NAPLAN Parent/carer consent for exemption and withdrawal In May 2019 the National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) will be completed by all students in Years 3,5,7 and 9. NAPLAN will assess the literacy and numeracy learning of students in all Australian schools. The results of the tests will provide important information to schools about what each student can do and will be used to support teaching and learning programs. Parents will recieve a report indicating their childs level of achievement and will be able to compare their child's perfromance against the national minimum standard. Consideration for exemption can be given to students: * newly arrived in Australia (less than a year before the tests) and with a language background other than English, or * with significant intellectual disability and/or significant co-existing conditions that severely limit their capacity to participate in the tests. Exemption must be discussed with the principal. Students may also be withdrawn from the tests at the request of the parent/carer. Parents/carers who require their child to be exempted/withdrawn from NAPLAN must sign a consent form by the 3rd of May.

Burrendong Excursion What a fantastic time the students and teachers had last week on our Burrendong Camp. It was wonderful watching students tackle their fears and push themselves to accomplish different challenges. Students worked together to climb the high ropes, grass ski down a slope, tackle the orienteering course, solve some tricky rope problems and serve and clean up while on kitchen duty. The highlight for me was the way CVPS students conducted themselves. They were polite, listened, and allowed the adults on camp to help them solve problems. Congratulations to all the students and their families. What a great bunch of young people. I am very proud of you all. Ms da Roza

Summer to Winter Kids The current group of Garden Club kids are getting the hang of what needs to be done to grow plants and food. How to recognise good and bad soil, how to improve it and identifying different types of plants and how they grow. These students will continue every Friday lunchtime until the end of Term 2, which means they follow the lifecycle of different plants from Summer through to Winter. Term 3 and Term 4 will see a new group of Cudgee kids take part in Garden Club, these students will be harvesting Winter crops and getting ready for Summer. Grandparents, carers and parents are most welcome to come and join in the Friday garden sessions or help make the garden lovely any other time. Get in touch via the FB page - CVPS Kitchen Garden.
