EMU PRSSA Chapter to hostStudent Development ConferenceEvent to
offer professional development,
resume critique and internship fair
YPSILANTI, Michigan The Eleanor Wright Chapter of the Public
Relations Student
Society of America at Eastern Michigan University will be
hosting the 14th Annual
Student Development Conference from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec.
2.
The conference, Inspire your Passion, will feature professional
development
workshops, an interviewing seminar, a luncheon, resume critique,
internship fair and a
keynote address by Walter Kraft, Easterns vice president for
communications.
All Eastern students are invited to attend the event; especially
those interested in public
relations, marketing, journalism, communications and other
related fields. There is no
charge for registration; however late registration the day of
the event will cost $10.
The Student Development Conference is a great way for students
to network with
professionals in the field and gain valuable professional
development experience, said
Cherese Colston, president of EMUs PRSSA chapter. The internship
fair at the end of
the day is a great resource as well because students can connect
with organizations
face-to-face instead of just through email and it helps give
them an edge.

Detroit City Council President Charles Pugh to speak to
PR and journalism students at Eastern Michigan April 17
YPSILANTI Detroit City Council President Charles Pugh will be
speaking to Eastern
Michigan University public relations and journalism students on
Tuesday, April 17. Pugh
will speak at 6 p.m. in room 300 of the Student Center, 900
Oakwood, Ypsilanti, Mich.
The Eleanor Wright Chapter of the Public Relations Student
Society of America
(PRSSA) will host Pugh during their last general meeting of the
year. Pugh will talk to
students about ethics and the relationship between journalists
and public relations
professionals.
Pugh is a former television journalist from Fox 2 Detroit and
was elected to the citycouncil in 2009.
There is a $5 required donation to attend the event. All
donations will go towards
Eastern PRSSA. Space is limited and RSVPs are required by
Friday, April 13 to Emily
