q The Ministry of Education Malaysia (MoE) places emphasis on the development of both cognitive and non-cognitive skills

q Globalisation – need to further develop non-

cognitive skills by including new sets of skills & competencies geared towards the 21st century and beyond in the national curriculum

q These 21st century skills will give Malaysian

students an internationally competitive edge

21st century skills as defined by the MoE:

q Skills that will help to create Malaysian students who are balanced, resilient, inquisitive, principled, informed, caring, patriotic, as well as effective thinkers, communicators, and team players

q Reflected in the new Integrated Curriculum for

Primary Schools & forthcoming Integrated Curriculum for Secondary Schools
