FUNDRAISING PURCHASES
School Council approved the purchase of 4 outdoor aluminium settings [identical to the ones outside the Year 5 and 6 area] for outside the canteen area. In addition, the outdoor basketball courts will be top dressed with Plexipave. It is arguably the best acrylic surface available on today's market and will extend the longevity of the court. It will have a dark blue base with white line markings. The school logo will be incorporated into the centre of each court. In addition, basketball poles will be removed, powder coated and reinstalled. Total cost of works will be approx. $47,000.

WHAT IS ‘TOURETTE SYNDROME’
We have a student at our school who has this disorder. Below
are some snippets from an article ‘Taking a tic
for Tourette’s’ which explains what Tourette’s is:
ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Tourette Syndrome affects about 1 in 500 Australians and is a neurological disorder that lasts for life — there is no known cure for it. Tourette Syndrome is characterised by a number of rapid and involuntary muscle movements and vocal actions called tics. Awareness, understanding and acceptance are key strategies to improve the quality of life for those with TS. Tourette Syndrome is not defined as someone who swears. This tic is called Coprolalia and is only experienced by 10-15 per cent of those who have TS. TS is not a rare condition, with one in every 100 children affected. The best way to improve the lives of Tourette Syndrome sufferers and their families is to get the word out there to enable community knowledge, education and acceptance. TS is nothing to be ashamed of, it is the same as having asthma or diabetes in that it is an inherited physical condition.

SPORTS NEWS
CANTEEN NEWS
In line with the new timetable changes, all canteen baskets from the classroom are taken straight to the Canteen by 9.15am. Due to the fact that lunch orders are now collected from the Canteen at 11.40am, no lunch orders will be accepted after 9.45am.
Teachers will always ask if anyone has a lunch order to be placed in the basket first thing in the morning, but if your child forgets and wants to put it in after 9.45am, the canteen will not be able to take the lunch order.
To support our new timetable changes that commenced last week, we will no longer be opening the Canteen for afternoon recess sales. The canteen will still remain open for lunch (11.52am) Monday, Thursday and Friday, but will not be open for recess in the afternoons (2.18pm).
SPORTS NEWS
Ride2School Day!
On Wednesday we had a fantastic turn out for National Ride2School Day! Around 100 students (and their parents) rode their bikes to school. What a great way to start the day. The turn out was much greater than last year and led to a very full bike shed! Well done to everyone who made the effort and participated!
Is this your Bike?
With so many bikes in the bike shed on Ride2School
Day there was bound to be two exactly the same!
A student believes his bike was mistakenly taken as
there was one the same as his and his was gone by
the time he arrived at the bike shed.
This is a picture of the bike that was left behind.
The student says his bike had a bit more rust on the
handlebars and his seat was up higher.
If you believe you have made this mistake can you
please contact Miss Conway and we can arrange to
swap them over!
Thanks.

EASTER RAFFLE TICKETS
Easter raffle tickets have now been sent home with the
youngest child. There are 20 tickets in a book and they are
$1 each. If you require more ticket books, please ask the
girls in the office. We made up some amazing baskets last
year and with all the lovely donations we were able to
make up lots of baskets, so don’t miss out. We are still
looking for Easter Egg Donations. The more eggs we
get, the more baskets we can make up and of course
the better chance you have of winning one.
Recruit a New School Week
Do you or a family member know someone who attends a school that does not have The Act of Kindness? Your job this week is to tell them about the program so they can become a member. For more information please visit the following link: http://www.theactofkindness.org.au/ or contact Mr Zarb on 9772 4011.

To coincide with our Easter Bonnet Parade Wednesday 2nd April, we will be holding a Free Dress Day for all students in

Booking are essential as places are limited
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn more about how young people have fun online, how you can help them to stay in control on the net, and how to report a problem. To make it possible for all to attend we are offering babysitting for school aged children but places will be limited.
