Anniversary of Dr. Sook Pookaya- porn - the University Founder. The ceremony was chaired by Dr. Malinee Pookayaporn, the licensee of the establishment of Sripatum University, while, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanchit Malaivongs Chairman of the University Council, and Dr. Rutchaneeporn P. Phukkamarn President of Sripatum University led Executives, faculty members & staff, students to participate in activities which were organized to honor Dr. Suk Pookayaporn’s contribution and dedication to the youth development especially in the area of Education. As part of the event, there was also the exhibition where the partici- pants could learn about the story of Dr. Suk Pookayaporn and his simple lifestyle, his management skill and his achievement in educa- tion sector. On this special occasion, the recognition awards are annually presented to outstanding individuals. This year, the awards go to Associate Dean of the School of Information Technology of SPU Chonburi - Dr. Sethachai Chaisanit, Full time lecturer of the School of Accountancy Assistant Professor Suwannee Rungjatu- rong, and Library Officer Ms. Yupin Im-arhan. Congratulations to All!! On 11 July 2016, School of Accountancy – SPU Khon Kaen organ-ized the Theoritical and Practical training on Accountancy under the special program created for Young & Smart Accountants. On this occasion, Mr. Sarote Suwattikul - Deputy Director of the Depart-ment of Business Development, the Ministry of Commerce, was invited to be a guest speaker to give the presentation entitled “The Mission of the Department of Business Development”, and also specially conducted the training for Young & Smart Accountants. With the cooperation from other education institutions, this training for young Accountants was aimed at developing students in the field of accounting to become knowledge workers and to be ready to face AEC’s competition.

SPU Celebrated Its New College of Logistics and Supply Chain Sripatum University recently established the College of Logistics and Supply Chain with aim of providing advanced teaching and learning and to be the sources of knowledge and research in logis-tics and supply chain. The opening ceremony, organized on 7 July 2016, was presided over by President Dr. Rutchaneeporn P. Phuk-kamarn, while the guests were welcomed by Assistant to the Presi-dent Dr. KamolChaiyawat – who will also take responsibility as the Dean of the College of Logistics and Supply Chain. The College offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in order to produce the ideal graduates in the field to meet the demands of the job market under the integration of AEC and expanding globaliza-tion.

Sripatum University proudly announced of the new College of Avia-tion and Transportation which has recently been established with grand opening ceremony held on 7 July 2016. President of Sripatum University Dr. Rutchaneeporn P. Phukkamarn presided over the opening ceremony, and officially welcomed the Dean of the College of Aviation and Transportation – Air Chief Marshal Pitthaporn Glin-fuang. The College aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in their aviation careers, starting with the program of Aviation Safety Management which offers knowledge and training on aviation safety management systems, accidents and prevention, aviation safety plan, rules and regulations for aviation, air traffic control system etc. At the end of third year, students can choose to become a pilot – either a private pilot (Private Pilot Li-cense: PPL) or a commercial pilot (Commercial Pilot License: CPL).

SPU Officially Opens College of Aviation and Transportation

Office of International Relations - Sripatum University Chonburi cam-pus, through its director, Ms. Nanvandee Chaichinda, initiated a com-munity outreach project to Sripalothai Temple School, located in Klongtumru District, Chonburi Province on July 12, 2016. The project intends to teach grade school students to improve reading skills and comprehension. Along with English major students from the School of Liberal Arts, staffs of OIR facilitated reading activities to sixty students from grades four to six. The students were involved in Reading Aloud, Jigsaw, Q&A Session, games and other group reading activi-ties. Prizes in forms of school supplies and ice treats were shared with the participants for a festive mood. The project commenced with the donation of reading materials for the school library handed by Director Nanvandee Chaichinda herself.

Students of School of Liberal Arts join Japanese Language and Culture Program in Japan President Dr. Rutchaneeporn P. Phukamarn gave advisory speech to 2 students from the School of Liberal Arts; Ms. PannitaBoontet and Ms. Pornpailin Suprom. These 2nd year students majoring in Japanese for Communication have been selected to participate in Japanese Language and Culture Program from 10 July – 10 Au-gust 2016 at Nara Gakuen University, Nara, Japan. The program consists of Japanese language practice and cultural exchange activities. On this occasion, the President and SPU Executives jointly congratulated the students as well as presented the bouquet to the students at Bussakorn room, Sripatum University.

SPU PRIDE :

Students of School of Architecture Won 2 Awards in Elder Innovation

Mr. Oros Laosantisuk and Mr. Tossapon Satan, the 2nd year students of the School of Architecture won the 2nd prize receiving a scholar-ship of THB 50,000 with honorable plaque and a certificate, while Ms. Porntip Hassayapongpan and Ms. Natnicha Manoruang won the con-solation prize receiving a scholarship of THB 10,000 with a certificate. These awards came from their great achievement in the design com-petition “Elder Innovation 2016” which was organized by National Housing Authority and Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to promote the development of innovative design to create a home for senior citizens. The awarding ceremony was recently organ-ized at Anoma Grand Hotel Bangkok, and the awards were presented by Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security - Mr. Witat Techaboon.

ASEAN PLUS 3:

Students Broaden Their Horizons in ASEAN States: Malaysia and Singapore

Assistant to the Dean for Academic Affairs – Mrs. Ranee Amarin-rat and Head of Tourism Management program of the College of Tourism and Hospitality - Dr. Thawit Tanonchit, led students to take a study trip to Malaysia and Singapore on 22 – 25 July 2016. As part of the academic subject “TMT335: International Tourism Management”, students are required to arrange trips and tours, and also participate in the activity themselves. With this practice, they have opportunity to gain strategic travel management skills, business skills, as well as international travel experience.

Chairman of the University Council – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanchit Malaivongs presided over the opening ceremony of the national aca-demic conference 2016 organized at Sripatum University Chonburi campus on 23 July 2016. Under the theme “Interdisciplinary Research and Creative Work for the Development of ASEAN Economic Commu-nity”, the conference aimed at creating the platform for the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and experiences among lecturers, researchers, inventors and students of higher education institutions. During the conference, a variety of activities was arranged to promote academic collaboration and exchange among organizations. The activity also included the special talk entitled “Changes in Technology and the Humanity’s Way of Learning” by Dr. Kraiyos Patrawat – an expert on Educational Economics. The event was very successful with over 200 participants including students from both public and private universities around Thailand.

ENGLISH CAMP @SPU :

Completion of English Camp in Thailand by Students of Providence University - Taiwan: After the successful par-ticipation in the “Study Abroad Program in Thailand:4 week English Camp @SPU”, the 12 students of Provi-dence University, Taiwan, attended the Certificate Award-ing Ceremony on 21 July 2016 organized by the Office of International Relations and Sripatum International Institute of Languages and Cultures. These students joined the English course and actively participated in all kinds of cultural activities arranged by Sripatum University since 27June until 21 July2016 which included cultural tours, corporate visits, as well as cultural events such as the merit making. Not only the students enjoyed learning the languages of both English and Thai, but also they had opportunity to experience the different culture and to cre-ate wonderful friendships with Thai and international stu-dents at Sripatum University. The Certificate Awarding Ceremony and the farewell party were specially organized to celebrate their achievement upon completing the pro-gram. The celebration started with the VDO presentation for the summary of activities, followed by special shows arranged by SPU students and then students of Provi-dence University. On this occasion, Vice President for International Affairs – Mrs. Chinda Tejavanija Chang pre-sented the certificate to each of the students and deliv-ered the congratulatory speech. The program was beauti-fully ended by the Dinner cruise along the Chaophraya River by night.
