Dear Frazer Family,
What does fall mean? While some may think of fall as the season for football, at Frazer we’re going to be getting used to another kind of season: the season of “Followership.” Followership means the commitments, disciplines, and relationships we build into our life to equip us to follow Jesus—to imitate him, copy him, become like him in every way. Followership is what Frazer is all about.
The fruits of followership include love, joy, peace, service, giving, missions, transformed relationships, and a changed world. However, the roots of followership lie in discipleship. We must be nurtured in the Word of God through personal Bible
reading and reflection, careful study, and application together with a community of believers.
This booklet exists to direct you to the resources that can help you follow Jesus: a personal daily Bible reading plan (p. 4), and Bible study classes for children, students, men, women, singles and couples of all ages. Let me draw your attention to a couple of important new additions:
essentials Class: • designed as a follow-up to our STEP classes for new members, these sessions walk through the fundamentals of the faith. Perfect for new believers, or long-time church members looking for a fresh start in a genuine walk with Christ.
KingDom Culture: • we’ve relaunched our ministry for college students and young adults (18-25) under the name Kingdom Culture, led by Frazer native Patrick Craig. See page 10.
Gone are the days (if they ever were) when we could count on popular culture to direct us in the steps of following Jesus. Today we live in a society increasingly opposed to biblical principles and decreasingly marked by Christian values and character. Yet we are not without hope. God responds to the prayers of His people for revival. He sends His Spirit to renew His Church. However, to see the change, we must become the change. Revival begins not with a nation or a city, or even a church; it begins with individual believers recommitting themselves to taking up the cross daily and following Jesus.

What version should I read?The Bible was written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek, so it must be translated into English. One way to do this is “literal,” or word-for-word translation; another way is “paraphrase,” or thought-for-thought. Most translations fall somewhere in-between.
Versions that try to combine the best of both paraphrase and literal translation include the New International Version (NIV) and New Living Translation (NLT).
paraphrase versions may be easier to under-stand or may capture more of the emotion of the Biblical writer. This makes them good for devotional use and for beginners. Examples are the Contemporary English Version (CEV) and The Message (MSG).
More literal translations, on the other hand, may be more accurate and precise, mak-ing them good for in-depth study and more experienced readers. Examples are the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) and the New American Standard Version (NASB).
What about the old King James Version? It is a beautiful work of art, although English
has changed so much since 1611 that most readers find it almost as difficult as a foreign language. The New King James Version (NKJV) is an attempt to modernize it that is considered almost as literal as the NRSV and NASB.
Remember that, whatever version you use, translation is only one part of understanding the Bible. The more important part is giving full attention to what you read, and being open to allow the Holy Spirit to teach you not only what the Bible says, but what He wants you to do about it.

Wednesday nights are available to all middle and high school students! Each Wednesday we create an environment that is welcoming to students who go to church regularly and who have never set foot in a church building. We want Crave Wednesdays to be a place where students can come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior. A typical evening includes a time of worship, games, and a teaching that will help students in their daily life.
For our middle school students, here is the Wednesday night schedule:
5:00-5:45 p.m. — Open Gym
5:30-6:00 p.m. — Pizza Dinner in the JEMAC
6:00-7:15 p.m. — Crave Wednesday in the Crave Room

High school students will meet in Crave HomeGroups from 6:00-7:15 p.m. for a time of fellowship and teaching. Crave HomeGroups are divided based on grade. All 9th & 10th grade students will be at one home, and our 11th and 12th grade students will meet together at another. Transportation to & from Frazer is available for any high school student. The bus leaves no later than 5:45PM and will return no later than 7:30PM.*

Wednesday night Bible study – the Miracles of Jesus
Beginning September 5, join Dr. Neil Epler in the Fellowship Hall as we share a study on the miracles of Jesus. We will look at the healing miracles as well as the resurrection miracles and miracles over nature. We will be exploring the context of each miracle and its significance in His ministry and in defining the Kingdom of God. Financial peace University by Dave ramsey
Financial Peace University is a 10 week course that provides everything you need to become debt-free and then live that way for the rest of your life. Additionally, all other factors affecting your financial life are covered in detail (how to plan for retirement, how to invest, buying and selling a home, how to save for college, how to obtain the right insurance, etc.). Each week an entertaining and educational DVD video is presented by Dave Ramsey followed by a discussion of the topic. Registration begins Sunday, August 19th and ends Sunday, September 2nd. During this time, Registration Forms will be available at the Atrium Information Desk or in the Church Office. Classes begin Wednesday, September 5th. The cost is $99 per family/single, which is the cost paid by the church. It covers all course materials which include a workbook with each session’s lesson, financial software, and a complete set of CD’s containing the audio of the series. Kingdom culture: Bible study (college & Young adult)
Through guided teaching and round table discussions, our Sunday morning Bible Study focuses on Kingdom living: how to live on earth as citizens of the Kingdom of God. As we walk verse-by-verse through scripture we will discuss practical ways in which we can grow in our love for God and display God’s love to the world both individually and together.

This class of singles (30s-40s) study, discuss, and pray selected scripture in order to discover how God’s word and spirit, working together, can equip each individual to face life’s situations as well as succeed to do His will. Jonathan and Terry Drisko are the teachers.

Couples ages 35-65 longing for the meat of God’s Word will find much to chew on in this discussion-based class. Read the Bible for Life by George Guthrie will be the kick-off material. Some weekly preparation will be required for members to have a “steak” in class discussion. Bob and Beth Crittenden are the facilitators.

The quirky crew of Samurai Love Tank is composed of singles and couples in their 20’s and 30’s. Their mission is to wield the Full Armor of God as they mobilize to share Christ’s love with each other and with everyone they meet. The crew discusses the sermon topic of the day, as well as materials provided by the church. Matt Williams

Are you between the ages of 18 and 40? Join Charles Hall and John Morris in a great opportunity to grow spiritually with other young men. Classes will consist of a short lecture followed by discussion.
Life GroupsDoing liFe together
Life Groups are small groups of adults who meet regularly for Bible study, fellowship and service, and to challenge each other to be more like Jesus. Life Groups are similar to Sunday School classes with the main difference being that Life Groups can meet anytime and any place other than Sunday morning. Life Groups often meet in homes.
Being part of a Life Group is an excellent way to get plugged in to God’s Word and grow with other believers. Life Groups also offer an alternative for those whose schedules may keep them from being part of a group that meets on Sunday mornings.
