THIS VERY DAY!

p.10

An EHC worker in Uganda takes time to answer the questions of two inquisitive youth.

very Home for Christ’s global workers have such passion for the lost that — in addition to our ongoing systematic, home-to-home method of

evangelism — they prayerfully plan special outreaches to coincide with local school breaks, vacations and national holidays throughout each year. These seasonal events impact multitudes of people who may have never heard the name of Jesus.

Currently, our annual Easter Outreaches are underway across the globe. During these outreaches, with the help of additional volunteers and local church partners, hundreds of EHC teams are proclaiming the message of the Gospel to thousands who need the hope of salvation.

On the pages that follow, we bring you exciting stories from previous Easter Outreaches in Chile (p. 4), Sierra Leone (p. 8) and Armenia (p. 10). These are just a small sample of what has happened. Last year, across the 67 countries where Easter Outreaches took place, 287,169 people responded to the Gospel. Praise God!

Thank you for helping make these incredible seasonal events possible. It’s your prayers and faithful giving that enable our dedicated global workers to impact entire nations with the Gospel. Please keep our amazing men and women in your prayers. You make what they do possible!

t had been an 800-mile journey on bone-jarring roads, and Victor Stuardo and his wife, Marcela, were feeling it. Along the way, Every Home for

Christ Chile’s National Director had stopped in five different cities to train local church members for the upcoming Easter Outreach. His goal for the nine-day event was ambitious: to reach 115,000 households by delivering gospel literature home to home.

Victor’s adrenaline had peaked over the fast-paced couple of months, but the former professional soccer player had counted the cost when he laid down his jersey and took up the cross. Radically changed when he met Jesus, Victor left his celebrity lifestyle in 1985 and dedicated his life to preaching the Gospel throughout his beloved nation. Since that time, he’s traveled thousands of miles, reaching fellow athletes

for Jesus and leading the ministry of Every Home for Christ in Chile.

God blessed the efforts of Every Home for Christ Chile, and the 2015 Easter Outreach was a huge success. But even star athletes get tired, and Victor and Marcela were exhausted by the end. So instead of going directly home, they decided to stay in Chile’s northern desert region for one more day to rest before starting the long journey back home. To their surprise, they were amazingly refreshed when they awoke the next morning. With no reason to stay, they decided to get in their car and start driving.

They hadn’t gone far when something unusual happened — it started to rain. Victor and Marcela rejoiced because the ground in the dry north was hard as stone. But when they reached the city of La Serena

nine hours later, the Stuardos learned of an impending disaster. Because the ground was so dry, it couldn’t absorb the rain fast enough, causing rivers of raging water to sweep away everything in their paths. Hearing this news, Victor and Marcela immediately thanked God for prompting them to leave when they did.

When they finally made it home and turned on the television, the reality of what had happened began to sink in. The magnitude of the storm was greater than most had imagined. Seeing images of houses, animals and cars — even people — being swept away by the raging water was almost more than they could handle.

Victor and Marcela knew that it was only by the grace of God that their lives had been spared and thanked Him for the opportunity to reach more

souls for Christ. Victor’s congregation brought in donations of food, water and clothing for the flood victims. Then Every Home for Christ Chile, in partnership with Christian Center for the Nations, rushed to deliver large amounts of supplies donated from all over Chile.

Returning to the area, the EHC team began to hear tragic stories from local pastors and others who had lost everything they had. One was Hilda Perez Espinoza, a new believer who had met Christ through another EHC outreach a couple of months earlier.

After becoming a Christian, Hilda opened her home of 47 years to be a place where she and others could enjoy fellowship and biblical discipleship. When Victor learned that the flood had destroyed her home and everything in it, his church took up an offering and raised enough money to help rebuild it. Since then, Hilda and her husband have moved into their new home and have dedicated it to the Lord as a place of ministry to their neighbors and other new believers.

Another example is José Pino, a husband and father of three children, who was at work the day it started to rain. When his boss sent everyone

home to check on their families, José wasn’t too concerned. Everyone was happy because it hadn’t rained in so long, and José didn’t complain about getting off work early. But the joy of a shortened workday turned into panic as José neared his home. Never in his wildest dreams could he have imagined what he found when he got there.

“The streets had turned to mud that was growing deeper by the minute, making it difficult to walk,” he recalls. “Everything was covered in mud — cars, animals, everything. By the time I got home, the water had entered the house and done some damage. A couple of hours later, while we were in the house, an entire wall collapsed.”

José managed to get his wife and children out safely and took them to a shelter. When he returned to his house, he found it completely destroyed. “We cried nonstop,” he said, “because after many years of hard work, we lost everything.” The next day, some young men came to the shelter with food, clothing and the best news José had ever heard — the Gospel. That day, a broken José received Christ as his Savior. Though the disaster cost him everything, he thanks God for using it to bring him to Christ.

4Our workers delivered stores of food and supplies along with the message of God’s love and salvation.

Reports state that 105 houses were completely destroyed, while an additional 5,900 homes suffered severe damage due to the floods in northern Chile.

“Because of the catastrophe in our country, hearts were open to receive Christ,” Victor says. “Disaster became an opportunity to share Christ in shelters and on the street to the many volunteers who had come to help from other cities.”

Last March, this deadly flood claimed 26 lives and left thousands of people homeless and without any earthly possessions. But EHC workers were there to take the love of Jesus to the streets at that time of great need. As a result, Victor’s team far surpassed his ambitious goal of reaching 115,000 households with the Gospel. Instead, they delivered the hope of salvation to more than 119,000 households, temporary shelters and hostels in their devastated nation, and 2,773 more lost souls responded to the message of the cross.

Almost a year later, the signs of that devastating day in northern Chile are still clearly visible. Shelters continue to house families who lost everything, and many streets and roads cannot be used for travel. But the people of Chile have strength and solidarity as a nation, and — because of last year’s unexpectedly extended Easter Outreach — thousands more now have Jesus.

An EHC worker prays for a family affected by the flood after delivering much needed supplies to them.

s an American Christian, I’ve grown up learning that God loves me, cares about me and has forgiven me of every wrongdoing I’ve ever done or ever could do. But I sometimes

wonder: What if, from infancy, I was taught that God was angry with me? What if, in elementary school, I learned He’s thirsty for vengeance and ready to punish my every sin? What if, by the time I was an adult, I believed that my mistakes were the reason my kids became sick or my wife was unable to conceive?

For me, this is an unthinkable suggestion. But for many in Sierra Leone, this way of thinking is all they know. “They [the indigenous people of Sierra Leone] have been indoctrinated from the cradle,” Michael French, our National Director in this West African country, explained. “There are sorcerers who make a living off of the fear of others.” Michael called this “the oldest trade,” meaning there is always somebody looking for a way to capitalize on the fear of others. This fear is taught from a young age, and then people pay sorcerers to convince God to cure, forgive and heal on their behalf.

The question for the EHC team in Sierra Leone is: How do you introduce someone to Jesus? How do you let people know God not only isn’t angry with them but wants to forgive everything with no strings attached? This was the challenge Michael French and his team faced on an outreach to the township of Kabala. This area is vastly unreached with the gospel message, and Michael admitted, “We were warned of the dangers by other missionaries.” But they were not afraid. “We decided to go there with an open heart and with the principles of love, care and hospitality,” he said.

As the team first arrived, they saw a group of men cutting down coconut trees to make a bridge across a small river. Michael and his team spent the day helping the men construct their bridge. After they finished building the bridge, the EHC team spent the evening sharing their story. It was the building of the literal bridge that also built a metaphorical one. Michael said his team does acts of service “to demonstrate the humility, love, care and help of the Lord Jesus Christ. That’s how we first preach to them.” The strategy worked as eight of the ten men they talked with committed their lives to Jesus.

The conversation our team had with these men portrayed a different picture of God to them. It introduced them to a God who doesn’t command them to be afraid, but to be kind to others — a Creator who is not looking to cripple them, but to help them accomplish more than they ever could on their own. And the EHC pioneer missionaries are willing to risk anything to see men like these introduced to the true God.

“It’s my joy and satisfaction when I see people understanding that God loves them, and is not mad at them,” Michael explained. Many times, when I hear about stories in the mission field, the ones that amaze me are miraculous healings — things like crooked legs being straightened or the blind seeing the sky for the first time. But in hearing this story, I’m grabbed by what a miracle it is for someone to think about God in a certain way for his or her entire life and then, in one encounter, to have that thinking completely reversed. I’m still in awe when I hear about the miracle of someone being introduced to Jesus for the first time.

hrist is risen from the dead,” a voice declares. “Blessed is the resurrection of Christ!” another responds.

This is the traditional Easter greeting in Armenia. Easter is a major holiday in this nation, where celebrations often begin on Good Friday and last throughout the weekend.

But do Armenians know what they are celebrating?Artavazd Tadevosyan, National Director of Every

Home for Christ Armenia, thinks that most don’t. “The majority of Armenians are nominal Christians,” he says. “They confess Christianity, but they don’t know Christ.”

Despite this challenge, Every Home for Christ Armenia has hope for its nation, and especially at Easter. Easter is

the one day of the year many will attend church, so it is a strategic time to have real conversations about Jesus.

To take advantage of this opportunity, Every Home for Christ Armenia planned a major Easter Outreach in 2013. Churches from various denominations joined efforts to spread the Gospel across nine cities. They put up posters and shared gospel booklets in homes, hospitals, military bases and orphanages. They also invited people to evangelistic events, drawing big crowds in some villages.

As a result, many Armenians gave their lives to Christ, and several new Christ Groups were started. But the testimonies of lives changes were the most rewarding for our workers.

AN ADDICT

Narek had been addicted to drugs for more than 10 years. Despite his best efforts, he was unable to free himself. So when he heard about the Easter event being held in his city, he figured he had nothing to lose by attending.

Narek heard the Gospel at that event. Though he was moved by the love of Jesus, he was hesitant to make a commitment. Instead, Narek made a deal with God: if God could free him from his addiction, Narek would give his life to Him.

Two weeks after the event, Narek suddenly realized that he no longer desired drugs. Instead, his addiction had been replaced by a desire to read God’s Word. Immediately, Narek gave his life to Jesus and joined an EHC Christ Group. He now dreams of opening a drug rehabilitation center.

Easter Outreaches aren’t simple. Campaigns and events are planned, churches and workers are rallied, and gospel messages are printed and shipped. But the investment is worth it when we hear stories of people like Davit, Milena and Narek.

Lives are changed when we take the time to share Jesus with others — because everyone needs Jesus.

1 Orphans in Armenia listen as EHC workers explain God’s plan for their salvation and adoption into His family. 2 Each orphan received a children’s gospel booklet and an Easter bag filled with goodies.

A VETERAN

Armenia has a history of war with its neighbors, and the violence has taken its toll. Many veterans are severely handicapped, and there are more than the government can effectively care for. In harsh economic conditions, former soldiers struggle to get by.

Davit was one of these veterans. As a soldier, he had sacrificed greatly for his country, but he felt he had received nothing in return. This so discouraged him that he would often contemplate suicide. To suppress these dark thoughts, Davit drank heavily.

Our gospel workers met Davit during the Easter Outreach. They gave him a donation of money (from their own pockets) along with a gospel booklet. Davit thanked them for the money but seemed to ignore the booklet.

To our workers’ surprise, Davit showed up for their evangelistic event later that week. He told them that, as he was sobering up, he saw the booklet and decided to give it a chance. At the event, Davit was loved and cared for more than he had been in years, and it touched his heart. When he heard the Gospel, he put his faith in Jesus. Davit has been a regular church member ever since.

A DESPERATE MOTHER

The city of Maralik is one of the poorest in Armenia. With few job opportunities, most men are forced to look for work in Russia or Ukraine. Often, these men start new families abroad and forget about the people they left behind. The wives abandoned in Maralik must then find ways to provide for their children, and many turn to prostitution.

During the Easter Outreach, a woman named Milena was invited to an evangelistic event and was warmly welcomed by our workers when she arrived. She told them that her husband had gone to Russia for work 10 years before, and she had not heard from him since. Then she admitted that she had sold her body in order to provide for her children.

Rather than condemning Milena, our workers prayed for her. They also prayed for her husband, and they shared the Good News of Jesus with her. Milena accepted Jesus that day and immediately joined a Christ Group for new believers.

LESSON TWO: THE PRAYER WARRIOR’S PERSONAL LIFE

Page 13: Every Home - March 2016

In May, the Philippines will hold its national election, an important time for any nation. Our workers there ask for prayer that the Filipino people will vote for God-fearing leaders to direct their country. (Joshua 22-24)

The team in Slovakia recently developed a new piece of gospel literature designed to reach people in the villages. Several months of work went into this literature. Please pray that it will be an effective tool to introduce people to Jesus in the coming months. (Judges 1-3)

Siblings Claude, Mriette and Alida were orphaned and forced to get by on their own. Thankfully, a local church is supporting them, and the pastor’s wife has given them special care. Please pray for God to provide for this family and for the children to know Him as their Savior. (Psalms 42-44)

“I came to discover that I must share the Gospel with others,” a recently trained pioneer missionary told us. “All strategies and procedures that you taught are very useful.” Please pray that more workers will be trained and inspired to share the Gospel in their countries. (Judges 13-15)

Our workers in this nation have persevered amid difficulty. They travel by foot to take the Gospel to every home. They also often come under the scrutiny of strict authorities, but God continues to bless their outreach. Please pray for their continued protection as they work. (Judges 16-18)

Our workers in Belize praise God that they reached 10,000 homes with the Gospel in 2015. Please pray for them as they plan their strategy to reach even more homes in 2016, and pray that the families of Belize will have hearts open to receive the Good News. (Judges 19-21)

In the face of opposition from some in the community, Christ Groups continue to meet and are even spreading to new areas. Eight people were recently baptized! Please pray for God’s protection over these groups as they continue to grow in their faith. (Judges 4-6)

EHC workers in the former Soviet Republic of Moldova sometimes face rejection and harsh words as they work to share the Gospel with every home in their nation. Please pray for God to give them courage and perseverance as they share the Good News with the lost. (Judges 7-9)

EHC workers were met with callous opposition as they took the Gospel to the community of Paillet. But talking with people about “reconciliation and peace” opened the door for meaningful conversations. Please pray for the people of Paillet to put their faith in Jesus. (Judges 10-12)

Despite many obstacles, hundreds have received the Gospel, and our workers have conducted discipleship training in over half of the provinces in this nation. Please pray for their continued protection and for the Gospel to go forth unhindered. (Psalms 45-47)

Our workers received this message following an outreach: “Since God sent you here to give us His Word, we have felt His care and love... Messages from your scripture booklets bring communication from heaven to us.” Praise God! Please pray for growing new believers in Lesotho. (Ruth 1-4)

Please pray for 40 new believers who gave their lives to Christ following a weekend outreach. Pray that the Holy Spirit will grow their faith as they connect with other believers who will disciple them in churches and Christ Groups. (1 Samuel 1-3)

Every Home for Christ Uganda recently held evangelism and discipleship training in a region known for its occultism and false teaching. Please pray that the light of the Gospel will shine in the darkness of this area. (1 Samuel 4-6)

University students joined a church for a local outreach. Afterward, the students expressed their desire to continue sharing the Gospel on campus. Please pray that these young evangelists will maintain their drive to share the Good News and that others will join them. (1 Samuel 7-9)

When Christ Groups received Bibles, the believers rejoiced. “They went through the pages of the Bibles, studying the Word together,” our workers tell us. Please pray that these growing Christians will share what they learn from Scripture with others in their communities. (1 Samuel 10-13)

HAITITwenty new believers have formed a Christ Group in Haiti, and six of them were recently baptized. Praise the Lord! Please pray for them to grow in their faith as EHC workers continue to disciple them. (1 Samuel 14-16)

Despite a lack of highways to reach remote villages, our workers were able to reach 11,300 homes with the Gospel. Praise God! Please pray that those who received the Good News will have hearts open to salvation through Jesus. (Psalms 48-50)

EHC evangelists recently did an outreach in a neighborhood of Cancún that calls itself “the forgotten of society.” Please pray for the people of this neighborhood to know that God remembers them when nobody else does. (1 Samuel 17-19)

Our team recently gave a book about biblical prophecy to a man. After reading it, the man now believes in the Bible! Our workers have sent him a Bible, and they are meeting with him regularly. Please pray for this man as his faith grows. (1 Samuel 29-31)

Every Home for Christ Uruguay is working with the Council of the Assemblies of God to train 15 churches in evangelism. Please pray for this partnership as it creates a movement of outreach to the lost in this nation. (2 Samuel 1-3)

Bernard, a ring leader of the drug trade, was shocked when EHC workers came to his door. “I could not believe that God cares for me and sent His servants right to my home,” he said. Bernard gave his life to Jesus that day. Please pray for him as he shares and grows in his new faith. (Psalms 51-53)

Our team in Serbia is celebrating a fruitful recent outreach. Over 100,000 pieces of gospel literature were shared, and more than 400 responses were received from across their country. Please pray for God to direct this team as it follows up on this harvest. (1 Samuel 20-22)

Our workers in Mali rejoice as they take the Gospel home to home in their nation. Please pray that all our workers around the globe will be filled with the same infectious joy in sharing the Good News of salvation. (1 Samuel 23-25)

Three churches recently participated in an outreach, taking the Gospel home to home. Of those who listened, 20 people gave their lives to Jesus. Praise the Lord for this response, and please pray that these new believers will share their faith with others as they grow. (1 Samuel 26-28)

People sometimes wear amulets for spiritual protection. But when our workers shared the Gospel during a recent outreach, many cut off their amulets and burned them as a symbol of their decisions for Jesus. Please pray that more people will turn from the darkness to the light. (2 Samuel 4-6)

Our workers are reaching out to tribal people in Liquiçá. To their surprise, children in these homes had already brought EHC gospel booklets to their families to read. Please pray that those who first heard the message from their children will put their faith in Jesus as our workers follow up. (2 Samuel 7-9)

Please pray for a man named Mr. A. At first, he would not accept anything from our workers who came to his house. But when they returned for follow-up, he invited them in. Please pray that God will continue to soften his heart to the message of the Gospel. (2 Samuel 10-12)

During an outreach in Siberia, our workers took extra time to visit a home for the elderly. The residents were overjoyed by the company, and our workers are making plans to return. Please pray that their second visit will have just as much impact as the first. (2 Samuel 13-15)

child. But at the age of 16, a summer camp experience brought Artavazd back to his senses. With tears in his eyes, he repented and surrendered his life to Christ.

Artavazd entered pastoral ministry only three years later. Though he was still young, he helped organize a three-month missionary school. Thousands of people heard the Gospel from graduates of this program, and it was by doing this work that Artavazd first crossed paths with Every Home for Christ.

After getting to know Artavazd through the years, Every Home for Christ recently asked him to take over the leadership of Every Home for Christ Armenia. Though he had striven to take the Gospel to other countries around the world for more than 12 years, Artavazd had always felt his heart pulled toward the people of his own country. He accepted the position and became the National Director of Every Home for Christ Armenia in early 2015.

Though Armenia is officially a Christian nation, its state church is often more of a hindrance than a help. Most Armenians are nominal Christians, believing they are saved but lacking a real understanding of the Gospel. Meanwhile, the Armenian

Apostolic Church labels Evangelical churches as “sects,” making some people hesitant to listen to our workers’ message.

Despite this challenge, Artavazd has great hope for his country. “The majority of the population wants to know the truth,” he says. “This gives us an opportunity to introduce the Gospel to people, and many of them accept the Word with joy.” According to Artavazd, the number of Evangelical churches in Armenia is actually growing as people become more open to the Gospel.

“Every Home for Christ’s ministry unifies churches around the idea of preaching the Gospel,” he says “The Word of God is mighty… A small gospel message is able to change a whole life.”

This is why Artavazd is excited by the challenge to take the Gospel to every home in Armenia. He and his wife, Aneta, have three children, Agape, Arame and Emily, and they want to thank the supporters of Every Home for Christ.

“We wouldn’t be able to do what we are doing now without their help,” Artavazd says. “Be sure that your input will bring a huge result.”
