• Each show is approximately one hour long.• Appropriate for children ages 4 and up.• Come early for young audience members to participate in crafts before each show until 20 minutes past the hour.• Sing the “Summer Stage” song before the show with cast members.• Meet and greet the performers after each show!• Free babysitting for young family members who may find it challenging to sit through the entire show.

Mainstage represents the very best of Summer Stage where we pull out all the stops and guarantee that every audience member will be thoroughly entertained. Professional quality productions with full orchestra and performers up to the age of 28, our Mainstage show will thrill anyone who appreciates musical theater. Mainstage 2016 is Nice Work if You Can Get It, the recent Broadway celebration of all things Gershwin starring Matthew Broderick. Performances take place on July 29, 30, August 5, 6 at 7:30 pm and August 6 at 1:30 pm.

Recently nominated for a Tony Award for “Best Musical” on Broadway, and starring Matthew Broderick and Kelli O’Hara, this high-stepping musical celebrates everything Gershwin! It’s a sparkling tale that combines laughter, romance and high-stepping dance numbers for an evening bursting with girls, glamour and glorious Gershwin songs including “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off,” “I’ve Got a Crush on You” and “Someone to Watch Over Me.”Join the party with a cast of outrageous characters who gather in NYC to celebrate the wedding of a wealthy playboy whose world is suddenly turned upside down by bootleggers, rum-runners and golddiggers!

FUN-FILLED CHILDREN’S MUSICALS!

We’re kicking off our season with an exciting musical concert featuring everyone’s favorite Disney heroes and princesses in songs and dances from the latest Disney movies and Broadway hits! Aladdin, Simba, Elsa, Ariel all have their moments onstage in this medley of great Disney music that celebrates the heroes and princesses we meet every day. The grand finale brings together all our characters as they defeat a fiery dragon!

For the first time in Children’s Theater we present one of the most captivating musical shows of our time adapted for young people. Bye, Bye, Birdie is the hilarious story of a rock-and-roll singer who is about to be inducted into the army, and his appearance wreaks havoc in a small town of teenage fans. This is a wonderful introduction for children to Broadway, the fun of the 1960s and a trip down memory lane for parents and grandparents!

It’s Christmas in July with this Summer Stage premiere! Based on the beloved film, this hilarious fish-out-of-water comedy follows Buddy the Elf on his quest to find his true identity. Elf, Jr. is a kid friendly, shortened version of the modern day classic with lots of toe-tapping songs and dance numbers including “Sparkleyjollytwinklejingley.” Join Buddy on his journey from the North Pole to NYC and cool off this summer!

Another premiere for Summer Stage! Based on Roald Dahl’s classic story, this show is a brand new take on Dahl’s “masterpeach” of a tale. When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way. Catchy new music completes the madcap adventures.

Travel back to the legendary, story-telling days of ancient China with this action-packed stage adaptation of Disney’s Oscar-nominated animated film, Mulan. The Huns have invaded, and it is up to the misfit Mulan and her mischievous sidekick Mushu to save the Emperor! Can Mulan save all of China with her clever plan? Mulan, Jr. is a heartwarming celebration of culture, honor and a fighting spirit. The score includes favorites like “Reflection, “ “Honor to Us All” and “I’ll Make a Man Out of You!”

The Dinosaur Musical is a madcap, jazzy prehistoric musical comedy starring colorful dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes. It’s 65 million years ago and a meteor has hit the planet Earth. The dinosaurs have survived, but dwindling food supplies force the dinosaurs to work together to put a meal on the table. Throw in a “Parent Trap” subplot, some crazy comedy, an erupting volcano and the invention of spaghetti and we have an unforgettable adventure for all ages!
