    Instrumentation and Monitoring

    17

    Monitoring of private properties along the FirstStreet tunnel alignment and outside construction

    staging areas has ceased because data as beenstable for more than three months

    Upon completion, SKJD will contact homeowners toschedule removal of the instrumentation and

    monitoring devices and restoration; you need notbe present for this operation

    The freeze process is shut off at all locations, andwe are continuing to monitor the freeze-thaw data

    Instrumentation device installed.

    What to Expect in Coming Months

    Heavy construction will continue, including surface activities,

    concrete deliveries, and the removal of the top of secant

    piles around drop shafts and diversion chambers

    Near surface structures and the tunnel will be operational by

    July 2016

    Landscaping and restoration will follow after the project isoperational: June ‒ July 2016

    Coordination of the Small Diameter Water Main project and

    the First Street Tunnel project will occur in August 2016

    What to Expect in Coming Months, continued 

    Completion dates are defined as:

    Substantial Completion (July 2016): Completion of the pumping

    station and all near surface structures, so that the system isoperational

    Final Completion (Sept 2016): Work remaining after substantialcompletion includes the removal and restoration of the freeze trench

    and street restoration and landscaping at the CSAs and APAs. Thediversion chamber and ventilation control vault at the ChanningStreet CSA will also be completed.

    Small DiameterWater Main Project Schedule

    The Small Diameter Water Main project has been coordinated with

    DC Water’s engineering department over the past year 

    DC Water is acquiring permits for the proposed Bloomingdale water

    main work

    The project was advertised in April 2016

    The contract will be awarded in June 2016

    The project will start in August 2016

    Shuttle Service Has BeenReplaced with Uber 

    The First Street Tunnel team has replaced the shuttle van

    service because requests have been and continue to be

    extremely low

    Now using Uber as an alternative to the shuttle buses

    We will continue to offer 24/7 neighborhood transportation

    Call the FST Hotline at 1-844-FST-INFO (1-844-378-4636)

    and press 1 for shuttle service

    We will dispatch an Uber driver

    FEMS Door Mural Giveaways

    We will be dismantling the Adams and Flagler CSA inphases, and we have provided the homeowners who reside

    near the CSA with the opportunity to retain the door for theirpersonal use

    Those who responded approvingly to our door giveawayrequest will receive the requested door when the CSA gets

    smaller or is dismantled

    Skanska will place the door near the gate on their privateproperty; the doors will be provided as-is

    If the door is not wanted by the homeowner, DC Water willstore it at the project site office and discuss with communityand Tunnel Forum members alternative uses
