Mrs. Collins’s Corner “The Lord never gets tired of forgiving us. It is we, who get tired of asking for forgiveness.” Pope Francis Dear Saint Raphael Parents & Friends: Skipping and smiles—that’s what I saw at Reconciliation last Wednesday as our second graders returned to their pew. I had to smile because I believe that their reaction captured what forgiveness and God’s mercy is all about. Their skipping and smiles reflect the lightheartedness and joy that comes from getting to start all over and not carry the guilt of the past. So why aren’t we all running to Reconciliation? The warm weather is also a reminder that Spring is here and with it the hope of new life. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead in Sunday’s gospel and offers us that same hope in the face of life’s darkest moments. It is easy to fall into the despair of sickness, money problems, and job issues. The hope that Jesus offers is not only something to reflect on during Lent, but throughout the year. Years ago, I had a student who was always getting into trouble. I was at my wits end when he asked if he could have one more chance. God has much more love and patience than I do. His answer would always be, “Yes, of course! I am waiting to love you more!” Spring Fiesta is shortly after we get back from Easter break (April 29!), so we are asking for your help with ticket sales now. Please consider coming if you have not yet been a part of this fabulous party in the past! The month of May has many activities where those who need parent service hours can jump in to help. Please check out our calendar of events to see where you can help. This is about more than just punching a clock to fulfill your service hours. This is about working alongside and getting to know parents who care about their children at Saint Raphael’s. This is about sharing in the building of a community that is second to none! There is a PTG meeting on Wednesday, April 5, 6 pm. Don’t miss it! I remember my mom wrapping me in her arms to say how much she loved me. It was a love that was unconditional and large enough to solve all my childhood problems. That is the love that God offers us as adults. How do we let go and let Him love us? Mrs. Collins’s Corner

Lydia Collins, Directora

Seventh grade students are studying genetics. They are finishing their Paper Pet Projects. Culminating in a group presentation of their Paper Pet parents and the paper parents' offspring along with a Punnett square for each of the 5 traits of the parents. Students used IACCT skills as their key to success. They used critical thinking, innovation, and teamwork in order to create Punnett squares, calculate the probability of each phenotype, design a mobile to display their work, and present their findings with their partner.
