University links with global leader in Business Process Management Training To help organizations stay relevant and resilient in the age
of digitization, De La Salle University entered into partnership
with the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane,
Australia to establish the globally renowned Business Process
Management (BPM) Training in the Philippines.
The launch of the BPM Training last March 13 at the Asian
Institute of Management Conference Center featured a talk by
Professor Michael Rosemann, Head of School of Information
Systems of QUT. His talk was entitled, “A Digital Mind -
Disruptive Thinking in a Connected World.”
QUT’s Business Process Management Discipline is one of the
largest BPM research groups in the world. Rosemann helped
establish three industry-funded Chairs in the Information
Systems School, i.e. the Woolworths Chair in Retail Innovation,
the Brisbane Airport Corporation Chair in Airport Innovation, and
the PwC Chair in Digital Economy.
Rosemann’s main contributions are the concepts of a series
of innovation patterns, value-driven BPM, customer process
management, BPM as a service, a BPM maturity model,
guidelines of business process modelling, configurable reference
models, ambidextrous BPM and context-aware BPM.
To align itself with the academic communities in the region,
De La Salle University takes part in the ASEAN International Mobility
for Students (AIMS) Programme starting August this year.
The AIMS Programme seeks to create a dynamic student mobility
program for Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization
member countries. Initiated in 2009 as the Malaysia, Indonesia,
and Thailand (M-I-T) Student Mobility Project, other countries from
Southeast Asia have joined the efforts of M-I-T to collectively develop
a regional student mobility program.
Japan has also joined the AIMS Programme. In the Philippines, there
are 12 partner universities participating in the said program.
Starting next academic year, DLSU AIMS Programme will offer
courses from the RVR College of Business, Gokongwei College
of Engineering, and the School of Economics. Foreign students may
choose up to eight courses equivalent to 24 units, upon approval of
the AIMS Coordinator and Dean of the college or school.
DLSU students, on the other hand, may study in 27 partner
universities in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei
Darussalam, and Japan in the following fields: International Business,
Economics, and Engineering.

De La Salle University holds this year’s “No Impact Experiment,”
a weeklong carbon cleanse program aimed at reducing the
community’s impact to the environment through awareness and
performing simple acts, from March 23 to 29.
Program organizers include the Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing
Center, the Campus Sustainability Office, the College of Liberal Arts
Research and Advanced Studies Office, and the Office of the Vice
Chancellor for Research and Innovation, in partnership with the Asian
Development Bank’s Redraw the Line project.
During the course of the week, participants are tasked with specific
themes and sustainability challenges such as going paperless,
eating healthy, or taking public transport instead of driving a personal
vehicle.
Other complementary activities include: the Kapwa Kalikasan: Nature
as Person and Fellow Being Round-table Discussion, the TRIPDA
Car Pooling Orientation, the Conversations and Confrontations
Conference with Dr. Ann Pegelow Kaplan, the 3rd DLSU Innovation
and Technology Fair, Nature in Print book exhibit, Training for

Workshop with Osaka University highlights latest computational techniques
DITECH 2015 promotes eco-innovation
The Computational Materials Design (CMD) Asia Philippines, an
organization composed of faculty members and students from
De La Salle University and collaborators from Osaka University in
Japan, hosted the 7th Asian CMD Workshop held last March 19-
21 at the Milagros del Rosario Building of the DLSU Science and
Technology Complex in Laguna.
With the theme, “Strengthening the Nanotechnology Research
in the Philippines through Computational Techniques,” the
workshop featured lectures by professors from the two universities,
particularly on various computational software to study phenomena
occurring in materials in nano- and atomic scale levels, aimed at
elucidating their physical, electronic, chemical, mechanical, and
deteriorative properties.
The results are applied in wider applications, such as fuel cells,
spintronics, bio-sensors, solar cells, and recently in medical
sciences.
CMD Asia Philippines conducts researches that implement
Computational Materials Design in order to predict and elucidate
the properties and behavior of materials by theoretical modeling or
computer simulation from a fundamental perspective.
The group is part of the CMD® Asia Network whose member
institutions include Osaka University (Japan), DLSU (Philippines),
Mahidol University (Thailand), Hanoi University of Science (Vietnam),
and Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia).
With the theme “Green Innovations for a Sustainable Future,” the 3rd
DLSU Innovation and Technology (DITECH) Fair aims to support the
country’s sustainable development goals through research.
The DITECH Fair this March 26-27 at the DLSU Henry Sy, Sr. Hall
addresses ten main goals: contribute to finding solutions to end
extreme poverty; achieve economic development; ensure effective
learning that will generate work and livelihood; achieve gender
equality, social inclusion, and human rights for all; achieve health
and wellbeing; improve agricultural systems; empower cities; curb
In its continuing efforts to better serve the Lasallian community,
the Libraries announced that a self-checkout machine is now

their DLSU ID.
To use the self-checkout machine, the borrower simply taps the
“Borrow Items” button indicated on the machine, then scans the
ID or keys in ID number. After this, he/she scans the barcode of
the book, located at the inside back cover of the material, then
taps “Finish.” The borrower receives a transaction receipt.
Consistent with over-the-counter service, books and other library
materials classified as “Room Use Only”, “Lib Use Only”, and “On
Hold”, cannot be checked out for home reading.
