I watched the movie The Bucket List

on New Years Day. A ter re ecting on

the movie or a ew days, I sat down

and wrote my own bucket list. I always

love the beginning o a new year. It

eels like you can make a resh start,

make changes and new resolutions. As

you all know, 2008 was a challenging

year or many. At times I wanted to rip

the page o the calendar and look at

the old year rom the rear view mirror.

I have an old riend who told me once

that every morning when he wakes up,

he tells himsel this: Every day is gi t,

every challenge is an opportunity and

every meal is a banquet. I have tried

to always remember this. It is amazing

what we can survive and actually enjoy

i we have a good attitude while we doit. I truly believe every single person

can change their uture by merely

changing their attitude.

One o my daughters works in the

fnancial industry. The 2008 economy

was probably something she may

never see again in her career. She

shared with me that she is not

stressed or worried about the current

conditions. Instead, she is embracing

the chaos and uncertainty o the stock

market and economic environment.

She wants to learn everything she

can about turning the market around.

It may not be an easy turn-around

or even a un one, but what anopportunity to learn and grow.

My other three daughters have had

challenges in 2008 as well. I learn

so much rom them as I see them

handle their individual challenges so

well. Time goes by too ast and people

come in and out o our lives. Li e can

change in a heartbeat. Lets remind

somehow and saw the Home Baked

candles that all have super-cute

In 1994, I was living on a large ruitarm in Provo, Utah. The hours were

long, the work was hard and living ona dirt road meant our car was alwaysdirty. On top o the arm work, thestacks o dishes and piles o laundrycreated by my our daughters and

fve step children kept me on the goaround the clock.

Driving down the long dirtroad to our home one summer day,I saw my daughter Ste anie drivinga tractor on the arm. She was a 12year-old at the time and I was so a raidshe would get hurt. My husband and Iwanted our children to learn the valueo hard work, but I knew there werebetter ways to teach them that lessonthan by riding tractors!

I wanted the girls to learn to workin a way that would be un and sa e. In

1995, I opened a retail bath and bodyshop called For Every Body in the localmall. We were on vacation as a amilywhen we held a contest to see whocould come up with the best name. Iremember writing the kids ideas onthe back o a checkbook. Ste anie,the daughter on the tractor, came upwith For Every Body. My dreamscame true as the store quickly becamea place or the girls and their riendsto work. Be ore we knew it, we had

opened three stores in local mallswithin three years.

In 1997, we developed anall-natural line o bath and bodyproducts and launched themnationally. Soon we had 15 wholesaleshowrooms and 150 reps selling ourproducts. In 1999 we introduced a lineo soy based candles to complimentour bath products.The candles were an incredible

success, but I never dreamed wewould turn into a candle company.Now, For Every Body is oneo the largest privatelyheld candlecompanies inthe UnitedStates, aswell as thelargest emale-owned soycandle company.

From our armhouse days, I couldnever have imagined we would bewhere we are today.

There have been so many changes.The children are all grown up and weno longer have bath shops in the malls.A residential development covers theland where our arm once existed.I am not even married to the sameman anymore. Sometimes li e has away o throwing us curve balls, butI always say, I nothing everchanged, there would be

no butter ies.

As Dr. Seusssays, dont crybecause it isover, smile because ithappened. Despite all thechange, so much good

has come alongthe way.Today I have the pleasure o

working with my husband Paul,my ex-husband, Scott, some o my

children, and a wonder ul team o

January 2009 I celebrated my rst anniversary as a consultant with For
