Heritage is under increasing threat

• To promote conservation of the Asia-Pacific

region's built heritage by encouraging involvement

of the private sector.

• To advocate the culture of conservation through

use of appropriate conservation techniques

and approaches.

• To catalyze additional projects within the

community, by giving due recognition to best

practice examples.

• The Award recognizes the quality of the

conservation process, rather than the intrinsic

values of the site

Since 2000, 562 project submissions were received from 24 countries in

the Asia-Pacific. UNESCO has awarded 174 projects within the

conservation category and 9 projects for the Award for New Design in

Heritage Contexts
