Activities I served as the fabrication captain of the Oregon State University team for the 2006 ASCE Steel Bridge Competition, overseeing the construction and welding of the 1:50 scale model of a steel bridge. The bridge measured 25 feet in length and 6 feet in height. I spent many hours doing much of the work myself, as well as training the student volunteers to be welders and fabricators. Also, take note that I was heavily involved in the design process of this project to weigh in on constructability. I arranged, through contacts of my own, a donation by local companies for the sandblasting and powder-coating of the bridge with OSU school colors. Our team received an award for first place in aesthetics, third place award for stiffness, and sixth place overall at the regional conference that included 15 Universities in the Northwestern United States and Canada.
