LYMPH AND LYMPH NODES

Lymph is a clear fluid that travels through your body's arteries, circulates through your tissues to cleanse them

and keep them firm, and then drains away through the lymphatic system.

Lymph nodes are the filters along the lymphatic system. Their job is to filter out and trap bacteria, viruses,

cancer cells, and other unwanted substances, and to make sure they are safely eliminated from the body.

Hodgkin's disease is one of a group of diseases called lymphomas. They are all produced by cancers forming in the

cells of the lymphatic system.

The lymphatic system is a series of microscopic vessels that drain fluid away from the tissues and return it to blood

How is Hodgkin's disease treated? The treatment of Hodgkin's

disease normally

involves radiotherapy, chemotherapy or both.

The type of treatment depends

on the number of clusters of

lymph glands

and the types of cells involved
