It also allowed us to compare CGRs on a like-for-like basis between wells since the separator conditions of the minilab were held constant. IsoSplit wellhead samples and recombined separator samples proved to be the most effective way of capturing representative samples when compared with the compositional results of samples captured using alternative methods.

Objectives

• Chevron’s reservoir engineers requestedspecialist services for their Gorgon flowback campaign (eight wells)

• The challenge for each flow back was toacquire quantification and composition ofcondensed water and reliable measurementof mercury content in the produced gas

Expro Excellence

• Technology used: Expro Petrotech IsoSplit®wellhead sampling; Expro Petrotech Multi-Ion Analyser; Expro Petrotech Mercury inGas Analysis

• Expro Petrotech IsoSplit wellhead samplingis a unique solution for condensed watermeasurement – it’s principle use is foraccurate condensate/gas ratio (CGR)measurement and the collection of highquality equilibrium separator samples, butwater/gas ratio (WGR) can also bequantified during the flashing of the IsoSplitprocess unit

• Gave the best insight to condensed waterlevels, especially when incorporated withthe salinity and multi-ion analysis results

• Fast report turnaround – “detail and qualityof the reports were outstanding”

• 100% performance score over eight wells

Value to client• Without reliable data, production problemscould occur once feeds come online –smart planning by harvesting quality data inthe lead up to the production phase willmitigate against unforeseen process costsin the future

• Chevron commented that the onsitemercury analysis provided the bestrepresentation to date of the field mercuryin gas levels

• Engineering team had a much betterunderstanding of individual wellcharacteristics and overall field performance

• Excellent communication with the onsiteFluids team, coupled with initiative andwillingness to be adaptive led toprogressive improvements in the samplingprogramme

IsoSplit wellhead sampling gave the best insight yet intocondensed water levels, particularly once salinity and Multi-Ionanalysis results were incorporated. It also allowed us tocompare CGRs on a like-for-like basis between wells since theseparator conditions of the minilab were held constant.
