This is an impressive site, combining outstanding mountain views and a convivial location.This is a two-storey wooden ‘vessel’ building with a stone base, and a long south façade. It has a cantilever canopy that gives onto the park and facilitates pedestrian flow.
A show house.In this mountainous region, the use of wood as a building material is the obvious choice.The project owner expected a local and responsible approach to the development in terms of energy performance; and a rapid implementation thanks to dry construction methods, for a modern project and a cosy interior.With its brushed concrete cladding (Equitone fibre cement panels), the exterior mirrors the layered rock of the mountains’ strata.The wood is spruce and, for the most part, bears the Bois des Alpes (Alpine Wood) label. The exterior ceilings are made of Douglas fir.Wood is also present inside the building with slim spruce tongue-and-groove ceilings, and oak floor boards.Both the walls and ceiling are insulated with Métisse recycled cotton insulation.Bourg d’Oisans Community of Municipalities and Town Hall share the entrance and reception area, as well as a pellet boiler heating system.
