カルガリー空港に到着した。ロッキー山脈の玄関口は、意外なことに台地の真ん中だった。
モントリオールとの時差2時間、国内の移動なのに、どこか異国に到着した感がずっと付きまとっていた。なだらかな台地に密集して建っている家屋は、この街が急速に発展したのを物語っている。モントリオールの街を覆うように茂る楓の街路樹や、教会の塔も見当たらない。
そんな違和感を抱きながら車窓からの景色を眺めていると、それまでの風景が一転して、前方から灰色の山並みが迫ってきた。山の中腹から頂上にかけて樹木が全く生えていない岩山が、遠くまで連なっているのが見えてくる。カナディアン･ロッキー山脈の登場だ。自分のいる地点が既に1500ｍほどなので、周囲の山がそれほど高いとは感じないのだが、山頂にはところどころ残雪や氷河が残り、むき出しになった地層は、明らかに東側とは異なったダイナミックさを見せ付けてくれている。
国立公園のゲートを通り抜けて、車はバンフの街に到着する。
メイン・ストリートの背景には綺麗な三角形の形をした標高2998mの山、カスケート・マウンテンがそびえ立つ。晴天の青空に映える山の雄姿がすばらしい。観光客相手と言えどもレストランの質は高く、なによりも、本場のアルバータ牛がこの山奥で堪能できるのがうれしい。ご存知のように、アルバータ州は州税がないので、ついつい財布の紐も緩み、モントリオールでも買えるようなものまで買い求めてしまう。
バンフ在住の友人が、｢ここに住んでいる日本人は、結構、面白い経歴の持ち主が多くて、世界の五名峰を制覇した人や、岩山登山で、ロープが外れて宙吊り状態となり2日後にやっと救助されて九死に一生を得た人や、北極圏1000キロを自転車で走った人、先住民の居留区に住んで動物の皮剥ぎが趣味という絶美人もいるんだよ｣と教えてくれた。
翌日は、ちょっと遠出をして「カナディアン・ロッキーの宝石」と称されるレイク・ルイーズまで。湖の正面に見えるのがビクトリア山とビクトリア氷河。湖畔に佇むホテル、シャトー・レイク・ルイーズは、バンフ・スプリングス・ホテルと共にこの地区を代表するリゾート・ホテルだ。カナディアン・ロッキーに来たのなら、ワイルドにキャンプを楽しむのもいいが、ひと昔前のブルジョワ階級の人たちのように、大自然の雄姿を、まるで自分の庭のように、時間を忘れて眺めているのも悪くない。
身体の中に淀んでいる空気を大自然から生まれた新しい空気と入れ替える、まさに地球規模のセラピーだ。

After spending 4.5 hours in the plane from Montreal I have arrived at the Calgary Airport. Surprisingly, the entrance to the Rockies was in the middle of a plateau.
The time difference is 2 hours between
Montreal and Calgary. It’s a journey within Canada but I couldn’t wipe the feeling that I’d arrived in a foreign country. The houses built closely to each other on the gently sloping plateau show how this city was constructed rapidly. You don’t see maple trees or churches covering the city here, like you see often in Montreal.
Looking at the view through the car window I was feeling a sense of disharmony, then the scenery abruptly changed and the grey mountains were suddenly advancing from the front. There are no trees growing from the middle of the mountains to the summit and the rocky mountain ranges in the distance become visible. They are the Canadian Rocky Mountains. I am at 1500 meters already, so it doesn’t look the mountains are very tall, but I see snow and glaciers on the summit, and the bare stratum is very different from the East Coast and they look very dynamic.
After going through the gates of the national park the car finally arrives at the town of Banff. In the background of the main street, the beautifully triangular shaped Cascade Mountain (2998 meters) towers over. Against the blue sky the gallant figure of the mountain shines, looking beautiful. Although they are for tourists, the restaurants nearby are of excellent quality. More than anything I’m very happy to be able to enjoy the local Alberta beef. As you know there is no provincial tax in Alberta so it was too easy for me to loosen the purse strings and buy these items which – although they are exactly the same – are more expensive in Montreal.
A friend who resides in Banff said to me, “Many of the Japanese who live here have interesting experiences. One climbed five of the most famous peaks in the world. Another was climbing the Rockies when a rope came off and he was dangling in the air for 2 days until he was finally rescued and he made a narrow escape from death. Yet another rode 1,000 km by bicycle to the Arctic Circle. And,
finally, one is a very beautiful woman who lives in a First Nations area and her hobby is to strip animal skins.”
Next day I made a little trip to Lake Louise, which is known as the “Jewel of the Canadian Rockies.” In the front of the lake there is Mount Victoria and the Victoria Glacier. Located on the shore is Chateau Lake Louise Hotel, a resort hotel famous in the area, along with the Banff Springs Hotel. Since I’m visiting the Canadian Rockies it’s natural to enjoy camping in the wild but it’s also quite enjoyable to stay in the hotel and appreciate nature from a distance, and to forget time as if in my own garden, pretending to be one of the bourgeoisie from decades ago.

Montréal, je suis enfin arrivée à l’aéroport de Calgary. Étonnamment, l’entrée des Rocheuses se trouvait au milieu d’un plateau.
Le décalage horaire est de 2 heures entre Montréal et Calgary. Même si j'étais encore au Canada, j’éprouvais quand même le sentiment d’être dans un pays étranger. Les maisons construites l’une à côté de l’autre démontrent comment cette ville a été construite rapidement. Ici, il y a très peu d’érables ou d’églises dans la ville, comme on en voit souvent à Montréal.
En regardant la vue à travers la fenêtre de la voiture, j’étais ébahi par le paysage qui changeait radicalement à l’approche des montagnes. Il n’y a pas d’arbres qui poussent à partir du milieu des montagnes jusqu’au sommet. On peut facilement voir cette démarcation de loin. Ce sont les montagnes Rocheuses canadiennes. Je suis déjà à 1500 mètres d’altitude, donc les montagnes ne semblent pas si hautes, mais je vois de la neige et les glaciers au sommet, et les strates
sont très différentes de la côte Est et ils ont l’air plus dynamique.
Après avoir traversé les portes du parc national, nous arrivons enfin à la ville de Banff. Au bout de la rue principale, on peut voir au loin la merveilleuse forme triangulaire de la Cascade Mountain (2998 mètres) qui domine l'horizon. Avec le ciel bleu comme toile de fond, la noble silhouette de cette montagne brille de toute sa beauté. Bien qu’ils soient touristiques, les restaurants à proximité sont d’excellentes qualités. Plus que tout, je suis très heureuse de pouvoir profiter de la viande locale d’Alberta. Comme vous le savez, il n’y a pas de taxe provinciale ici, donc il était pour moi facile de desserrer les cordons de ma bourse et d’acheter ces articles qui - même s'ils sont exactement les mêmes - sont plus chers à Montréal.
Un ami qui habite à Banff m’a dit: «Beaucoup de Japonais qui vivent ici ont des expériences intéressantes. L’un d’eux a grimpé cinq des sommets les plus célèbres dans le monde. Un autre qui escaladait les Rocheuses est resté coincé dans les airs pendant 2 jours alors que sa corde a rompu. Il a finalement été sauvé et il a échappé de justesse à la mort. Un autre a roulé 1,000 km en vélo jusqu’au cercle polaire arctique. Enfin, il y une femme très belle qui vit dans une réserve autochtone et dont le passe-temps est de dépouiller les peaux d’animaux ».
Le lendemain, j’ai fait un petit voyage au Lac Louise, qui est connu comme le «Joyau des Rocheuses canadiennes». Devant le lac, se dressent le mont Victoria et le glacier Victoria. Situé sur la rive, le Chateau Lake Louise Hotel, est un hôtel de villégiature célèbre dans la région, tout comme le Banff Springs Hotel. Comme je suis en visite dans les Rocheuses canadiennes, il est naturel de faire du camping dans la nature, mais c’est aussi très agréable de séjourner à l’hôtel et apprécier la nature d’une certaine distance et d’oublier le temps comme si j’étais dans mon propre jardin.

セーヌ川沿いに西へ行くこと約２時間、イギリス海峡に面したノルマンディー地方にル・アーヴルの港町がある。昔からイギリスをはじめ海の交通の要所として栄えている。第２次世界大戦では壊滅的被害を受け、一部を残してほとんどの町並みが焼けてしまったという。そのせいか、古い町なのに、ヨーロッパ特有の歴史の古さが感じられない。
しかし、戦後、世界的な建築家、オーギュスト・ペレによって約20年間かけて再開発され、2005年にはその都市計画が認められて世界遺産に登録された。ヨーロッパの都市としては異質な世界遺産といえるだろう。
■印象派画家の作品が結集 「マルロー美術館」

ル・アーヴルの町の西南端、海岸のそばにひときわ目立つ建物がマルロー美術館。フランス有数の印象派コレクションを所蔵している。創設者は、ドゴール政権時代、文化相を務めていた作家アンドレ・マルローで、1961年にオープンした。なんでも第２次世界大戦で受けた市民の大きな打撃と深い悲しみを癒やすため、というのが創設のきっかけだったとか。
ブーダンの作品は200点以上所蔵されているそうだ。 そのほか、モネはもちろん、ルノワール、シスレー、デュフィ、ボナールなどフランスの近代美術を代表する画家たちの作品が展示されている。これだけの名画に囲まれれば自然と気持ちも豊かになれるというもの。
この美術館で一番うれしいのは、これだけ貴重な作品の数々が展示されているのに、重 し々さがなく、開放的な造りで、気楽に鑑賞できること。そういえば怖い目つきで見守る監視員も目立たなく、写真の撮影もフラッシュをたかなければどうぞご自由に、という大様さ。本当に市民が楽しめるように配慮されていることがうかがえる。 館内には、モネが好んだ海の風景が見えるカフェがある。

from St-Lazare station in Paris, west of Seine River on the English Channel is Normandy region’s Le Havre seaport. It has always been a bustling seaport with key routes to the sea starting with England. Nevertheless, it was devastated during World War II leaving only a portion of it and the seaport town while the rest was burnt down. Due to this, even though it is an old town it is very difficult to feel the typical old European history.
However, in the postwar era Auguste Perret, a worldwide architect, spent years reconstructing it. As a European city, it can be seen as a foreign World Heritage site.
■An extensive collection of Impressionist Paintings, Musee malraux
Seaport Le Havre is home to many of France’s impressionist painters. One of the well-known impressionist painters painting is Claude Monet’s “Impression Sunrise” which was created and inspired by Le Havre's seaside.Musee Malraux is the building that stands out by the beach on the southwest end of Le Havre town. It houses France's leading collections of impressionist paintings. Writer Andre Malraux, Minister of Culture during the De Gaulle regime, was its founder and opened it in 1961. Perhaps what triggered the museums foundation was an effort to appease the citizens who had lost everything in World War II by giving them something back. It is said that 200 of Boudin's paintings are exhibited. Other exhibited paintings include of course Monet, Renoir, Sisley,
Dufy, Bonnard and many others of France s modern age painters. Being surrounded by so many famous nature paintings is truly enriching.
The thing that is most enjoyable about this museum is that even though there is a multitude of important works of art being exhibited, there is no ponderous feeling thus you can walk around freely and light heartedly. A crucial point is the absence of frightening guards stares and you can take as many flashless pictures as you wish. Citizens really enjoy recommending it. At the café inside the museum you can see the sea view that Monet enjoyed.

gare Saint-Lazare de Paris, à l’ouest de la Seine et au bord de la Manche, se trouve le port de mer du Havre en Normandie. Ce port de mer a toujours été très animé, offrant des itinéraires maritimes incontournables, notamment ceux qui mènent en Angleterre. Le port fut néanmoins dévasté pendant la Deuxième Guerre mondiale pour ne laisser qu’une partie du port et de la ville portuaire, alors que le reste fut ravagé par les flammes. En raison de cela, il est très difficile d’y ressentir toute l’histoire typique de la vieille Europe, et ce même si la ville est ancienne.
Pendant l’Après-Guerre, Auguste Perret, architecte reconnu mondialement, a cepen-dant consacré de nombreuses années à sa reconstruction. En tant que ville européenne, Le Havre peut être considéré comme un site du patrimoine mondial de l’humanité.
■La vaste collection d’œuvres impressionnistes du musée André malraux
Le port de mer du Havre a accueilli de nombreux peintres impressionnistes français. L’une des plus célèbres œuvres impres-sionnistes, « Impression, soleil levant » de Claude Monet, a été créée sur le littoral du Havre et s’en est inspiré. Le musée Malraux sied dans un immeuble s’élevant sur la plage à la limite sud-ouest de la ville du Havre. Il accueille la plus importante collection d’œu-vres impressionnistes en France. L’écrivain André Malraux, ministre de la Culture sous De Gaulle, est le fondateur de cet établis-sement qui a ouvert ses portes en 1961. La création de ce musée a peut-être été encou-ragée par une volonté d’apaiser les citoyens, qui avaient tout perdu pendant la Deuxième Guerre mondiale, en leur rendant quelque chose. Il est dit que quelque 200 œuvres de Boudin y sont exposées. Les autres œuvres exposées comprennent des toiles de Monet, Renoir, Sisley, Dufy, Bonnard et de nombreux autres peintres français de l’ère moderne. Il est sans contredit enrichissant d’être entouré de tant d’œuvres si célèbres dépeignant la nature.
Ce qui m’a semblé le plus agréable par rap-port à ce musée est le fait qu’il est possible de s’y promener librement et spontanément; malgré la multitude d’œuvres importantes qui y sont exposées, l’atmosphère de l’établis-sement n’est pas lourde. L’un des aspects essentiels est l’absence de gardiens qui vous épient et il est possible de prendre autant de photos sans flash que désiré. Les habitants de la ville recommandent le musée avec enthousiasme. Il est également possible d’ad-mirer les mêmes vues de la mer qu’a contem-plées Monet en visitant le café du musée.

瀬戸内ー海と島のパラダイス
jpn 今年、モントリオールのファンタジア国際映画祭やトロント国際映画祭で上映された日本のアニメ映画『ももへの手紙』、観た人も多いのではないだろうか。父親を亡くし傷ついた少女ももが、東京から瀬戸内の小さな島、汐島に引越してくる。自然豊かな島で、島人たちや妖怪との出会いを通して成長する姿が描かれた映画だ。ユーモラスな妖怪が登場するなどファンタジー色の強い映画だが、実は汐島は実在する。正確に言うと、汐島は瀬戸内に実在するいくつかの島や町の景観を組み合わせて創造された、架空の島なのだ。
中国地方と四国の間に「瀬戸内海」という小さな内海がある。瀬戸内海を囲む沿岸を含む一帯を「瀬戸内」と呼ぶ。瀬戸内海をイメージしてもらうには、一般的な「海」のイメージを少し横に置いてもらおう。カナダの方には、大きな湖を想像してもらう方が近いかもしれない。
四方を高い山々に囲まれているため、波が穏やかで、台風や津波などの災害が少ない。「のたり、のたり」という形容詞がよく似合う、心なごむ海なのだ。夕暮れ時には、風がぴ
たりと止み、波が消える。海面が鏡のように平らになって、夕日に染まった島の姿を映し
出す。その姿は、まるで写真か絵画のようだ。しかし、表面上は穏やかな海でも、底流では激しい海流が流れている。そこで獲れる魚は、身が締まって繊細な味わいだ。特に小魚が美味しいことで、瀬戸内は有名だ。
もう一つの大きな特徴は、大小さまざまな島が無数に存在することだ。青い穏やかな海に、ぽかりぽかりと浮かんだ緑の無数の島々。それらの間には白く美しい橋がいくつも架かって、島から島へドライブできる。橋のない島には、周辺の島とつながる船がせわしなく行き交う。これが瀬戸内の「多島美」と呼ばれる風景だ。
これから数回に渡り、瀬戸内の島や町にスポットを当てながら、色々な物語を紹介していきたい。そして読者が日本を訪れた時、「そうだ、瀬戸内にも行ってみよう」と思ってもらえれば、こんな嬉しいことはない。

eng this year, the Fantasia international Film Festival in Montreal presented a Jap-anese anime called “a letter to Momo.” i believe many coco Montreal readers have watched it. Momo, a girl who is mourning her father’s death, leaves tokyo to move to Shiojima, a little island in the city of Setouchi. the island is rich in nature and mon-sters! the film shows the process of Momo becoming a woman as she encounters both the people and monsters that inhabit the island. Although the film has a strong element of fantasy, Shiojima is real. to be precise, Shiojima is an imaginary island created by combining several islands, towns, and scenery that exist in Setouchi.
Setouchi is made up of an area that includes Setonaikai (an inland sea between Chugoku and Shikoku) and the surrounding coast. in order to imagine Setonaikai, try to put your image of “the sea” aside. For canadians, it may be better to imagine a big lake.
Because Setouchi is surrounded by high mountains on all sides, the sea’s waves are calm, and residents experience very few natural disasters, such as typhoons or tsunamis. the sea is harmonious; the waves are smooth and undulating. During sunset, the wind stops completely and the waves disappear. the sea surface becomes flat like a mirror and reflects the island dyed by the colour of the sunset. the scene resembles a photo or a drawing. although the surface of the sea is calm, strong sea currents flow in the undercurrent. the fish that inhabit this sea have firm flesh and a delicate taste. Setouchi is especially famous for its small and tasty fish.
another great feature of this area are the numerous islands that range from big to little. Countless green islands float on the quiet, blue sea. You can see many beautiful, white bridges that connect them, allowing you to drive from one island to another. ferries travel back and forth among the islands that don’t have bridges. Scenery like this is the reason that Setouchi is called “the beauty of many islands.”
i will continue to spotlight the islands and towns of Setouchi in the next few CocoMon issues. i will be happy if you feel like going to Setouchi on your next visit to Japan.
fra Cette année, l’anime japonais « A Letter to Momo » (Une lettre à Momo) fut présenté au Festival international de films Fantasia de Montréal. Je crois que plu-sieurs des lecteurs de Coco Montréal l’ont vu. Momo, une petite fille qui fait le deuil de son père, quitte Tokyo pour s’installer à Shiojima, une petite île dans la ville de Setouchi. Cette île foisonne de nature et grouille de monstres! Le film montre l’évolution de Momo devenant femme au contact des gens et des monstres qui habi-tent l’île. Bien que ce film comporte beaucoup d’éléments fantastiques, Shiojima ex-iste réellement. Pour être plus précis, Shiojima désigne plusieurs îles, villages et pay-sages que l’on retrouve à Setouchi.
Setouchi est composé de Setonaikai, une mer intérieure située entre Chugoku et Shikoku, et ses côtes. Pour mieux se figurer cette région, essayer de mettre de côté l’image d’une « mer ». Pour les canadiens, il vaudrait mieux s’imaginer un grand lac.
Setouchi étant entouré de montagnes élevées, les vagues de la mer avancent doucement et les résidents sont rarement frappés par des désastres naturels comme des ouragans ou des tsunamis. La mer est harmonieuse ; les vagues, lisses et ondulantes. Lorsque le soleil se couche, le vent cesse net et les vagues disparaissent. La surface de la mer devient comme celle d’un miroir, reflétant l’île teinte aux couleurs du crépuscule. On dirait une photo, un dessin. Mais même si la surface de la mer est calme, des courants marins puissants circulent dans ses profondeurs. Les poissons qui y habitent ont une chair ferme au goût délicat, et Setouchi est célèbre pour ces savoureux petits poissons.
La multitude de petites et grandes îles qui composent cette région constitue une autre des ravissantes caractéristiques de Setouchi. Un nombre incalculable d’îlots sauvages, coiffés d’arbres verts, flottent sereinement sur les eaux bleues. Vous pouvez y voir plusieurs ponts blancs vous permettant de passer de l’une à l’autre en voiture. Plusieurs traversiers voyagent aller-retour aux îlots qui ne sont pas connectés par un pont. De tels paysages expliquent pourquoi on dit de Setouchi qu’elle est la « la beauté aux îles nombreuses ».

インド料理競争の激しいParc-Extension地区でも古株のMalhi Sweets Indian Cuisine は、開店から閉店までお客さんが絶えない忙しさ。
入り口には、フランスの大女優カトリーヌ・ドヌーブが来店した時の写真や各種メディア記事が飾られていて、その人気ぶりを伝えています。店内の装飾はむしろ親しみやすい雰囲気で、インドの番組が流れるテレビが据えてあり、大衆的。忙しいお店に特有のテキパキとしたサービスは、お腹を空かせて訪れた人たちを、ホッと安心させてくれます。
一番のお勧めはバターチキンカレー。インド料理に欠かせない粘土製窯のタンドーリで焼かれたチキン。そのソースは、新鮮なトマトをベースに生クリーム、にんにく、しょうが、メティ等のスパイスを長時間煮込んだもの。まろやかなコクは、香ばしい焼きたてパンのナンと最高の相性です。旨味の詰まった豆のカレーや、タマネギの甘さがバランスを取る子羊カレーもお試しあれ。辛味調整もきく豊富なメニューから一品選ぶのは至難の技。むしろグループで訪れて、色々なカレーの食べ比べをするのが、このレストランを堪能するのに向いています。
週末も昼夜オープン。「朝カレー」ならぬ「昼カレー」「夕カレー」が習慣になるかもしれませんね。À table!

actively playing on the NY Yankee team since being transferred in July. Having eaten his wife’s homemade curry every morning for 7 years, he started a “Morning Curry” boom in Japan. According to the results of an experiment, when you eat curry, the brain’s blood flow increases, helping concentration power and calculation abilities go up. Curry is an example of a typical homecooked meal in Japan; but here in Montreal, when you want to eat some tasty curry, Malhi Sweets Indian Cuisine on Jarry Street is the place you’ll want to visit.
There are many restaurants that serve Indian cuisine in the Parc-Extension area. But, the well-known Malhi Sweets Indian Cuisine is always busy with customers who come from the time the restaurant opens until it closes in the evening. If you wish to enjoy the most flavours possible, rather than going alone, I would recommend that you go in a group so that you can try a variety of curries.
Malhi Sweets Indian Cuisine is open for lunch and dinner on weekdays and weekends too. I bet it will become your habit to enjoy “Lunch Curry” or “Evening Curry” instead of Ichiro’s favourite “Morning Curry.” Dinner is ready!

Si voulez apprécier les saveurs au maximum, plutôt que d’y aller tout seul, allez-y en groupe pour pouvoir essayer toutes sortes de curry.
Melhi Sweets Indian Cuisine est ouvert pendant le dîner et le souper en semaine, ainsi que la fin de semaine. Je pari que vous aurez l’habitude d’apprécier un « curry du midi » ou un « curry du soir » au lieu d’un « curry matinal » favori d’Ichiro. Le souper est servi!

jpn個人的に、今年観た中では３本の指に入る映画だ。役者
の演技は素晴らしく、映像も美しい。ストーリーには無駄がないし、この映画を１度でも観た人は一生その存在を忘れないのではないかと言っても過言ではない。
それでも私は一部の友人にこの映画を薦めない。特に、付き合い始めや新婚のカップルには、絶対に観ないでくれと声を大にして言いたい。
既にお分かりのように、「ブルー・バレンタイン」は一組の夫婦の出会いと別れをリアルに描いた映画だ。それも、お互いに愛し合っていた、若く微笑ましい二人のシーンの後に、一緒にいることに疲れ切って罵り合う二人のシーンが挿入される、というように時間軸が巧みに交差している。ハッピーエンドで終わるラブストーリーは数多くあるが、ハッピーエンドのその後をここまで生々しく描いた映画はこれまでなかったのではないだろうか。主役の二人、ライアン・ゴズリングとミシェル・ウイリアムズはこの映画で高い評価を得ており、アカデミー賞にもノミネートされた。
ライアンが演じたディーンを慕い、別れの際「お父さんが好きなの」と泣き叫ぶ娘に「分かってるわ」と答える妻シンディ。この二人にとって、娘のためを考えたとしても、関係の修復は不可能だった。二人の愛がゆっくりと壊れていくまでの過程をこの映画は描いていないので、愛し合っていたカップルの気持ちがどうして離れてしまったのかは想像するしかない。ただ、日々の積み重ねでできた溝はいつのまにか大きくなっていき、気付いた時にはもう遅いのかもしれない。例えそれが初めは子育ての意見の食い違いや、お互いの仕事への不満などの小さい事柄だったとしても。
それでも永遠に続く愛がないなんて、私は信じたくない。付き合い始めや新婚のあなたはこの映画を観ないほうがいいが、それでも気になるならば必ず一人で観てほしい。そして、出会ったころの気持ちを忘れずに現在のパートナーを愛し続けよう、と決意を新たにしてくれることを私は心から願いたい。
engPersonnally speaking, this feature is in my top three
movies seen this year. The actors’ performance was magnificent and beautifully projected. Even if someone has only seen it once, it is not too much to say that it is an unforgettable story. Albeit, I would not recommend this movie to some of my friends; I would absolutely not recommend it to new couples. In a nutshell, “Blue Valentine” is a life-like depiction of a couple that meets, falls in love, and falls apart. Nevertheless, the cross-cutting between time axes between of a happy couple to a worn-out couple who lash out at each other is quite skillful. Even though there are many movies of love stories with happy endings; are there that many that are so vividly painted until the end? Both protagonists, Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams, have gained high reputations in this movie and were nominated for Academy Awards.
Ryan holds a deep respect for his character Dean. Cindy who is Dean’s wife plays out a poignant breakup scene where their daughter cries out “I love daddy” and she replies “I know”. Both characters thought deeply about their daughter, yet their relationship was impossible to revive. Since this film does not depict the slow process of the withering love between the couple, we are left with a feeling of wonder of why that is left to our imagination. Nevertheless, it is fact that small problems can accumulate on a day-to-day basis and grows imperceptibly, and when we notice it is too late. For example, contradicting opinions on childbearing or on smaller things like discontent with each other’s work.
Regardless, I do not want to believe that love is not eternal. To recent couples or newlyweds I recommend you not to watch this movie, but if you are still intrigued by it, I would prefer you to watch it alone. On top of that, I wish from the bottom of my heart that you will keep on loving your current partner and never forget the feelings you felt in the beginning

trois des films vus cette année. Le jeu des acteurs était admi-rable et très juste. Même après un seul visionnement, il n’est pas exagéré de dire que cette histoire est inoubliable. Toute-fois, je ne recommanderais pas ce film à certains de mes amis, et encore moins à de nouveaux couples. En un mot, «Blue Valentine» est une représentation de la vie de couple: de la rencontre, de la vie amoureuse et de la séparation. De plus, la trame narrative qui alterne entre les moments heureux avec ceux d’un couple usé, qui s’en prend l’un à l’autre, est assez habile. Les deux protagonistes, Ryan Gosling et Michelle Williams, ont acquis des réputations élevées dans ce film et ont été sélectionnés aux Oscars.
Ryan interprète avec un profond respect le personnage de Dean. Cindy, qui est l’épouse de Dean, joue une scène très émouvante de la rupture alors que leur fille crie «j’aime papa» et elle répond «je sais». Les deux personnages pensent à leur fille, mais leur relation est impossible à faire revivre. Le film relate le long processus d’une vie de couple. C’est un fait que les petits problèmes peuvent s’accumuler sur une base quotidienne, et lorsque nous le remarquons, il est souvent trop tard. Par exemple, des opinions contradictoires sur la façon d’élever les enfants ou par le mécontentement sur le travail de l’autre.
Quoi qu’il en soit, j’aime croire que l’amour peut être éternel. Pour les nouveaux couples ou les jeunes mariés, je ne vous recommande pas ce film, mais si vous êtes toujours intrigué, je vous suggère de le regarder seul. This term is used to describe unusual warm, dry and calm weather that occurs in the late autumn season that usually follows a period of colder weather. It usually happens in the Northern hemisphere between late September and Mid- October.
The term Indian Summer was coined in England in the late 18th. It actually referred to Native Indian Americans.
One of the theories states that there were some Native American raids in the early New England colonies. These raids usually took place in late autumn coinciding with a summer- like weather.
In the desert southwestern USA, the Indian Summer refers to a period of hot dry weather. It’s transition period between the hottest days and the beginning of winter rains typically in October and November.
この用語は、異常に暖かく、空気の乾いて穏やかな、秋後半の天気を表現します。通常この後、寒い天気が続きます。
インディアン・サマーは普通、９月後半と１０月半ばに、北の地域で起こります。この用語は１８世紀後半のイギリスで発祥しました。実際それは、アメリカの原住民を言及します。
