The Asian Federation of Charitable University Students (F.O.C.U.S.) is an award-winning, non-profitable, inter-university organization that is representative of Asian student communities across Southern Ontario. Asian F.O.C.U.S. exists to encourage charitable contributions from students and the Asian community at large through social and volunteering events. Their main goal is to enable students to actively participate in and contribute to their community. We hope to create an awareness of those who are less fortunate than ourselves and provide the opportunity for students to join together and play an active role in helping them. Asian F.O.C.U.S. hosted a book drive in November, running until

December 1st. They accepted all types of books, especially textbooks, which could be donated to them either at their MUSC table or by contacting them on their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcmasterasianfocus. We look forward to future events by Asian F.O.C.U.S.

McMaster Indian Association (MIA), is one of our new clubs this year that aims to unite the various ethnic and religious clubs that already exist on campus such as the Hindu Student Association, Sikh Student Association, Gujarati Student Association and Tamil Student Association, etc. Their programming not only strive to creates a fun, welcoming and diverse environment, but also to educate new students who wish to learn more about the Indian culture. Food is a major aspect of the Indian culture,

and thus, it is something that this club strives to educate others about. They recently hosted an Indian food eating

competition for one of India’s most popular snacks, Pani Puri, which had a very high turnout. A part from bigger events, they also host smaller programming like games night and movie nights to build a sense of community within the club and invite more members. The MIA continues to

grow and they expect to participate in McMaster’s annual multicultural event, Pangea later this year.
