COLLEGE PROFILE

Sree Anantha Padmanabha Arts, Science & commerce college, was established in the year 1968 at Vikarabad in the Hyderabad district of Telangana Region, the then Ranga Reddy District.

In the year 1965, ‘THE VIKAS MANDALI’ was formed under

the Chairmanship of Late Dr. M. Channa Reddy. This organization

was started with lofty ideals with donations raised from the farmers

and the local business men. The College was inaugurated by Late Sri.

Brahmananda Reddy the former Chief Minister of A.P.

The services rendered to the development of the College by the

then Hyderabad District Zilla Parishad Chairman Late Sri. M. Bhoji

Reddy and the then District Collector Sri. Shravan Kumar IAS, the

Secretaries of Managing Committee Sri. Srinivasan, Late Sri. Mudda

Veeramallappa, Late Sri A. Lal Reddy are praiseworthy. This college

started with the encouragement of the local elite on a spacious area of

40 acres, was admitted into Grant-in-aid in 1972. The College is

receiving the salaries of the staff from the State Govt. and the

development grants from the UGC.

The parent body of the College is VIKAS MANDALI,

VIKARABAD. A voluntary association, established in the year 1965 by

late Dr. Marri Channa Reddy, former Governor of Tamil Nadu,

founder chairman to bring about amelioration of the people of this

backward area in Social and Educational aspects.

The college is managed by a Managing Committee, appointed

by VIKAS MANDALI, VIKARABAD, presently it is headed by

Sri M.Shashidhar Reddy, is the Chairman of the Managing Committee

and Sri. M. Ravindra Reddy is the President of the Vikas Mandali and

Secretary & Correspondent of the Managing Committee.

The college is affiliated to Osmania University and a permanent

affiliation has been accorded in the year vide Lr. No.

2266H/1143/69/Acad, dt: 05:07:1988.

The College is identified under sections 2(f) & 12 B of the UGC

Act, 1956 and the college is a multi-faculty institution offering

instruction in both the media, Telugu & English at Degree level in

addition to PG in Commerce and Mathematics.

The College has been assessed and accredited by the

NAAC(National Assessment and Accreditation Council) with B++

Grade in the month of March,2007 and Re-accredited in the month of

October, 2013 with B Grade status.

The College is located in a campus of 40 acres, healthily

away from the town. The College has its own building comprising of

40 class rooms, 12 laboratories, 8 Store Rooms, 5 Library Rooms,

Games Room, Gymnasium, Girls’ waiting room and canteen rooms.

There is a separate block comprising the Chairman’s chamber,

Conference Hall, Principal’s chamber, Office, 3 staff rooms, NSS

Room, NCC Room and Scholarships Room. An Air-cooled Seminar

Hall with all modern amenities such as LCD Projector, A.V.

equipment is provided for conducting Extension Lectures, Staff

Meetings, Literary and Cultural competitions. Automation of office is

under process to get quick information regarding every student fee

details etc.

The college was started with PUC in the year 1968 with a

meagre strength of 140 students. The present strength of the college is

about 1728. Today, the College has on its aquittance roll 12 permanent

Teaching Staff, 13 Non-Teaching Staff, Besides 40 Part-time Lecturers

and 40 Part-time Non-Teaching Staff.

The College has been rendering exemplary service to this

backward area by providing the hitherto lacking avenue of Higher

Education. It may not be out of place here to mention that our former

students are working as Doctors, Engineers, Advocates, Judges,

Principals, Teaching and Public Representatives and also working in

different positions and some of our students have joined as regular

staff members and another fifteen are working as Part-time Lecturers.

Our staff members have pursued their major and minor research work

with the UGC assistance. Five members have been awarded ‘ State

Level Best Teacher Awards’ by the then Government of Andhra

Pradesh in recognition of distinguished service as teachers under the

State Awards to meritorious teachers.

In Connection with Silver Jubilee Celebrations year of the

College the PG courses in Commerce and Mathematics were started

during the year 1993-94, fulfilling the long cherished desire of the

people of this area. The foundation for the construction of Canteen,

Administrative building, Gymnasium and Class Rooms were laid

down during Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the College and the

construction of all the buildings comprising nearly 46000 SFT was

completed by the Management to provide better accommodation for

the students. At present the College is running in single shift.

Besides academic education, co-curricular activities are also

being pursued effectively. The College has three NCC Companies

including Girls Unit introduced in the year 2001. Our Cadets have

participated in the Republic Day Parades at New Delhi, have achieved

distinction in different areas of NCC, such as Parachute Training,

Army Attachment Course. Blood Donation Camps are conducted to

mark the NCC Day Celebrations. The College bagged the Best

Institution Award in the year 1988 by the Directorate of NCC,

Secunderabad. One of the girl cadets attended Republic Day Camp –

2011 at New Delhi and she was selected for Youth Exchange

Programme.

The College has five NSS units which are taking up different

activities of Social Service in the adopted villages of Vikarabad

Mandal. Our NSS Volunteers represented Osmania University at

Ganga Cleaning Camp in 1987 at Varanasi and were awarded as the

Best Contingent among 13 participating Universities, for the service

rendered. They took up Mass Literacy Programme in nearly 25

villages of Vikarabad mandal. One of the girl Volunteers participated

in the Republic Day at New Delhi in the year 2010.

In the month of September, 1994 a National Integration Camp

was conducted at our college in which 16 Universities with 200

Volunteers participated. The Camp was sponsored by Ministry of

Human Resource Development and Department of Youth Affairs and

Sports, Government of India.

In the area of Physical Education the college has been equipping

itself creditably. The campus has a spacious play ground where in out

door games are played and coaching has been imparted. Our students

have represented the University Team in Volley Ball, Cross Country

Race etc.

The Management Committee of the college is striving to achieve

the main object, i.e., providing higher education to students of this

backward area of Vikarabad District.

We got permission from Telangana State Council for Higher

Education (TSCHE) to start New courses i.e., B.Sc M.P.G (Geology)

and B.Com. (Honors) from this current academic year i.e., 2018-19. In

addition to that we got permission for additional sections in 3 existing

courses, and the Commissioner of Collegiate Education allotted two

courses in BA i.e., BA H.P.PA and H.E.PA for the academic year 2018-

19.

MISSION OF THE INSTITUTION

★ MISSION OF THE INSTITUTION

★ To be a premier institution that offers better quality of teaching and imparting

Higher Education to the students of this backward area of Vikarabad District.

★ To produce students who excel and become leaders in their chosen profession,

contributing to community, the nation and the world.

★ To prepare individuals of the highest moral fibre.

OBJECTIVES OF THE INSTITUTION

1. To impart Higher Education to the students of this backward rural area of

Vikarabad Dist.

2. To bring about amelioration of the people of this backward area in Social and

Educational aspects.

3. To provide all the facilities to the students for their overall development physical,

moral and intellectual, and involving them in Nation Building activities like NCC,

NSS etc.

GENERAL RULES

1. Every student should carry his/her Identity/Campus Card daily.

2. When a student joins the college, it is assumed that the he/she accepts an obligation

to abide by the rules in force.

3. Students should refrain from loitering in the corridors or standing in the verandahs

during working hours. The leisure periods may be utilized in the Library or Reading

Room.

4. A student is expected to behave decently with all members of the teaching staff,

office staff and all supporting staff.

5. The student wh o absent the college for more than fifteen days continuously

without leave will be removed from the rolls without any intimation.

6. Students who are granted admission will be required to pay the entire College fee of

the year in advance. Otherwise, they will not be allowed to attend the classes and

their examination forms will not be forwarded to the University and they are not allowed

to write the Annual Examinations.

7. Students falling short of 75% attendance are not eligible for Scholarships. 8. Every student must put in a minimum of 75% attendance to be eligible to appear for

the University Examination as per the University rules.

EXAMINATIONS 1. Internal Assessment Test conducted as per the University Almanac for I, II, III & IV.

Sem.

1 Monthly tests will be conducted in each subject and all the students must attend for

these tests. The students those who are irregular to the college and not writing the

tests, their parents will be summoned to the college and the matter will be discussed

with them, the action will be taken accordingly.

2 A record of the students marks will be maintained in each Department and the students

are instructed to improve their performance by providing proper guidance.

Promotion in the Annual Examination

1. From I year to II year : A student who has passed a regular course of study in the I

year is eligible for promotion to the II year with a backlog not exceeding 50% of all

papers.

2. From II year to III year: A student who has passed a regular course of study in the I

year and II year with a backlog of four papers in the I year and II year put together, is

eligible for promotion to the final year.

Improvement

A student is eligible to appear for the improvement provided: 1. He/she has passed in all the papers in one attempt only.

2. He/she has passed the examination in March/April, and then he/she should write the

improvement only in the supplementary examination.

Computers : The College has four well-established Computer Laboratories. These provide

training in Computer classes at the Undergraduate, Postgraduate levels. Internet facility is

also available. We provide short term training for the faculty.

Research : A research laboratory is established in the Department of Chemistry. Two scholars are awarded Ph.D.

LIBRARY

The Library plays an important role in teaching and learning process. Our college

library is accommodated in a spacious hall measuring 4500 sft with stacks, reference

and reading rooms. It has a collection of 19000 volumes covering all subjects and different

languages.

The library has very useful Reference Books covering all competitive

Examinations.

Important Library Rules

★ A student can borrow two books at a time for a period of 15 days.

★ When books are lost by any student, the present cost of the book is collected from the

students.

★ Reference books and Journals are not issued to the students for home reading.

★ Students will not be allowed to keep the books with them during the vacation. The

books should be returned before the commencement of the examinations. However if

they want to keep the book during the examinations double the cost of the book is kept

as deposit until the last exam is over.

★ Marking and scribbling on books is strictly forbidden. If the book is damaged it should

be replaced at once together with fine.

★ If the book is damaged, the cost of the book is collected.

Career Guidance Cell

Journals and Magazines and previous question papers are made available for

reading. The students on production of Identity Card will be permitted to enter the Cell.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

The College provides facilities for all popular indoor and outdoor games and sports.

Well equipped gymnasium can be availed for attaining high standard of efficiency and to

inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship and to develop character. An advisory Committee is

nominated from the staff members by the Principal to advise and guide in conducting

of Games and Sports activities.

★ The Games and Sports activities will be conducted before and after the college

teaching hours.

★ At the end of academic year, Intramurals will be conducted for all students.

★ Facilities are provided to participate in Inter-Collegiate Tournaments in selected

disciplines.

★ Eligible students/teams will be encouraged to participate in Inter-University

Tournaments by providing sports kit and uniform.

★ Physical Fitness Camps will be conducted for college teams to participate in

Inter Collegiate Tournaments conducted by the Osmania University.

★ Multi-Gym facilities are provided to all the students.

★ Cash awards will be given to outstanding players who represent District and University

Level Tournaments.
