Unemployment rate- percentage of the unemployed out of the workforce or working population. There are varied causes of unemployment which can be roughly divided into 3 major types:a. Unemployment caused by shortage in demand or cyclical unemploymentb. Unemployment caused by changes in demand modelsc. Unemployment caused by supply also known as natural unemployment

Involuntary unemployment: unemployment caused by workers who are not able to find paid jobs, in spite of being prepared to work at the prevailing wage level, because there are not enough available jobs due to the recession or because they are undertrained for the jobs they are offered

Unemployment compensation (1) a sum of money, cash or in other forms, which allows unemployed people to insure the minimum standard of living until they get a new paid job. In many countries, hired workers pay the contributions for social insurance to the government in exchange for the right to unemployment compensation (see government expenditure, social insurances)(2) allowance given to the unemployed, smaller than the salary, which, on one hand, serves the purpose of insuring them the minimum standard of living and on the other hand, determines them to get a new job.
