posture, strength, flexibility and expressivity. Contrary to common thought, it is not always a “slow” paced class as it utilizes a variety of musical tempos for it’s beautiful turns, jumps and balances. Students should wear a leotard and tights and have pink ballet shoes.

Dance Jazz Jazz dance is a highly expressive form of dance that nurtures individuality while developing style and flair! This energetic class starts off with an energetic warm up and moves to progressions of footwork and turns across the floor as well as various types of jumps and leaps. Class ends with a short center combination that will help to solidify the lessons of the day. Students should wear a leotard and tights or leggings and have blackjazz shoes.

Dance Jazz Funk Jazz funk is a blend of multiple dance genres such as hip hop, ballet and lyrical wrapped into a funky style that is both fun and expressive! Traditional Jazz and hip hop skills are incorporated into skill combinations for both smooth and sharp and movement qualities!! Jazz Funk is a dance style of the body and mind. It can also be lyrical in the sense of emotional interpretation. Jazz Funk tells a story with your body.

Gymnastics Advanced (Age 8-16) Must be able to pass a level 3 evaluation and/or have permission from the director.

Gymnastics All Boys Our boys gymnastics program focuses on strength development, body positions,and gymnastics skills on all of the boys apparatus. We also work on listening skills and socialization within the group setting. Boys will be divided by age and skill level.

Gymnastics Level 1 (Age 6-16) Little or no experience in gymnastics. Girls will learn body positions,handstands, cartwheels, forward and backward rolls, and basics on the apparatus.

Gymnastics Level 2 (Age 6-16) Should have had some instruction in gymnastics and be able to pass a Level 1 evaluation. Start learning backbends,kickovers, pullovers on bars, and basic vault and beam skills.

Gymnastics Level 3 (Age 6-16) Must be able to pass Level 2 evaluation. Girls will begin learning walkovers,handsprings, skills on the high bar, more advanced vault skills and start taking their floor skills to the beam.

Cheer Tumbling This class is for the cheerleader who wants to learn intermediate to advanced tumbling skills. Participants must have a minimum of intermediate skill level to participate.

Gymnastics Young Beginner (Age 5-6) Children will learn all gymnastics events in levels 1 and/or 2, in a group of their peers.

Youth Special EventsKids Day Out Here’s a solution to those school holidays, teacher institute days, and other student non-attendance days. Our Kids’ Day Out Program, designed for children in grades K-6, offers a full day of entertainment including field trips, games, arts and crafts, and activities in areas of our YMCA facility like our pool, gym, and Family Adventure Center. Care is provided from 7am to 6pm. Remember to bring a lunch, drink or water bottle, snack each day, swimming suit, and towel each day. Visit our Member Services Desk for more detailed daily information two weeks prior to a scheduled Kids’ Day Out program date. All Kids’ Day Out participants must pre-register and have a current emergency form including parent contact information and pertinent medical information and listing individuals approved for pick-up on file before they will be permitted entrance into the program. Children do not have to be members of the YMCA nor participants in the Link Program to attend.

Parents Night Out Send your child to the Y, while you have a night out!

Teen Night Bring your friends to the Buehler YMCA and join the FUN! During Teen Night we have open swimming from 7:30-9:30 p.m., music, open gym for basketball and other sports, and activities in the Family Adventure Center. You can enjoy the gymnastics gym for a 20 minutes time period. Parents must come in at the end of the night to sign child out before leaving.

Youth SportsBasketball Boot Camp This class will get players in shape while working on the fundamentals of basketball. Athletes will need to come ready to run and condition while learning the passing, shooting and dribbling skills of basketball.

Basketball Fundamentals Participants will work on passing, shooting and dribbling. Emphasis is on skill development, games and fun.

Floor Hockey Participants will work on stick handling, passing, shooting, and of course play games!

Kinder Fall Basketball League This league is instructional and designed to teach the basics of Basketball. Teamwork and fun are emphasized. Parents are needed as volunteer coaches ... don’t worry, we will train you! Practices will be held during the week for one hour between 5-8pm. Games will be played on Saturday. Please note teams are assembled by participant or coach request or by random selection. We don’t do a draft or evaluation! If you have any special request please write them on the registration form.

Little Tigers Beginner. This is similar to “Tiny Tigers.” These classes are for beginners, White to Yellow belts only. No exceptions!

Rock Wall Ascenders Climb This course is set up for wall crawlers just starting out and striving to get their climbing career in motion. We will provide the complete machinery and initiative to ensure that the students will have a positive and astonishing experience. The basic necessities of climbing - commands, technique, and confidence - are the bedrock of this class.

Soccer Kickers Hey guys and gals! Come out and work on those skills. We stress ball control, defense, fun, and of course, we’ll be playing games! Class will meet outdoors for most of Fall 1 and inside for Fall 2.

Tigers Taekwondo Beginner. Martial arts is great fun for kids ... and a great way to give kids a head start on life. W. Kim Taekwondo masters and instructors will teach the positive benefits of self-discipline and confidence, develop coordination and increase strength and flexibility. These classes are for beginners, White to Yellow belts only.

Youth Aikido Self Defense Aikido is a Japanese martial art that is an effective form of self-defense for students of all ages and fitness levels. You will learn how to avoid conflicts and defend yourself against a variety of attacks such as grabs, punches, kicks and chokes. Aikido technique practice also improves balance, coordination and flexibility. This class meets in the gymnastics gym.

Basketball Stars Of Tomorrow This basketball class will be sure to improve your child’s shooting, passing, dribbling and teamwork skills before the end of the session! 3-4 year olds will shoot at a seven foot basket. 5-7 year olds will shoot at an eight-foot basket.

Preschool P.E Expose your child to many different types of sports. A new sport will be introduced every class and may include floor hockey, T-Ball, kickball, basketball and soccer.

Rock Monkeys A marvelous class for kids that are inquisitive about the world of climbing. The cornerstone for an extended and riveting climbing career will be anchored as a result of this class. Kids will learn to climb, build confidence and increase self-esteem.

Stinger Soccer Learn the basics of soccer. Y-rookies philosophy is stressed ... everyone plays, everyone is a winner!

Youth Racquetball Learn and practice the basics of racquetball in a group environment. Racquet and safety goggles required. Maximum 8.

Teen Health and WellnessBorn To Move In this 30 or 45 minute Les Mills class geared toward 8-12 year olds, teachers show participants how to do moves from dance, martial arts and yoga. It includes great music and games to keep things interesting while developing fitness skills. The instructor will adapt their approach to match participant mood and energy levels so everyone leaves class feeling great.

Indoor Cycle Indoor stationary bike class set to music. The instructor will lead you through a series of drills for a great cardio workout.

Off And Running Off and Running class that focuses on running drill and strength conditioning.

Speed And Conditioning Ages 10-16. Learn speed training drills, which include agility, plyometrics,endurance,flexibility and core exercises.

Special EventsTeen Day Out Teen Day Out Camp offers Teens and Pre-Teens ages 10-14 years old a fun activity during the days off school. Buehler YMCA has Before Care 7-9 a.m. and After Care 4-6 p.m. (Located in the Teen Zone). Each day we will spend some time doing active games at the Y. Bring a lunch everyday.

Teen Night Bring your friends to the Buehler YMCA and join the FUN! During Teen Night we have open swimming from 7:30-9:30 p.m., music, open gym for basketball and other sports, and activities in the Family Adventure Center. You can enjoy the gymnastics gym for a 20 minute time period. Parents must come in at the end of the night to sign child out before leaving.

Adult Dance DescriptionAdult Modern Jazz Jazz dance is a highly expressive form of dance that nurtures individuality while developing style and flair! This energetic class starts off with an energetic warm up and moves to progressions of footwork and turns across the floor as well as various types of jumps and leaps. Class end with a short center combination that will help to solidify the lessons of the day. Students should wear a leotard and tights or leggins and have black jazz shoes.

GRIT Strength Les Mills GRIT is a high intensity interval training program combining plyometrics, strength and cardio formats in a condensed workout that yields phenomenal results.

INTRODUCTION TO TRX SUSPENSION Experience the excitement and results of total body suspension training. In this beginner program you will learn the basic movements, form, technique and sequences. This class is 30 minutes in length. Teens 12-17 may enroll with a parent.

KettleWorx Series KettleWorx is a high intensity total body workout. The formats vary from cardio to strength to core. Each workout is 30 minutes of body reshaping and strength improvement.

Reformer The Pilates Reformer is the most versatile and fun piece of equipment in the Pilates equipment repertoire. These group training sessions are for everyone, from the beginning non-exerciser to the advanced athlete and all those in between. Sorry! Adults only! Reformer 2 is an intermediate reformer class and needs instructor permission to sign up. Advanced reformer is for advanced students and is invitation only. Tai Chi Easy, gentle movements to enhance physical, mental and spiritual health. All adult ages and fitness levels.

Y Cardio Sculpt Low-impact cardio, resistance, flexibility and balance work for the “young at heart.”

Y Cardio Sculpt 2 A high-energy hour-long cardio and toning class offered 4 days a week. Each M/W/F class offers 30 minutes of cardio via choreographed high-impact aerobic-dance routines, which can be modified using low-impact moves demonstrated by the instructor. Cardio is followed by a half hour of freestyle core work and toning using handheld weights/tubing, and ending with stretches for all muscle groups worked. Recommended for advanced beginners and intermediate fitness levels.

Aikido Self Defense Aikido is a Japanese martial art that is an effective form of self-defense for students of all ages and fitness levels. You will learn how to avoid conflicts and defend yourself against a variety of attacks such as grabs, punches, kicks and chokes. Aikido technique practice also improves balance, coordination and flexibility. This class meets in the gymnastics gym.
