Reaching a Nation with the Good News

Just before Jesus was taken up into heaven, He addressed His disciples saying, “You shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth” (Acts 1:8, NASB). I wonder if Christ’s disciples ever dreamed that the kingdom-building campaign He set in motion through His death and resurrection would continue far beyond their own lifetimes to our own, nearly 2,000 years later.

The life-long journey of faith that the first disciples embarked upon was filled with both pain and triumph. Thousands of people heard the Good News and were born again, but discipleship came at a cost. The apostle Paul gives a quick list of the perils he endured that included imprisonment, beatings, whippings, shipwreck, thirst, and hunger as he followed in Christ’s footsteps (2 Corinthians 11:23-27).

And yet, after all Paul went through, he endured it gladly, “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed” (Romans 8:18, NASB).

Christ gave us the ultimate example of what commitment and sacrifice really mean. His entire life was devoted to doing the will of God. Jesus once said, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work” (John 4:34, NASB). He lived his life for God and gave His life as a sacrifice to take away the sins of the world.

The example that Christ and His first followers set was not wasted on future generations. For centuries, believers have endured persecution and martyrdom for the privilege of sharing the Good News with a lost world.

So what about our own generation? As we move forward in 2012, where are today’s valiant warriors who are battling forces of darkness, enduring persecution, spreading the Gospel, and longing for the day of Christ’s return? As fellow believers who take the Great Commission seriously, we are bound to a worldwide family of committed men and women who are risking their lives to help take the Gospel to the “remotest part of the earth.”

Persecution is still the reality for believers who are working with Every Home for Christ in what we call Creative Access nations. In several regions, Christians are marked for death. But there are tens of thousands of courageous believers who are working hand in hand with EHC, willing to die for the sake of Christ (See more on p. 8).

Our network of underground and persecuted saints spans the Middle East, Asia and nations under the control of brutal dictators who want to wipe out the Christian faith. Our pioneer missionaries in Creative Access nations have quietly distributed more than 925 million gospel booklets, leading to more than 66 million responses. More than 67,000 Christ Group fellowships have also been planted in Creative Access nations as a living testimony to the life-changing power of the Gospel. No matter what barriers to the Gospel the enemy tries to put up in Creative Access nations, Jesus can always break through.

We have also launched a campaign this year to take the Gospel to the island nation of Trinidad & Tobago. Take a look at the photo essay in this issue of EveryHome Magazine and imagine the thousands of families who will be touched with the Gospel as a result of this new project. We know you will be blessed as you read about EHC’s new home-to-home evangelistic campaign in this Caribbean nation, one of several to be launched in the upcoming months.

Working in partnership with thousands of local churches and dedicated pioneer missionaries worldwide, EHC is also coordinating dynamic gospel outreaches across Africa, Latin America, and island nations of the Pacific, carrying the Great Commission forward through another new year. More than 107 million people have responded to EHC gospel outreaches, but our work will continue as long as the Lord tarries.

The story about Swaziland on page 10 caught my attention. This African kingdom is governed by one of the last remaining monarchs in the world today. But the sovereign rule of the king serves as a reminder that one day Christ will return and rule as King of Kings over every nation! I pray that day will come soon, and if it does I know He will be pleased to find us building His kingdom through the proclamation of the Gospel to every home in every nation of the world!

EHC has recently launched a new work in the Caribbean

nation of Trinidad & Tobago. This photo essay documents the step-by-step process of

EHC's international team and Prayer Corps interns as they

joyfully watched the sovereign working of God strategically

open doors for the Gospel to reach every home in

this nation.

As the project was launched in Trinidad & Tobago, EHC headquarters staff met with 15 denominational leaders to explain the work, to cast the vision, and to engage the partnership of the local church.

EHC Prayer Corps Intercessory Missionaries pray over the newly-appointed National Coordinator and the office/storage space that is being rented to house the work.

Over 50 church volunteers, excited to reach their nation with the Gospel, spent four hours on a Saturday to receive training on how to go home to home and how to use EHC's evangelism and discipleship materials.

EHC's Prayer Corps team prepared the packets of materials that the

local volunteers used to evangelize and disciple.

After the training, ten teams canvassed the

neighborhood home to home, sharing the Gospel

and love of Jesus.

The response was overwhelmingly positive

as many were open to listening, with some even

joyfully receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior on

the spot!

At the fi rst house visited (pictured above) the young man prayed to receive Jesus and was eager to attend a service at a local church. This undoubtedly encouraged the teams and increased their faith to see God move in their nation.

Special children's books and literature were distributed in addition to materials for adults.

With many churches across Trinidad & Tobago, teams will continue going home to home with the Good News. Through strategic planning, and with the resources and workers available, we believe that the entire nation can be reached within less than two years. Already in 2012, fi ve trips are planned to send teams to serve the church and help in seeing this great task fulfi lled! SWAZILANDBuilding God’s Kingdom in

nown as Ngweyama (The Lion), King Mswati III is the sovereign ruler of the Kingdom of Swaziland,

one of the world’s few remaining monarchies.

Landlocked between South Africa and the southwestern border of Mozambique, many of the kingdom’s 1.4 million subjects are farmers and herdsmen. Tragically, an escalating HIV/AIDS epidemic has already infected more than 26 percent of the population, contributing to widespread poverty and economic chaos. Mounting opposition to King Mswati’s rule has sparked a growing pro-democracy sentiment among the people.

The spread of HIV has killed thousands of people, shattered families and left villages filled with orphans. EHC’s gospel outreaches help share the love of God with children by distributing gospel booklets and Bible-study materials to children in homes, orphanages and schools.

“Pray for our nation,” says EHC Director Joseph Gule. “We are faced with many challenges that are now affecting our young people who are in schools and universities. The financial situation is very bad, but we can see the results of prayer and all the help that God is giving our nation.”

Every Home for Christ is working with local churches to help train leaders and mobilize congregations to share the Gospel across the land. The simplicity of home-to-home evangelism, using gospel booklets and

Bible-study materials provided by EHC, has been a blessing to local churches and life-changing to people who have come to know Christ through the outreaches.

“The program of home-to-home evangelism has resulted in many people being saved, and we are witnessing new faces coming to our church every Sunday,” says Pastor George Shabangu. “EHC’s program has helped us follow the Great Commission without a big budget, keeping it simple. We have seen passion grow among our members, which inspires others to get involved in our home-to-home campaigns. Praise the Lord!”

A man named Musa received the greatest gift of all when heard the Gospel and accepted Jesus as His Savior. “I am thankful to God for sending the EHC team to my home to give me an opportunity to hear and learn about the great love of God,” Musa said. “My old life has passed away. My eyes have been opened to eternal peace and I have new life in Christ. I am determined to share my new life with my family and friends.”

Utilizing EHC’s Mobile Training Center program, pioneer missionaries are able to travel throughout the land, providing pastoral training to church leaders and instruction in home-to-home evangelism to entire congregations. A pastor in the isolated village of Mahawalala saw his church transformed after receiving training and participating in an Every Home Campaign in their area.

One letter sent to the EHC office in Mbabane said, “I am Pastor Thulane Thwala from Gucuka, one of the most remote areas in Swaziland. I attended one of your trainings, which was about preaching to the last home on earth. This was really an answer to my many problems and challenges that were overwhelming my ministry, due to the lack of funds and support in our area.

“From that training I went back to my church to help them understand that we can succeed in reaching souls for Christ. From that time we have seen people coming to our church as a result of the initiative to go to their homes and share the everlasting Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Many thanks to EHC for the simple vision for just doing the Great Commission.”

After believers see their neighbors turn to Christ in response to sharing the Good News, most want to continue the campaign and expand into other areas.

“I thank God to be serving with an organization that is giving every person the chance of reading and hearing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ,” said Pastor Langwenya, who also serves as one of EHC’s pioneer missionaries. “I am writing this letter to request more literature for distribution as we have exhausted everything we had. We are seeing more churches opening up to our ministry and they are asking for 40,000 more gospel booklets from us.”

Involving youth groups in community evangelism is breathing new life into churches and hope for the future of Swaziland. A young man named Thulane discovered a new calling from God when he helped share the Gospel home to home in Madubeni.

“I was among a group of young people in my church who participated in an EHC campaign,” Thulane said. “My life was transformed through the ministry of home-to-home evangelism and literature distribution.

“Since that campaign, I have been committed to home-to-home evangelism. I have witnessed salvations, healings, and new people coming to our church. I have been challenged to read the Bible more and more so that I can answer all those who ask questions during my home visits. I thank God for such a simple strategy and for all of the trainings EHC has given us. We are seeing so much fruit. Thank God for EHC in my country!”

More than 360,000 people have responded to the Gospel, adding new life to village congregations and inspiring believers to work even harder to reach the last home with the Good News. Praise God for a new believer, Jean-Baptiste. After many years of persecution, his family now accepts his life in Christ. Pray that the Lord would give courage and strength to others who are still being persecuted and disowned after they accept the Lord. (Exodus 4-6)

Pray for the Be Fruitful and Multiply training that is ongoing in the south in this nation. Believers are being strengthened in the Lord through this storytelling scriptural discipleship program. Pray that the training would continue to produce much fruit. (Exodus 7-9)

Recently two gospel booklets (50,000 copies of each booklet) were printed. Thank the Lord for supplying this need. Pray that the Holy Spirit would anoint the booklets as families receive them and that many would come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior. (Exodus 10-12)

Pray for spiritual awakening nationwide among the hundreds of millions of unbelievers. May the merciful Lord send revival upon this country. Pray for EHC volunteers who will be reaching about 60,000 people in the weeks ahead. (Psalms 18-20)

Today, EHC staff and Intercessory Missionaries continue 18 hours of prayer and worship daily, from 6:00 a.m. to midnight (MST). Together we gather to pray for every nation on earth. Join us in person at EHC headquarters or at home for EHC’s global outreaches. (Exodus 22-24)

Ask the Lord for wisdom as EHC plans the ministry outreaches for the year 2012. Pray as EHC seeks to penetrate new areas in Mozambique. EHC seeks to expand into many other parts of the country that include the south and extreme north, which are Muslim-dominated. (Exodus 25-27)

Pray for the transportation needs of EHC workers in Malawi. The fuel shortage makes it difficult for pioneer missionaries to use their motorbikes. Many areas do not have public transportation although most EHC workers travel that way when it is available. (Exodus 13-15)

The media is full of propaganda inciting hatred against all protestant churches. In the cities of Sisian and Agarak during a recent month there were serious problems and opposition to the distribution of EHC gospel literature. Pray for Armenia. (Exodus 16-18)

Last year an earthquake struck the town of Lorca. Today Lorca is recovering and through the efforts of local churches in partnership with EHC, a gospel leaflet is being placed in the hands of every family. Pray that many would come to know the Lord through this effort. (Exodus 19-21)

Rev. C. K. Lau pastors a church in Taiwan and is also a university lecturer. He is conducting a senior’s workshop in Singapore this month. The theme is “Care and Concern in Life and Death and Palliative Care.” Pray for the speaker as well as the participants to be encouraged. (Exodus 28-30)

Ask God to continue to bless the outreach in Vienna and that many would experience faith in Christ. Pray also for the unique opportunities that hospital outreaches entail like the one where an 80-year-old woman asked for several gospel booklets to share with friends. (Exodus 31-33)

Praise the Lord for the revival of pastors and churches in the area of Comayaguela. Pray for Pastor José Leonidas Romero as he partners with EHC in helping minister to and disciple a Christ Group in El Chaguita, a poverty-stricken community. (Exodus 34-37)

More teachers are needed for EHC’s Mobile Training Centers (MTCs). Many opportunities are being realized from the relationships built through literature distribution. Pray for the continued growth of this vital MTC discipleship program. (Exodus 38-40)

Pray for the continued strengthening of National Director Brother Cheng who suffered a heart attack late last year. Pray for wisdom in working with local churches and Christ Groups in order to fulfill the Great Commission. (Psalms 21-23)

There are around 30,000 orphans in Ukraine, many of whom live on the streets or in precarious arrangements. Pray that church members will adopt these children some of whom suffer from the effects of the nuclear catastrophe at Chernobyl. (Leviticus 1-3)

DAILY PRAYER WATCHAsk the Lord for peace to reign in Kabo, which is under the constant threat of highway bandits. Pray for the strengthening of the members of the Christ Groups in Ngouyali, Makili, and Balengo. Pray for Gontikiri that the occult practices would be halted. (Leviticus 4-6)

Praise the Lord for the arrival of a container of much-needed literature from World Missionary Press. Pray for open doors this year in other provinces that have not yet had an EHC systematic home-to-home outreach. Pray for workers as well as partnering churches. (Leviticus 7-9)

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord” (Psalm 150:6). Pray for Pastor Tomislav Dobutovich and the members of his church in Sarajevo who are working in partnership with EHC in taking the Good News of the Gospel home to home in their city. (Leviticus 10-12)

Praise the Lord for a newly-established church where 35 converts received water baptism! Pray for the primary level schools with more than 1,100 students. EHC Bangladesh not only provides general education but also shares the love of God with the students. (Leviticus 19-21)

In the city of Gyomaendrod (pop. 16,000) its citizens, “showed a total lack of interest in the Gospel,” observed EHC Director Peter Sztano. Pray that the Lord will speak to the hearts of families who were contacted in their homes with the message of the Gospel of Christ. (Leviticus 22-24)

Praise God for an open door to the Military General Headquarters in Juba where Bibles were distributed and enthusiastically received. Pray for the EHC campaign in Kaji-Keji County, that God would prepare hearts to receive the Gospel. (Leviticus 25-27)

EHC volunteers are visiting several cities where there are strong critics of the Gospel. Pray for their hearts to be softened. There is also a significant number of drug dealers and addicts in these cities. Many families suffer because of the drug trade. Pray for this region. (Leviticus 13-15)

EHC workers have started a project in schools called “The Influence of Mass Media on the Young Generation.” One principal told us, “We ask that you would teach kids beginning in first grade as well as parents about the Internet.” Pray for this open door of ministry into schools. (Leviticus 16-18)

Pray for the evange-bike project, which seeks to raise support locally to purchase 200 bicycles for EHC pioneer missionaries in rural areas of Zambia. A live radio program is broadcasting as part of the same project. Ask the Lord to touch the hearts of the listeners. (Psalms 24-26)

Within Mechelen and Brussels more than 100 localities have no evangelical presence. Several churches from the area have contacted EHC in order to partner in reaching their communities. Pray that these workers would give a strong presentation of the Gospel. (Numbers 1-3)

One of EHC’s leaders who received Be Fruitful and Multiply (BFAM) training is sharing the Gospel with seven families in a nearby town. In addition, seven other households accepted Christ in that same town. Pray for the continued success of the BFAM ministry. (Numbers 4-6)

Pray for all the kids who gave their lives to the Lord in Otjerunda after watching the Jesus film. Pray for their teacher and the whole school that they will be touched by the Lord. Pray for the strength of the EHC ministry team to reach all the schools in Kaokoland. (Numbers 7-9)

Pray for the provision of a 4x4 vehicle in order to enhance the EHC ministry with workers being able to travel even further into remote regions for outreaches. Pray for the protection of EHC staff and local workers as they go home to home in sharing the life-changing message of the Gospel. (Psalms 27-29)

Pray for those who respond after reading the gospel messages that they would continue to seek after the Lord. And, pray for those who visit EHC’s website “How Is It”—that they would think about how God desires to have fellowship with them. (Numbers 10)

It’s obvious through the Ten Commandments and the Bible that the Lord places a great emphasis on putting important things in writing. We put important things in writing too—things like marriage licenses and business contracts. But, when it comes to writing our Last Will and Testament, we tend to put it off year after year.
