P2Joints

There are 3 classifications of joints - DESCRIBE each type of joint and give an example of where they can be found in the skeleton

Classification Definition Location

Fixed

Slightly Moveable

Freely Moveable

(Synovial)

IDENTIFY examples of where these types of SYNOVIAL joint can be found in the body

M1Movements at Synovial Joints

For the 3 activities below, IDENTIFY the major synovial joints and bones that are directly involved.

EXPLAIN what type of movement occurs at each joint in the table below (e.g, flexion)

Muscle Classification

LABEL the muscles on the anterior (front) aspect and type them in to the corresponding boxes

The muscles must be spelled correctly to achieve the criteria

P4Muscle Types

Muscles can be categorised according to their characteristics and what jobs they do.

In the boxes below, DESCRIBE the 3 types of muscles and provide examples of where you find them in the body

Muscle Type 1: Cardiac Muscle

Muscle Type 2: Smooth (involuntary)

Muscle Type 3: Skeletal Muscle (voluntary)

Muscle Movement, Antagonistic PairsThe skeleton and muscles work together to produce movement (musculoskeletal system).

There are 2 key roles that muscles can play in a movement;

- the Prime mover/Agonist and the Antagonist.

Use the table below to DESCRIBE the movement that occurs during a bicep curl

Agonistic Movement

Antagonistic Movement

M2 Muscular Contraction

There are 3 types of muscular contraction which are needed to produce movement.

DESCRIBE each type of muscular contraction in the table below and give a sporting example of when these contractions might occur.

Isometric contraction

Isotonic concentric contraction

Isotonic eccentric contraction
