European Championship Day Two – Australian Report Well today was all about Bev’s birthday. Rather than gybe training this morning Kev and I went and bought Bev some birthday cards and a low fat coffee cream cake. The cards were in Dutch and the lady assured us they said happy birthday and not sorry to hear about the death of your Dad or congratulations on the birth of your new baby. The forecast was for lighter winds so we decided “Flat Stanley” needed to lose some more weight and so flattened him out some more by driving over him with the hire car. He made some very bad on water calls today and so we ran over him with boat trailer when we got back just for good measure. We told Flat Stan he was off the boat tomorrow but the little chap is trying to get back on boat by filling us full of Grolsch. He is definitely off the boat but we will drink the little fool’s beer. We remain on target to have a top 20 finish with a 17 and 18 today. The fleet is generally very close and you can go from hero to zero in no time at all as we found out today. We experienced the Medemblik Bermuda Triangle today in both races where we disappeared out the back door
