Trail- ing 17-3 with 14:30 remaining, Quinnipiac rattled off a 28-4 run but still needed some late-game magic via a go-ahead Adily Martucci jumper and Morgan Manz runner to put the Bobcats up by three with 21 seconds left. Quinnipiac's 17-point comeback victory sets a new program Division I (since 1998-99) record for the largest deficit overcome for a win. The margin was one point better than a 16-point deficit overcome in a 68-61 overtime win over Robert Morris back on Feb. 19, 2000. Quinnipiac avenged a pair of defeats in the two previous seasons last Friday as the Bobcats defeated perennial mid-major power Florida Gulf Coast, 66-56, at home. In a matchup between two ranked squads in the College Insider Mid-Major Poll, No. 13 Quinnipiac put on a defensive clinic in holding No. 7 FGCU to 20-for-61 overall and just 12 percent (3-25 3FG) from three. • Between the Bobcats' first two opponents, Quinnipiac defeated a pair of teams in Florida Gulf Coast (66-56) and Dayton (63-60) that have combined for 453 wins (FGCU: 246-52; Dayton: 207-82), 50.3 wins per season (FGCU: 27.3; Dayton: 23) 77.1 winning percentage, 10 conference titles and five NCAA Tourna- ment victories in the last nine seasons (since 2007-08). Aryn McClure was named the MAAC's Player of the Week on Monday as she led the Bobcats to a pair of impressive victories while averaging 13 points, 8.5 rebounds, three assists and 3.5 blocks in 27.5 minutes. McClure's first career Player of the Week honor comes on the heels of a 2015-16 season that saw her win a MAAC-leading four Rookie of the Week awards on her way to the 2015-16 MAAC Rookie of the Year. Quinnipiac continues to thrive at closing out games as the Bobcats finished 19-0 last season when lead- ing at halftime. Dating back to the start of 2014-15, the Bobcats are a staggering 43-0 in games in which they lead at the half (24-0 in 2014-15).
