Advanced technologyThe microporous hollow fi bre membrane is a sophisticated fi lter developed by MitsubishiRayon’s macromolecular chemical technology. Each hollow fi bre membrane has amacaroni-shaped cross section and has millions of pores on the sidewall. It can remove particles as small as 0.1 micrometer from tap water.

CeramicThe special ceramic fi lter removes soluble lead, apart from other contaminants. (Insoluble lead can be removed by thehollow fi bre membrane fi lter.)

Hollow fi bre membrane fi lterThe core competency of CLEANSUI, the hollow fi bre membranefi lter, is made of ultra-fi ne polyethylene. The sidewalls can remove minute particles (as small as 0.1 micrometer) from tap water- including bacteria, algae, fungi, micro-organisms, cysts, cryptosporidium, and metal particles such as rust, lead, etc.

Anti-bacterial activated carbonThe activated carbon fi lter reducesunpleasant odors, chlorine and mould (2-MIB) from your drinking water. It also successfully removes pesticides, herbicides, CAT, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) such

as total trihalomethanes (chloroform, bromodichloromethane, dibromochloromethane, bromoform), tetrachloroethylene, trichloroethylene, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, etc.

Substances Description/Potential Health Effects

1Free residual chlorine

Chlorine is the most commonly used disinfectant. Affects the taste of water.

2Turbidity

Is a measure of the cloudiness of water, an indication of water quality and fi ltration effectiveness. Particles in water that may not be visible

Trihalomethanes

General term for four chemical compounds (chloroform, bromodichloromethane, dibromochloromethane, bromoform) generated by the reaction of organic substances in water to chlorine used in water fi ltration treatments. Suspected of being carcinogenic.

One of trihalomethanes. Suspected of being carcinogenic.

Perceived as a problem because there is a possibility of causing intellectual damage to infants and babies if it accumulates in their mothers.

102-MIB

A mould. It affects the taste of water.

11Tetrachloroethylene

Is widely used in dry-cleaning and as a solvent for degreasing metals inautomotive, metal, light industries. It is suspected to harm liver and kidneyand to be a carcinogen.

Is a chemical compound used as an industrial solvent for degreasing metals.It is suspected to harm the liver and kidney and to be a carcinogen.

1,1,1-trichloroethane

Is widely used as a cleaning solvent in electrical, electronics industry, as a solvent for adhesives, ink, paints, coatings, textile dyes, as a coolant and lubricant. It is suspected to harm the liver and kidney and to be a carcinogen.

14Iron (fi ne particle)

Most of this substance comes from water piping (iron pipes), it can leadto rusty water and spoils the taste of the water.

15Aluminum (neutral)

Cleansui purifi ed water vs. boiled water

• Boiling water removes oxygen which is essential for the human body, whilst CLEANSUI retains oxygen and healthy minerals.

• Boiling only kills some bacteria and the remains of these germs become a breeding ground for germs already in the human body.

• Boiled water only removes live disease germs, but leaves bacterial soil for the growth of other bacteria, whilst CLEANSUI removes all bacteria.

• Boiling eliminates only some of the chlorine present in water, whilst CLEANSUI removes all traces• Boiling requires additional energy (eg. electricity or gas) whilst CLEANSUI does not.

What about bottled water?

• Current regulations offer little assurance of water quality or source of water.• According to a four-year study by the Natural Resources Defence Council in the USA, bottled water is not necessarily cleaner or safer than most tap water.

• The study included testing of more than 1,000 bottles sold under 103 brands. About 22% of the tested bottled water contained contaminants.

• Some of these contaminants, if consumed over a long period of time, could be carcinogenic orcause other health problems.
