3 Maternal and child health nursing(NURS 1610211). 16 wks(2hrs/wk theory & 15 hrs/wk clinical practice. This course is designed to provide the 2nd year, students,3rd level with the necessary knowledge and skills related to maternal and child health nursing. The theory and practice of this course will focus on critical thinking, problem solving and practical training in the laboratory and clinical settings to help them to master their clinical performance and to develop competency in nursing skills and procedures related to antenatal, natal, postnatal, newborn and gynaecologic nursing. The

course also provides opportunities to students to apply safety measures to women& children throughout their maternity cycle and children’s different phases of life. The course also emphasizes the importance of self-care to overcome the barriers facing women who have difficulty in accessing health care and to meet the needs of each childbearing family.

towards enhancement of candidate knowledge about ethical issues and legal aspects confronting nursing

practices. Current issues in ethics are considered in practicing nursing. Laws controlling nursing practices,

resolving ethical dilemma, and using ethical and legal principles are taken into consideration
