Cher(e)s ami(e)s,

Dear friends,
It is my pleasure to welcome all of you, on behalf of Saint Joseph University of Beirut, to this special conference-workshop on Child Protection, at the Campus of Medical Sciences, on February 7th and 8th 2019. This conference is in line with Saint Joseph University visions and missions. The objectives of this conference-workshop (thinking-space and awareness raising, pooling of expertise and resources), are to bring together the following 3 dimensions:
1. The levels of prevention of violence on children: primary, secondary and tertiary.
2. The professional sectors in child care and protection: health, education, legal and social, in addition to religious and spiritual leadership, participation of informal civil society, youth, as well as the media and information and communication technologies.
3. The areas of practice and expertise: legislation and legal framework, research and knowledge, multidisciplinary professional training, family information and societal education, program evaluation and policy adjustments.
The WHO INSPIRE strategies are presented as a framework for the implementation of these 3 dimensions. This conference-workshop is hosted by Saint Joseph University of Beirut and co-organized with the Jesuit Congregation, the Child Protection Center at the Gregorian University and the Missio-Aachen Institute, in collaboration with international and national bodies. The protection of childhood is a permanent duty, as well as a perpetual mission, even more in challenging times and hardships on childhood in our region. Saint Joseph University of Beirut invites all professional expertise it embraces, as well as the experiences and resources at national level, to make this important meeting a strategic workshop for thinking and acting in favor of children, who expect from us a significant contribution to the sustainable development goals.Once again, thank you for your commitment and contributions to the success of this joint work for children.
